Well, visiting from out of town and saw this shop. Decent selection of baseball, vintage too. But wow, vastly over priced. I realize condition is everything, but raw vintage cards were priced as if they were already graded 8-9s. Wouldn't negotiate to reasonable comps. Heck, even new cards were priced way high. Literally twice recent sales, or more..Had a rc priced at $8 that i showed last 10 sales were below $2, wouldn't budge saying the guy was a good player. Another PSA 10 was listed at $50 and selling for $30, said he overpaid and would just keep. Ok, finding another store.... read more

Overpriced Pokemon cards. $159 for Ascended Heroes ETB. The highest I've seen is $130. I get that the market value is high, but no. I'm not going to support a shop that likes to rip off customers. I'm instead taking my business to Curio in MLT. Much better prices and the people there are super nice and helpful. I will gladly support a business that cares about the hobby and not so much about the profit. read more

Been meaning to write a review for a while now but it's better late than never! Hands down the best card shop in Washington. I've been frequenting this shop for over a year now and exclusively give them my business. It's a family that owns and operates the store. All of them are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I personally go for baseball cards but they have everything. They are, time after time, the cheapest in town concerning baseball cards they are priced at or below the market. With the industry growing so hot over the last year I assume they could inflate their prices to make a bigger profit, but they don't. For example, Jumbo box of Topps 2021 they have at $225-EVERY OTHER HOBBY STORE is at least $250. Prices in the industry have definitely gone up and I totally understand but in comparison to everyone else they are truly, fair priced and the "cheapest" around. I take my daughter often, as she likes collecting Pokémon cards as well and I usually get her a pack or two. Last year, at the beginning of covid, they had to close their doors like many other businesses but still offered their product via their website. I placed an order for 5 Gypsy Queen boxes and low and behold they recalled me by my name and threw in a couple of Pokémon packs for my daughter. They are so kind and and thoughtful, they didn't have to do that, but they did and will forever have my personal business. 10/10 read more

Very very unfortunate this business chooses to treat customers so poorly. "Get the fu*k out" is not how you speak to long time, well established clientele because they don't succumb to your obsolete and idiotic paper sign. Excellent family run card store. They're starting to do commander nights in Fridays for magic. Also i saw a review by some guy ranting about not following apaper sign, that paper sign is for people to wear masks. It is up to the business to decide whether they want to serve customers who do or don't follow their rules. I'd say good riddance to people who like to worship nurgle and spread plague. read more

[Pricing and Service] I can only speak on Magic The Gathering related items, but pricing has always been fair and Card Exchange offers a good assortment of cards ranging from the random EDH cards you need to the fine tuned standard cards. Ryter and Tanner are both very knowledgeable when it comes to helping customers pick out cards and have been super friendly/reasonable when I sell my cards to them. Don't expect eBay prices when selling to them, but considering that they need to make a profit margin they have always been more than reasonable offering credit/cash for your cards. [Ambience] I used to attend the FNM at this place for years and the patrons at this place are all friendly and very welcoming towards new players. I attend pre releases occasionally now and the tournaments are well run and organized thanks to Tanner who runs the majority of these events. Overall this is one of my favorite shops to frequent for MTG related goods and events! read more

Kiddo has a classmate that is into Magic The Gathering cards. I did a useful Yelp search earlier and found there's an independent business that sells such items and very close to home. We've driven past The Card Exchange a gazillion times since it's along Hwy 99/Aurora plus close to the Seattle-Shoreline city border. The kiddo and I stopped in after school to pick up something for his friend's birthday present. We noticed that there is a fairly large gaming area in the separate business next door. The other side was the main business area, however, upon entry we weren't acknowledged or greeted at all, just one counter person with another customer. All I can say, there are lots and lots and lots of cards - various sports and gaming. We went all the way towards the end of the shop, found various MTG card sets, and then suddenly another person pops out from an office area.The kiddo honed in on two sets that would be appropriate for his friend's gift, next we scanned for where the cash register might be, and then this person finally acknowledges us and completes this transaction. In/out, great. However.... Not expecting to be BFFs, but goodness, no neighborhood feel or customer service warmth at all. At least local baristas or grocery store clerks make some sort of effort. Maybe I should have just drove to other Seattle neighborhood businesses like The Dreaming in the University District or Card Kingdom in Ballard instead (both also listed via Yelp). Or not support this indie at all and dropped green at the Fred Meyer (aka Kroger) further north on 185th/Aurora. Walking back to the parking lot, the kiddo and I essentially both commented on our retail experience. The lack of customer service warmth, not quite to that extent as described earlier by Tessa W.'s post, but it was off putting nevertheless. Best summed up by the kiddo "it was okay, but not a place I would frequent." Not a great impression for a mom and son's first visit to The Card Exchange. I brought in my old Pokemon collection when I was clearing old stuff out. Had mostly complete early sets and a bunch of misprints and promos. When he was looking at them he was pointing out to his son that the base set stuff was all shadowless. He offered me $300 for them all. Turns out the brand new 1st edition machamp still in the package was worth about $5000 by itself. So, they gave me $300 for about $20000 of rare cards. On my second trip I took 3 white backed misprint magic cards and a graded error John elway rookie card after selling everything else elsewhere. I have been to the Card Exchange numerous times. I have found them to be very honest and forth coming. Bret wrote a nasty review saying he box a box of cards and found nothing special. The cards are packaged and boxed by the manufacturing company, IE Tops, Leaf, Donruss etc. The card sellers have no control whatsoever what is in the boxes they sell. I've bought cards here with no problem. I've bought boxes of sports cards sometimes I get great cards other times not so much. Do not always go by what cards sell for on the internet. Sometimes they are way overpriced sometimes underpriced. Look up your prices in Becket Baseball, Basketball and Football ETC. Cards need to be graded for their true value. This involves center, color quality and many other factors. Ask some of your card sellers to find out how your card is graded. This way you can insure getting the true value of some of your suspected "QUALITY VALUE CARDS" Card Exchange you ROCK. Carol Boddy, P.S. We'll, I think I would have rated this place higher, however, the lady working there ( I believe it was the owners wife), let's call her Terri, was very unpleasant. In any case, my story goes like this. I have been working on an 86-87 fleer set and asked if there were any common cards available. Terri said yes there were, and if I could provide a list of the cards I needed. Well I was in the area and didn't have one so she could not show me, or better yet, I could not go through the cards they had, couldn't even see them. The point for me was this, I didn't care if I needed a card or not, I was going to buy any one of them that was in mint nr mint condition. I relayed this, and was told (in a not so friendly manner) NO!. And so I came home, emailed my list to the gentleman that works there and made an appt. for another day to come by. I came by on a particular day, and wouldnt you know it, I went through the entire set regardless of the list. It was complete waste of time when I could have done the same thing the first time around. I am a big believer/proponent in good (doesn't have to be great) customer service. Not to mention, I am a very reasonable and affable individual but when someone goes out of their way to be nasty, especially when they are selling something, well I take offense. When I came in the second time around Terri was in a visible unhappy manner, did not even acknowledge anyones presence. I will give credit where credit is due and say the gentleman, Terri's husband was very approachable and friendly and the only reason this review gets 2 stars. I believer his cards are a little over priced, by hey, everyone has to make a living and I was actually happy to get closer to my set completion. If it wasn't for Terri, her mood and terrible approach, I could have given this review a better grade. P.S. I've been around this store for more than a decade. Huge selection and reasonable pricing on packs and cards. Highly recommend!! Great success has come from packs at this store, as I tend to get pretty lucky when I get the hobby bug. Ryter (sp?) is a great shop owner with incredible knowledge of all hobbies and is very kind. I heard about this place from some of my friends that live in the Northgate/Greenlake area. Awhile back i signed up and prepaid for the Gatecrash: pre-release event here but was unable to attend. I sent an email to the shop and they were happy to give me store credit. I came by to visit for the first time the following week to see what i can buy with my store credit. Turns out this place has the CHEAPEST MTG Booster boxes than anywhere else i have been, and i've been to many places. This shop has prices that are about %20 cheaper than most card shops in Seattle. DEALS! They also sell other collectible cards like yu-gi-oh and sports cards. I don't really care for that stuff so i didn't really look hard but from what i saw it looked like there was a wide selection. The man that works there is super friendly, but the lady not so much..She's not very sociable but who cares they got DEALS! They also have a room next door which is set up with many tables for trading card game events. I haven't been to any of them but there's a calender on their website which has all the times and events. This shop is also online! Live out the state? That's ok! they'll ship to you! Live in the area but don't feel like driving there to see what they have? That's ok! Look online, make your purchase and pick it up from the store! Overall this place is pretty fun if you live in the north end of Seattle. I'll definitely be going there often to buy things. read more

Having just moved to Seattle, and having just gotten back into the hobby of sports card collecting after being out of it for about 20 years, I struggled to find a good card shop. It was hit and miss. Some were basically jewelry stores that happened to also sell some cards, some just didn't have much in the way of variety. Then I stumbled into Card Exchange. I was immediately greeted by Ryter, the owner. The store was full of a ton of various singles, boxes, packs and memorabilia yet still looked clean and organized. I was like a kid in a candy store. Ryter was very welcoming as has been everyone else in the store every time I go back. It's a family business so you'll see the same people each time and they're great about remembering you. The prices are competitive with the card market these days and if I were to open my own card shop, this would definitely be a place I'd model it after. While I'm not into gaming cards, I do know that they have a huge section for Yugioh, Magic, etc and they have a whole separate room next door for tournaments and such. There is only one other card shop I've found in town that has earned my business. That one's on the south side. When I'm down there, I go there but when I'm on the north side, I'll always be found stopping into Card Exchange. It's a great place to be and it's run by a family that is passionate about the hobby. I haven't been here since I was about 14, but I've had many good times here. I only came here for Yugioh cards, but they had all sorts of trading cards and collectible cards. I used to love going there every weekend for the Yugioh tournaments. I never won, but it was fun to play anyways and funny to watch the kids who acted like they were one of the characters from the cartoon. I grew out of that quite some time ago, but every now and then I think about stopping in the card shop to see what's new. I never do though... read more

I have played in card shops up and down the west coast. Card Exchange is one of the best. It's common that shops have a niche in the MTG community; they are for savvy players, or the more casual. Card Exchange manages both. They hold FNM at 7PM - witch makes it easier to make events if you work - they also hold a draft and STD at the same time. Magic aside they have a great shop next door to their dedicated game room. Their main shop is full of new and older CCG's, Sports cards, sporting memorabilia (so you can remember all your loosing Seattle Teams past losses?). The people that work their are also nice and helpful. If you are looking for a new shop, this is the one :). read more

This is an amazing card shop that cannot be beat with their prices and that's including internet prices. I was a baseball card collecter when I was younger and have recently started collecting again as an adult and this will be my primary spot for most of my purchases in the future. Terribly inconsistent customer service. They have no problem completely ignoring customers. A simple acknowledgment of a customers presence goes a long way. When you don't even say hi and walk to the back room hauling cards and such, you leave a lasting impression. I was about to spend a bunch of money on cards and supplies today, now Ill never go back as this was not the first time. World of Collections in Edmonds is much much better. My son loves this place - and there are several other choices between home and there that are more convenient. They have a very large inventory and their prices are much lower than places like Target and Fred Meyer. They beat most every local card shop on price, too. They host weekly Magic games as well. I am an avid collector of gaming cards: Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokémon are some of the things I've collected for over fifteen years. I've shopped at numerous locations in order to enhance my collections, but I've never been as impressed with a store as I've been with the Card Exchange. It's family run and the employees are extremely knowledgeable. It's a bit of a trip for me given that I'm about two hours south of Seattle, but it's worth the drive. Now that they have an online store, however, it's become exponentially easier for me to shop there! I've been able to complete my sets of old Fossil and Base Set, as well as gain playsets of my Magic singles. I appreciate their reasonable prices and large selection. The customer service is very friendly and they go the extra mile to locate whatever product or single you're looking for. Came here for some magic the gathering booster packs but I ran into some awful customer service. The younger gentlemen were pleasant every time I came by but the older lady was just nasty. She would get annoyed by every little inconvenience and when I was trying to look for some cash in my wallet, she would make it clear how she was feeling with a long sigh and a glare.
