    The Variety Store.

Easy to find, plenty of parking ~ the Care & Share Thrift Shoppes are located in a strip style mall.  We visited three of the five stores ~ The Outlet, The Book Store, and The Variety Store.   The Outlet housed clothes, odds and ends, children's items ~ everything here seemed to be priced very low...and the offerings here were most definitely of the 'no frills' type.  The Book Store was fantastic!  Every category, organized perfectly, and the incredible selection is huge.  It would be a difficult task to leave this shop empty handed.  Our visit was on a Friday afternoon, the store had plenty of patrons and the young gentleman at the checkout counter was so polite and friendly ~ it was a definite bonus and incentive to visit again. The Variety Store was big and packed with everything under the sun.  There was a lot to take in here and it was so much fun to see everything this place had to offer.  The prices were a little higher than your usual thrift store, but most  of the items were in good shape.   Home and wall decor, candles, linens, kitchenware, curtains, pillows, etc.  ~ a little bit of everything... and again....it would be very hard to exit this wonderful shop without making a purchase or two. With the Care & Share Thrift Shoppes being  separated into different buildings, it would be easy to spend a few hours here.  The staff are courteous, helpful and their constant attention to the store surely shows ~ it's filled with inventory and the customers are plentiful.

ONE OF THE BEST THRIFT SHOPS AROUND!!!! i literally recommend care & share to everyone and anyone who wants a good, affordable thrift shop. my absolute favorite thing about care & share is that any clothing that isn't perfect (some pilling, stains, needs a wash, small holes, etc.) is sold per the pound (in the very last store on the left). Most thrift stores either throw these clothes out or recycle them, but with a little extra effort and care, most of these clothes can be bought and have a second life! i always find amazing sweaters (wool, cashmere, vintage, etc.) there, and a sweater comes out to less than a dollar! i also feel great donating clothes here because i'm more certain clothing won't end up in a landfill. they have a great book selection, and it's one of the largest i've seen in a thrift store that isn't exclusively a book thrift store! the color tag of the week is 50% off monday-friday and 75% off saturday. if you look for tag items, you can find really great deals! i attached some images of the things i have found here!

    $15 are you kidding me?
 Their prices have really soared

Everything in the clothing store is ordered by color and size, which made shopping for myself easier.

The profits from Worthwhile Thrift stores help cover the immense overhead costs associated with running the most comprehensive survivor non-profit in Pennsylvania. So there alone they have my money. I'd pay a smidge more just to help support a worthwhile mission! There is an abundance of clothing, shoes, glassware and kitchenware. Then a smattering of all the other things to include records, cds, HS, books, decor etc. it's pretty big, but not overwhelming. It's always clean and pretty organized. The staff has always been kind, helpful and engaging on all my visits. Their pricing is extremely reasonable for so many of the items. I don't think I've thought twice about an item here due to their price. This is always a thrift location I like to visit.

This manager needs training on how to deal with HUMAN BEINGS, especially the elderly w/ disability of any kind. My mom went into store on Friday 6/28/24 w/ her emotional support dog (yorkie/poodle, 4lbs, very tiny) and after my mom spent quite a bit of time in store collecting the items she was going to purchase, manager had followed her around the last 10min before kicking my mom out. My mother was told that only service dogs were allowed to be in store w/ owner and emotional support dog was not sufficient enough. After my mother shared that her dog was an emotional support dog, she persisted in asking my mom about her disability (if any and what kind). This seems like a huge violation to be asking what disability y mother has whether service or emotional support dog. You should never ask a persons diagnosis in either case, hence why papers/forms are completed properly and tags are provided to such animals and owners. My mother just froze after panicking out of fear she'd get in trouble (being Hispanic and speaks clear English), she left her things and walked out. As soon as she got in her car she brokedown crying and felt humiliated by the demeanor and conduct in which manager had approached her. I just found out about it right now! Being part of my job to advocate for people throughout many years in a nonprofit myself in the social service field, I felt it only right that I advocate for my mother as well and let others know about this particular Salvation Army right in Quakertown 309 and Pumping Station Rd. Suggestions: -have clear policies on your store website defining what dogs/pets are allowed into store and why that particular one. -train your staff especially managers on how to be more sensitive towards the population they serve and cultural awareness and beyond. If you aren't a people person and it's just another job, perhaps you're in the wrong place. Don't violate people's rights in asking them their personal health issues that are not your concern. You represent a nonprofit therefore are a reflection of their leaders, staff, mission, vision and it's not just local or state, it's nationally. I am appalled, baffled, embarrassed for my mom and anyone that goes into that store that are of a vulnerable population no matter what community you're visiting from. You don't know peoples stories or life experiences, even journey to than disrespect them. My opinion and fact of my mother's situation made worse!

All is good except they don't provide a public restroom. It is neat and clean with a health pool…read morestaff.

I was a bit surprised by the condition of the store though, which is organized to a certain degree. Linens with linens, housewares with housewares, etc. there's a good bit of sofas and misc furniture from all kinds of eras one might find interesting. Prices overall were high I felt, especially given the messy condition of the store itself and the sorting process wasn't the greatest. Flawed items managed to get on the sales floor. I did find a bunch of cardboard boxes containing a mix of misc items for .50 each which I rummaged thru. Also was interested in the art and frames, which inventory was abundant, however it was too much to dig thru, some were on the wall shelves, others in boxes on the floor. Housewares and baskets had some items I would have been interested in picking up but didn't because prices were what you'd pay at Big Lots for something new. I was a bit surprised to find used (I'm assuming) mattresses for sale and wondered, do people really buy them? Never got to explore the clothing selection as hubby was in the car and I had already spent a good bit of time here, but appeared to be like the other departments. A bit congested and messy. The cashiers were nice and did what they could, probably with minimal staff, but overall as a whole this place needs more organization, a bigger space or more selective sorting process, and lower prices. If you go be prepared to spend some time here. There's alot to get into, some items are hard to access, and can be a tad overwhelming.
