Amazing tacos, love the grilled meat aspect! They are a bit expensive but worth the try!

Let me start by saying, the steak tacos at carbons are fantastic. However, on Monday every member of my team got violently ill from eating your food. Half of our team had to call in sick. Please make sure you check your corn cups. The only people who did not get ill, were those who just ordered the Steak tacos. This is so disappointing seeing how we were so looking forward to eating carbons. Used to come here often but they seem to have gone downhill in the many years since then. I had three tacos (steak, fish, chicken) - the steak and chicken were dry and overcooked, the fish was OK but nothing special. (Flour tortilla) Chips and salsa are extra and though they are house made, they came out partially soggy. read more

The tilapia tacos are definitely worth the trip. The fish is cooked and seasoned perfectly and the slaw and sauce give them a uniquely cool and sweet taste that is addictive. The brownie is the best I've had---EVER. The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars is that I'd like some other sides that are less heavy/fattening---grilled veggies perhaps? And the chicken taco was somewhat dry and bland compared to the tilapia. read more

I'm with everyone else, I don't know why the ratings aren't higher, this was one of the BEST Mexican takeouts I've had. The chicken and steak tacos were on point, they were so juicy and flavorful anddd impressively in tact. They give you so much meat too. We also had a quesadilla which they loaded up with jalapeños at my request for full on spice. They also give you a ton of great sauce to go with them too. I'm a northsider. There, I said it. *Sigh* It feels good to get that off my chest. So what was I doing down south? Eating, as usual. Story of my life. But to my defense, I was meeting a friend from high school to catch up on the past few years. He suggested this local spot, and who am I to decline trying a new spot. So how did it deliver? Well, it delivered, for the most part. I was pretty hungry, and wasn't quite sure what to order...so I ordered one of each taco [that mattered, aka the non-veggie tacos]. In order, from tastiest to meh, the tacos are as followed: fish, steak, chicken. The fish tacos are lightly breaded and served with a tasty sauce. I think without the sauce, they wouldn't be as good. The steak is classically done, with cilantro and onions. No bells and whistles, but it's done very nicely. The chicken...was dry...and bland...and I was unimpressed. On top of that, I ordered some chips and salsa...but I think I ordered the wrong type of salsa, because it wasn't very good. I hear the mango salsa is pretty legit. Go with that one, because I got a green one and it was underwhelming. And as odd as it sounds, the chicken tacos and salsa really chopped this place down to a three-star joint...well, maybe three and a half. I mean, I'd come back here and order the tilapia and steak tacos...but that's about it. Service is pretty good, as they have people running the food out to the patrons. read more

Alright so I checked out this place for lunch, and thought it was good. It's not a very big place at all, but they do have a patio in the back if it's nice outside. So you walk in and you see large amounts of chicken and steak cooking on the grill. The menu is pretty vast for such a small place; they have taco salads, regular salads, burritos, tacos, regular plates, you name it. I ended up trying the tacos; 2 chicken and 1 steak. I have to say that I was a little disappointed with the steak as mine was tough and overcooked. The chicken was fantastic though, I would recommend getting any dish with chicken. One of my co-workers got the taco salad and that looked fantastic, I would probably do that over the tacos. In my opinion, it was a little expensive. The tacos are filled with onion & cilantro though, so it's not like it's just plain meat. I also liked the variety of salsas that you could choose from; mild, medium, and hot. The hot was excellent to put on top of the chicken tacos. They do have some cool side items that you can add onto your tacos for extra $ like avocado. I get nervous about eating Mexican the farther from the southwest I get, but if you had any concerns, Mine we definitely unjustified. Not a big place so I wouldn't go sit down and eat, but for passing through or taking out the food is fantastic First, You will not leave hungry. The burritos have just enough vegetables to justify adding them as an ingredient on the menu and are bigger around than most arms. The steak and chicken burritos in addition to having amazing grilled flavor come with kickin sauce and are solid meat. The quesadillas will get your cheese fiix and still pack enough meat to be a meal in themselves and you gotta get some of the red pepper sauce to dip in. I've had better elotes but it'll do the job and that was the only shortcoming to this place. We went and picked our food up, but they do deliver on grubhub and we might do that next time, and there will be a next time. read more

Was only in Chicago for a day and got really lucky in finding this place (their hours probably also helped). Got the Mother Clucker and will never look back. Not only was the food amazing, the serving size was also on point. Split the burrito into two meals and was still enough with the guacamole. Definitely recommend the medium salsa with the burrito, but given the amazing marinade on the chicken, you probably won't need it. Would definitely go back! I came here for what I always get - The Mother Clucker with extra Tequila-Lime Sauce. It has been a long, long time since I have had it. It was just the same as I last ate it. Nothing has changed, except the presentation. Before, the burrito was sliced in half and served as is. Now, each half is propped on its end so all the juices and sauces stay within the burrito. This burrito is for protein lovers - nothing but pure protein deliciousness. The Tequila-Lime Marinated Grilled Chicken Breast was moist and tender. The burnt edges give it a nice crunch and flavor. The Tequila-Lime Sauce is sweet with a slight tang. The onions and cilantro were fresh. The onions gave it a nice texture contrast from the chicken breast. While being oversized can be good and satisfying, it can bad. Near the end of finishing up the burrito, it gets a little boring because of the same taste and textural consistencies of the burrito fillings. Overall, I love this massive burrito and it is not expensive for this amount of flavorful meat. I love with extra Tequila-Lime sauce. It gets messy as you eat closer to the ends because the burrito halves were propped on its ends. The only exception when dining at Carbón is that I would definitely get the Stelote if the steak was freshly grilled and the burrito was made right off the grill. Definitely get The Mother Clucker or the Stelote if it's right off the grill. Hopefully, you can finish it in one sitting. read more

Visited at the suggestion of a friend...was not disappointed. It's small on space (about 20 seats) but huge on flavor. Had the MotherClucker. Seems like it was three grilled chickens diced and loaded into tortilla shell. Not much room for anything else besides cilantro and onion (I held the onions). They put the beans and rice on the side...we order flour tortilla chips and guac. All excellent. Not too pricey. Makes the Qdoba and Chipotle chains feel a little lightweight. read more

I typically order online and have it delivered but now I order online and go inside. I came inside once, passing by on my way home. I'm almost tempted to never eat here again, but the damn burrito bowl shell is the best. They started off great enough and only got worse. They gave me a cold bowl before. I've witness the latest time 3 employees break food and sanitation practices. That was a wonderful burrito. So glad that I stopped in here today. It was perfect weather to take advantage of their outdoor seating and the food was perfect. I ordered the classic steak burrito with cheese. The cheese was necessary as it added an extra creamy element to the burrito. The steak was thick and chewy but in no way stringy, it was freshly cooked and the tortilla was thick enough to hold and have a little chew- perfect. The surprise star was the red pepper sauce. I put that all over my burrito and was so happy I did. A little bit spicy and a little bit creamy it was a great addition. My wife had the steak and the fish tacoes and both were also very tasty- would recommend these options for people with smaller appetites. read more

Hi Carbon Team, this review is not for your food. Your food has been and is delicious; has been consistent over the years. This one star review is for your continued opportunity to improve your customer's experience in this COVID-19 environment. Opportunities include: someone who plays your "traffic cop" and ensures all customers coming to patronize your business to order and/or pick-up are handled in an orderly and consistent manner, as well as improved signage on both doors - existing signage not clear. My experience was simply chaotic. I was able to enter through the exit, without me even being aware that I was doing so. It's the door I have entered many times pre-COVID. Signage on the door did not indicate to only use the door facing 26th St and I stopped to read, so it wasn't me who failed to read, comprehend and follow instructions. There was a large group of young adults getting beer, margarita's and water, with no one from Carbon monitoring how many of them kept walking in and out grabbing their items, which exceeded the limit of folks allowed inside. During this entire time I've been standing at one of the sectioned off tables inside and no one has engaged me because the focus is solely on this party. Enter two other customers who are also picking up to-go orders - there are now 6 people inside. It was not until this time that the girl behind the register asks the two who just walked in to go back outside and I have not yet even been engaged, so I speak up saying I am here to pick-up an order. By me speaking up, I am asked to go outside with the other two customers. Now, this was a missed opportunity by Carbon to have someone (read: traffic cop) and ensure order was maintained. Alas, it was not. The two who arrived after me get their meal prior to me as I'm deflated at this point, it's exceptionally hot out and it's better that I practice some patience. Missed opportunity for Carbon. I hope the Carbon leadership team reads this review and takes it seriously. If not, it's yet another Bridgeport restaurant that I'll reduce or eliminate giving my business to since customer service and focusing on the customer experience doesn't really seem to be the "Bridgeport way," which is sad. The chips were a mixture of corn chips and the fried dough used in the salad bowls. It was light greasy texture that didn't go well with the guacamole. The burrito's chicken was rubbery, and not a lot of flavor. I tasted the grill marks more than anything. I couldn't finish my lunch. The cost including delivery and tip on Yelps Eat24 was 27.78. Great food! Lack of attention to detail. Two out of three times they get the order WRONG! What's worse is their policy to make their customer pay for their mistake. I placed an order for the family. I placed the order for pickup. I picked the order up, performed a cursory check, looking more for the items than the garnishes. Once home, I was missing my wife's Elote and my steak tacos were filled with onions and cilantro. I'm allergic to Cilantro. My order was taken property by a very personable and professional restaurant customer representative. She repeated my order as I placed it and upon my arrival, my receipt read exactly as she confirmed. But once I was home, everything fell apart. My steak tacos were not plain as I ordered them and my wife's Elote was missing. What is a customer supposed to do, unwrap the foil on every item to confirm each is right before leaving for home? That's not my job. Finally, to add insult to injury, their policy requires that when they make a mistake on your order, you pay [the delivery] to correct their mistake. Now how does that work? If one believed in conspiracies, one could conclude that... One star for excellent food. One star for a professional and empathetic order experience.
