I went on Father's Day (June 21) and the staff working at the kitchen restaurant was so excellent! Ms. Elizabeth and her workers were running to service the customers in a very speedy manner. The line was long but they were working as fast as possible to service each customer with smiles on their faces. There was a customer in line who was being not very patient and the ladies did an excellent job of helping him to the best of their ability. this store is always clean and well stocked with helpful employees. to all customers beware that when using a digital deal you may be overcharged for the items you are buying and will not notice it if you have many items on your receipt. i was purchasing two packages of pork they had for .99/lb and i was overcharged by $1.40 for the total purchase. if i didn't check the math in my head after checking out and brought it to their attention i would have been overcharged. the head cashier supervisor tried to make sense of it using her cellphones calculator but she was unsure what happened and thought i was correctly charged. i told her to just add up the pound weight and multiply by .099 cents and that is what i should have been charged. she issued me a refund for the difference but still seemed confused. please check your receipts carefully if you don't want to get overcharged unknowingly. the store in this case was not the problem but the corporate dept that is supposed to ensure these issues do not occur at the final point of sale. read more

Don't come here if you're a person of color. We were discriminated upon by my teens not being able to purchase groceries. They cancelled my card transaction and had them complete it multiple times to the point to where I received fraud notification. I then tell them to leave them and I'll come back with them. Once I return with my teens, the bank is also closed, I am not locked out of alll my resources via phone or debit card due to their disbelief that they were buying these groceries. I have to leave this review because the lady that walks around sweeping was rude to my children. She made sure that she whispered to them to "move" instead of saying "excuse me" like she was telling every one else. Except for the (black children) Once it was brought to my attention I approached her and she acted like she couldn't speak English. So I asked for the manager and I was able to express my concern and how she made my kids feel. The assistant manager didn't seem to concerned and brushed us off. Hands down the worst Cardenas I've ever been to. For starters, there are very little shopping carts; everytime I come here there are never any available. I'm an injured vet and can't be lugging around a bunch of groceries with just my two arms. Second, there's never enough cash registers open. There will be times that I go and there will only be two registers open, if I'm lucky. And the lines on each of them are almost half way to the back of the store. And last, there's always panhandlers and homeless outside begging. To me it's no problem because I can fend for myself but to those who can't, I can see how they might not feel safe shopping here. However they're very pricey if it's not on the add it will make a hole on your pocket, they're excellent on Produce all vegetables and fruits, I am not to happy about the selve help registers, the panadería it's excellent as well , the kitchen to go, it's ok however most of the time carnitas are extremely dry, and food sitting on the vapor table it's also dry, Cardenas has the good on its specials and the bad on many other items. read more

It's an ok market their sweet bread always has a fly in there so I had to pass. You have to get it early so it can be fresh. For a reason their produce never seem to last past 24-48 hours then they start going bad. It always seems there are only to cashiers open every time I go so their lines can get long. They also do sell their plastic bags 5 cents higher then all other places so I take my own bags but have to bag my groceries either in the car, the shopping cart or floor cause you can't bag on the counter. Overall it's my last resort stop but not first choice to shop. read more

There lines are always so long like if I really want to be in line all day. The cashiers have full on conversations with customers. They talk and look at you like there better than you. Same yummy bakery with all the sweet Mexican breads. The same cafeteria area with one great bonus. They have an area that has steaming pots and in these pots are tamales. Different types from beef, bean and cheese*which are kinda rare. Only seen these once*chicken and chile slices,pork,Corn*which I have never tried*and my favorite the jalapeño cheese tamales. For the most part they are always in stock except for of course my favorite. Been back twice and they have been sold out!! Sadly today (May 9,2019) I had the worst service in Cardenas. we ordered our food and waited 15-20 mins that when we knew something was wrong had to go up to the worker and ask where is our food? and they said we lost it can I see your receipt? after that had to wait another 10-15 mins to get our meal. Also in the period 35-55 mins we where there we had no drink because the fountain machine had no ice and no drinks other then Diet Coke and diet doc pepper.
