Uber eats is trash! I'm from Los Angeles on a work trip and have been wanting to try Black Sheep because of Dave Portnoys pizza review. I was extremely excited. I ordered thru Uber eats and the delivery driver decided to take his sweet time to deliver the pizza. As I waiting in the lobby of my hotel for him, I saw him pull up to my hotel and he sat in his car for nearly 10 minutes doing God knows what as he left his vehicle. He slowly walked towards the entrance of the hotel holding my pizza while on his phone laughing. I'm pretty sure he was on Instagram. Seen a very funny post while my pizza is getting colder and colder. I contacted Uber eats and they told me it wasn't their problem. I would have to contact the restaurant. So I did and I got in contact with Emily. She was so helpful. Very respectful and showed so much urgency for my concern. I told her I'm pretty sure this pizza is delicious. However, Uber eats told me it wasn't their problem. It was a restaurant's problem. Emily helped me by calling Uber eats herself and they told her I should call Uber eats myself so they can refund me well, Uber eats policy is if the food is cold it's not their problem. Even though I didn't get a hot pizza, with the amazing customer service Emily delivered, I will absolutely be coming back to try a hot pie from Black sheep. Black Sheep Pizza is a great spot in the North Loop, especially if you are dining with a group. The space is absolutely huge with tons of indoor seating and a great amount of outdoor seating as well. It has a lively but comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. The staff was friendly and service was impressively quick from start to finish. We started with the app bread, which was super good and a great way to kick off the meal. I decided to order two pizzas and split both in half, which let me try four different varieties. It was definitely the right move. The bacon and golden pineapple pizza was one of my favorites. It was refreshing, had a nice little kick, and further confirmed that pineapple absolutely belongs on pizza. The lemon ricotta with goat cheese was also tasty, but the cheese was so rich that it started to dry out my mouth after a couple of slices. The meatball and ricotta pizza was a classic done really well. The meatballs were especially flavorful and clearly high quality. My favorite of the four was the hot salami and chili pepper pizza. It was absolutely divine with just enough heat, and the salami was perfectly crisped. The only downside to the pizzas was the crust. It was very thin, which made it difficult to hold all the toppings without them sliding off. There also was not much sauce, which made some bites feel a little dry. Overall, Black Sheep delivers creative and delicious pizzas in a fun atmosphere with fast, friendly service. Despite a few issues with the breading of the pizzas, I would definitely come back to try even more of the menu. read more

I'm not sure how this pizza place gets any stars. The pizzas here are always dry like not enough cheese or old cheese I'm unsure. The crust is hard and their sausage tastes really weird, not even edible. Their other meats taste old, it's gross. So whenever I got a pizza here, I would always get the meatball one because all their other meats taste super weird. Like old or something. There are so many better pizza places in the North Loop so this place would be dead last if I ever wanted a pizza. I would say: Red Rabbit pizza is #1 in the NL.Then, Tono's. I would get a pizza at The Loop over pizza here at this place any day, at least it's not dry. Other pizza places, Broadway Pizza, Hometown Pizza, Pizza Luce just outside the NL are fab too. Parking: Paid street or Paid parking ramp. (We paid $7 for a close ramp) Ambiance: There really wasn't any... it was actually really disappointing. There really isn't decor, it's located in what feels like a basement that is poorly lit. It felt borderline uncomfortable. Service: we had lovely servers and the hostess did great us and thank us for coming in. No complaints there. Food: my friends got the cheese bread and said it was good, it was just a small portion. My boyfriend and I got a regular pepperoni and the number 11. Neither were amazing. We will say we felt it was better than Mothership pizza and Pig ate my pizza. The crust here is good but not as good as OG ZAZA. Where they lost us was the toppings. They just lacked flavor. I'm sure that's a hot take, but how we felt. Black Sheep was the first meal we had on our trip to Minneapolis and a 20-minute walk from our hotel. We picked it because it was one of the few restaurants open after 9pm in our vicinity that served both drinks and a full food menu. Our server was wonderful, so warm, super friendly, and set the tone for our entire trip. We ordered a small pizza with half cheese and half pepperoni. It was a thin crust but super tasty, the sauce was delicious, and cheese was perfectly salty and greasy. We also ordered the ricotta and crackers appetizer. It was a generous scoop of whipped ricotta topped with what tasted like an orange marmalade and honey mixture served with homemade crispy crackers out of their pizza dough. I loved it and just wish they provided an extra side of the honey mixture. I should've asked but didn't think of it until I was halfway through. The combination of sweet, creamy, and savory hit the spot. We also ordered a couple of rounds of beer and cider to wash everything down with. It was pretty quiet after 9pm on a Thursday but the music was playing and there were enough people in the restaurant to give it some life. I can't say enough about our server. The place was a little loud apparently it was Trivia night which was kinda annoying as the mic was wayyyy too loud and we had to talk over it. Last year, I wrote a review based on the location on Nicollet (Eat Street). I reported that I didn't feel the quality was nearly up to the standards as their downtown location on Washington. Shortly after I wrote that review, the location closed (as did the one in St. Paul). I had been to the downtown location many times, and always found it to be high quality, good service, and great ambiance. However, I started going to the Nicollet location because parking was so much easier there. I decided to give the downtown location another try and see if it lived up to the standards that I remembered before I started going to the other location. It did! The pizza was great, the service was great, and the inside of the restaurant was fun and inviting. I started going to Black Sheep when it opened in 2008, seventeen years ago. They have maintained their product, expanded their menu, and most importantly, expanded their space. My original gripe was that it was very difficult to get a table because of the limited seating. As soon as they expanded, that concern disappeared. We split the House Salad. Since we remembered how large it was, we actually split the side salad, which was more than enough if you are also ordering pizza. It comes with a tangy dressing that my wife craves. I had a half of a shrimp skewer which included four shrimp, with a cilantro dressing, some sort of vegetable salad. We also ordered a half pepperoni, half cheese large pizza. Because Black Sheep uses as coal-fired oven, it was nicely charred on the crust, had great "leopard spotting" on the bottom. The pepperoni had that great charred edges. All in all, the quality was high and the pizza was tasty. Honestly, I would have rated this a solid five stars and the ding is not the restaurant's fault, but it still counts towards the overall experience. When they opened in 2008, finding a place to park on the street was a piece of cake. However, over the years, the North Loop area has really expanded, in terms of new apartments an explosion of restaurants. and the nearby Twins stadium. Now, finding a parking space is like winning the lottery. I don't mind driving downtown or even paying for parking. But frankly, when you factor in the issue with finding a spot to park, it's really not worth it to me, which is sad, because there are great restaurants like Blacks Sheep, as well as other nearby restaurants. read more

I wish the meatballs had more flavor to them and think there should've been some sort of vinegar based ingredient to balance it all out. I will say that the crust is absolutely phenomenal and the bread area was genuinely my favorite part. - Hot Honey, Smoked Chicken, Red Onion & Pickled Peppers - I liked this pizza quite a bit as the flavors balanced out each other very well. Was torn about where to order dinner from on my last night in Minneapolis, and, since I had a craving for pizza, opted for Black Sheep after seeing it recommended a couple times. I can't really speak to the ambience of the restaurant itself (I ordered for delivery via DoorDash), but the pizza didn't really impress me. Maybe my expectations were too high after seeing it recommended multiple times? No idea. Either way, my "build your own" pizza (fennel sausage, feta, golden pineapple, oyster mushrooms, and kalamata olives) + chop salad with dressing on the side arrive pretty promptly... but I was kind disappointed on the cook on the pizza. The middle seemed undercooked, and the crust was way too crunchy (there was none of that "chew" that's so delightful when biting into a well-made, coal-fired pizza). Also, the fennel sausage didn't really seem to have much of any flavor? So sad. Now, maybe the fact that I ordered pineapple on my pizza will mean a good portion of folks dismiss this review entirely (and you know what? #SorryNotSorry ), but the pizza from Black Sheep just didn't live up to the hype I saw online. I love black sheep! We ordered from Uber eats, as one is not close to us. We love the mushroom pizza it's always a must order for us, it does not need a sauce, with all the umami from the mushrooms and fresh garlic you won't even miss the meat. We had the fennel and sausage pizza as well, great pizza, another favorite is the meatball and ricotta pizza. I suggest getting a few 12in pies to try several of their combos. The Stormking wings are a must try, perfectly smoked, moist and nice crisp on the skin. Third time in a row I've disagreed with portnoy's ratings now. Service was excellent so that's why I'm not going lower than 3 stars, as well as the chopped salad. Cheese pizza is good, but the pepperoni pizza is not my style, because the pepperoni tasted like beef jerky in the sense that it's got a beef jerky "tang." Meatballs were overcooked on our pizza and for the other two couples who ordered them as a side. Sauce and dough are tasty for the pizza, but it is similar to Sicilian oven or anthony's pizza in south Florida. The kids said they preferred dominos pizza, despite them being accustomed to eating coal-fired pizza. Very well run operation in my opinion though, and they can accommodate big families read more

My favorite part- I know, crazy to say, but the oven roasted veggies. Holy moly, get it. Nice hot veggies (mushrooms, cherry tomato. Red potato, onion) with feta cheese and peppery arugula. The chicken skewer was out of this world too. Perfectly cooked, charred, dark meat chicken. My pizza was so good. They have premade, unique and fun pizza and a build your own options. Mine was basically a spicy cheese. We all got our own pizzas and everyone was obsessed. Toppings are nice and thinly sliced, chewy but thin crust. I think, lastly, I'd recommend eating in. Coal fire tends to get things a little more done than I prefer however this had just the right amount of char. The pepperoni is so tasty and cut paper thin. Oh so good! Service was good and for a Sat night we got right in. Things that didn't go so well...parking, always an issue in this area. Bathroom was out of toilet paper. Cancelled our last round of drinks because they were taking forever. Ordered them while we were still eating and were still waiting after our left overs were boxed up and ready to go.
