it took three calls and six days before the "technician" showed up. His uniform is dirty, and he was smelly. He had a box of outdated rodent traps. I had to tell him where to put them because he seemed to have no clue. He knew I had a dog and he wanted to put these things where the dog could put his nose in . He put one outside near the lemon tree where the rats were eating the fruit but again, he put it on the ground. I had to empty the trap that caught the rodent. I put it in a plastic bag in the trashcan, which I asked the technician to take. He . He only came back once to recheck the traps. I finally had to call and tell them in a bag and left them by the gate for him to pick up. It took two days for him to do that. They did catch the rat after I did half of the work. read more

I was having a fence replaced and, when the guys doing the work started to remove an old post, they disturbed what they thought was a bee hive. They said the "bees" were coming after them. I could see the "bees" flying all around, so I told the fence crew to stay away from the area and I ran inside to call an exterminator. I called Cardiff and explained what happened. The person who answered the phone said that she was going to patch me directly to the tech. David answered his phone and I again explained the situation. David said they were likely wasps. He asked where I was located and it turned out he was not too far away. David said he would take care of the job he was headed to and then come right over. I was hoping someone could come the same day, but I know people are stretched thin and are busy. I was so grateful that David felt the urgency of the situation and wanted to do what he could to help. David arrived and immediately spotted the nest. He confirmed they were wasps and explained what he would do to eliminate them. I approved the work, then he suited up to protect himself from angry wasps and got right to eliminating what he said was a substantial nest. When he was done, David explained what I would see in terms of the foragers coming back to the nest and that it should be safe to work there the next morning. He made sure I had his number, just in case. Cardiff was highly responsive to what I described as an emergency. David was experienced and friendly. The price was fair. I am definitely going to call them when my fence work is done to help manage the ants that think they own the place! read more

We have used Cardiff in the past and been satisfied. Billy was often the technician who serviced our home. This time, it took two full days to even connect with Billy to make an appointment. Apparently the office doesn't make the appointments and the technicians only make calls once or twice a day, so if you miss them, you're out of luck until the next window of opportunity. Finally we connected and he came out on a Friday, and sprayed outside for ants and spiders. The following Tuesday we still had ants in several rooms of the house, so I called and asked for a second treatment. It is now Friday morning and, in spite of three calls to the office, no one has had the courtesy to return our call. We are cancelling our contract with them and taking our business elsewhere. How does a company expect to survive with this level of customer service? Maybe they have more business than they need. They have lost ours, along with any recommendations we might have made. read more

I recently hired these guys do perform a termite inspection on my house. I their report they listed all the finding and priced each finding individually. Per their findings they recommended multiple times to tent the house and to fumigate it, also a few spot treatments. At the end they summed up all the prices and the grand total was ridiculous. While all I needed is one tenting and fumigation job. Per their recommendation they wanted me to pay the grand total (huge amount) while all I needed is to select one tent job that was a fraction of the cost. They did not make it clear that I can select one tent job, it was not in writing on the report, as they recommended all the jobs with their grand total price (bunch of duplicated). Complete rip off! When I called the company I have pointed that out to them and they placed me on an infinite hold. read more

Rarely have I been treated so poorly...I had to make two appointments with Cardiff. They didn't show up the first time at all. The second appointment apparently an employee (Billy) showed up and stood around in the parking lot and left because someone told them I just drove out of the parking lot. i am new to the area and wanted to give local pest control business, so I called these guys. They said it would be $175 for an initial pest inspection, and I made an appointment. I called the day before and confirmed the appointment. despite this, the inspector did not show up! the pest control office was very sympathetic and sent someone else out. that dude showed up and did not even have proper tools to open the crawl space panel.. I had to use my OWN screwdriver, an ordinary household screwdriver, and open it for him. what?! the inspector took about 7 minutes to check the property and found only one crack where pests might be getting in, an obvious crack that I already knew about, and that one thing, sealing a crack, was not something the company does. I called a week later and indicated that I had not received a bill for that consultation. The staff I spoke with, initially said the bill would be $225, and then could not tell me how much the bill would be because "it depends on what he does..I have no idea how much things cost, I just work here". are you joking? That's a lot of $$$ considering the service. feels like I'm paying for people to just sit around snd tell me they don't know anything. Their inspection fee of $175 (or $95 or whatever it is? They can't tell you in advance, unlike all other companies I've dealt with) is comparable to Bay Area rates, but service is terrible. I am grateful that they made last minute arrangements to repla the no-show technician, but that never should have happened in the first place and it delayed my entire day. read more

I was having a rodent problem in my kitchen. There was a nest of some sort behind my dishwasher. Called Cardiff. Big mistake! They came out. 5 times and did absolutely nothing! They wouldn't move the dishwasher at all. All they did was set out 2 traps and said they'd be back in 2 weeks. After 5 visits and doing absolutely nothing, I told them to leave. Last year we had lots of ants and spiders.. it was super gross... to the point where we had what seemed to be a costco bag of raid bug kill mini disks all over the kitchen, bathroom and our bedroom. Recommended by the BF's mom, this place comes quarterly. Slowly but surely with each spray there were less and less ants *which I cannot stand* and fewer spiders. Now there are no ants *knock on wood* and fewer spiders (only a couple not one in every corner of our ceiling and floors. They are non intrusive and super low key.. they call you letting you know they are coming, they spray and then leave the bill if you are not home... simple as that.... I personally feel the price is reasonable...especially since after two sprays the bugs were 90% gone and now they are essentially all gone. read more

They came to my house to address a rodent issue and really did nothing other than tell me they weren't going to look under the house during the inspection that we were paying for and then handed me a bag of charcoal to kill the odor for $75 that they told me would provide the same results for odor elimination as $5 worth of charcoal. I ended up figuring out where the pests were entering and fixed everything myself. Complete crooks. $75 for a bag of odor eliminating charcoal that at the most online sells for $20. read more

A relative was staying at our vacation house in Santa Cruz and reported a bunch of live and dead beetles inside. Fearing the worst, I contacted Cardiff to check it out. I was coming in from out of town and had a tight schedule, and they were very accommodating in setting something up quickly. Ken Walton came right on time, checked it out and told me that the type of beetles I had would not harm wood or people. He said he could spray the house and nearby trees, but it would be a waste of my money since the beetles have a life span of just a few weeks and would soon be gone. I decided to save the money. I called Cardiff bc my trusted neighbor Had recommended them. I was so pleasantly surprised that I could actually enjoy a visit from and exterminator I had to write my 2nd in a life time(69) review. They sent David who was so dedicated to his job he had me exploring the bugs with him like a kid in science class. After he left I thought, "what the heck just happened? I hate bugs". He also set some traps for rats and gave me his cell number so I could call as soon as I heard the snap. I told him I had what appeared to be rat droppings in my patio specifically inside my Weber. He said yea- probably rats, they are all over, nothing you can do. Huh? I again asked him if he could come by as I really wanted to be sure I knew what I had and whether he thought it was one or more - finally, he said, yea yea. I'll swing by on Monday.
