If I can give no stars I would. Worst experience ever. How is this place allowed to operate. Receptionist was horrible. After opening up late, with no apology, she was dismissive and irritable that she had to do her job. Then she demanded that I sign a document indicating I would be bound by a credit card agreement that they couldn't produce nor tell me what it was about. Another woman (I believe was a nurse then came out) and she was equally rude and dismissive. Beyond rude and disrespectful. Can't we get a better option in Lexington. read more

I needed some assistance with side effects of medication after surgery, and I was able to be seen at the Lexington Urgent Care within 20 minutes of calling them. When I arrived, the receptionist was very courteous and informative. She had me sign a few forms, and I was immediately seen by a doctor who was also courteous and informative, and gave me recommendations for things to do to get relief. The care was fine. The problem was billing. They automatically charged my card even thought a 2ndary insurance paid it. Numerous calls have been made; I was promised a check that never arrived. Now, they say they have found the insurance payment (for the 2nd time) and I need to check back with them in a month. (a month?) They will not refund me unless I call yet one more time in a month.....Then, perhaps they will again tell me the check is in the mail. This is ridiculous...it's been going on since April and it is now July. I hope I never have to go back there, because although it was easy to be seen, this is NOT. I visited CareWell yesterday morning and impresssed by the staff and efficiency they run the office. I pre-registered for my appt., and the receptionist called to let me know they were running late. Upon arrival, I was led to intake with Tee & handed-off to Lauren, the NP. Within 90 minutes, I had my appointment, x-rays in Woburn, Rx sent to CVS and Lauren's follow-up call with my diagnosis. After a bad experience at this facility a couple years ago -- dirty and messy, snappy employees, lack of efficiency -- I finally left rather than trusting their care. Though determined never to return, I recently found myself with a potential cellulitis infection on my toe in late afternoon, and a message from my doctor urging me to visit urgent care so antibiotics could be started ASAP. Rather than driving a distance, I chose to give this facility a try, knowing I could leave if unsettled. Upon arriving at 6:15 pm, the receptionist was neutrally gracious, the space looked cleaner, the wait was 10 minutes, and the RN took a reasonable history. The NP listened to my concerns, examined my toes, confirmed cellulitis, asked about potential drug conflicts, and prescribed an antibiotic, even seeking a best price from GoodRX to show the pharmacy. Should I require urgent care again, I will give them another try and hope for a similar experience. read more

A really bad experience here. The people in the back had their masks down, and I did not feel COVID safe. Lack of communication with patient. I had an appointment but two hours later still hadn't been seen although I was told numerous times it would be a short wait. I don't know the qualifications of the person who checked me into the room, but their bedside manner was terrible and they seemed incompetent. Took walk-ins before me, which is not cool given I waited all day for my appointment. I ended up leaving in frustration and also was upset as I was trying to see a doctor but all of that time they were just going to give me a PA. Why wait 3 hours for a PA? Ridiculous. Somehow they force me to do a full check up for a PCR COVID test, saying that's the only way to get insurance to pay for the test (I am skeptical). My appointment is 5:30pm, the COVID test is done but the full evaluation is not coming. Go elsewhere please. read more

This is a great spot to go to if you need quick medical advice. I went yesterday with a cold and ear infection and was in and out within the hour. Note that they are not going to be dishing out meds so if your on the line you may be told to wait it out, do over the counter meds and come back in a few days if it persists. I personally like this as we don't need to be medicated all the time. read more

Unfortunately I am compelled to share two unpleasant experiences in the same week which ultimately led me to take myself to the ER because I knew I was much sicker than as examined. A 6 hour ER visit needing fluids for severe dehydration, IV med for extreme pain, CAT scan and other diagnostic tests, and antibiotics proved my instincts to be correct. I am sure that the intentions were well placed but there was a complete disregard for the patient's clinical presentation vs. simple rapid (and limited) strep test results. Rule #1 in medical practice: listen to the patient, observe clinical signs and symptoms (patients are often too sick to remember/tell you everything), ask the probing questions and use diagnostic tests to help rule in/out diagnoses. And...front desk personal (even if HCP) should NOT diagnosis or provide opinion on patients or clinical treatment! read more

Went with my sick daughter a couple weeks back - 105 fever and didn't know where else to go - as I just moved to the area. Waited 90 minutes to be seen and when they saw us, they swabbed for strep and flu and when that came up negative, they sent us to the emergency room...90 minutes and $165 ($30 co pay, $135 deductible) to get "go to the emergency room" unless you are getting a flu shot - go direct to emergency room - because there is ZERO urgency in "urgent care" - scam-like in my opinion read more

I've been here a few times now for myself and daughter. Obviously convenience is a huge bonus and we've never had to wait long to be seen. However, I went yesterday for what I feel is a horrible sinus infection that has made me sicker than I've been in a very long time and I didn't have the best experience... I paid out of pocket (it was $150 FYI) because I chose not to go through the frustrating process of getting a referral through my provider. When Dr. Derkevorkian saw me, he stood across the exam room from me, asked very few questions and then looked in my mouth. That was the extent of his exam. He said my 5 days of illness hadn't been long enough to determine it was anything but a virus and that he wouldn't prescribe antibiotics. I did press him and wound up with a script for amoxicillin, which he suggested I wait 5 more days to take. To summarize, I wish the doctors here showed more compassion; it really is a fundamental quality of good medical care. Derkevorkian was cold and borderline rude to me when I was miserable. It took all I had to drag myself out of bed to be seen and he hardly performed any exam at all... read more

I downloaded the Yelp app because I've been waiting in the car for two hours while my husband gets blood work. I understand medical offices fall behind, I work in one. At least have the courtesy to say you're over booked and understaffed. I could have done many other things in a two hour time frame. Instead I sat in a parking lot and twiddled my thumbs. Three days earlier my boyfriend had started to get a bit sick. Then over the course of those 72 hours, his fever spiked to 104, he had chills, and all the hallmark signs of the flu. We live together, so on that third day when I had started to feel sickly the night before, and got worse overnight, I headed to this place to see if I could get a prescription for tamiflu, trying to stave off the worst of the flu my boyfriend was in the throws of. I was seen right after I finished the paperwork (no appointment, I just walked in). The PA was friendly; she had a great bedside manner. She took my temp; I was a little high but not necessarily flu-high, but I explained to her why I was there, and that I wasn't 'dying' yet, I knew I was going to be. She agreed. She said something along the lines of, "if it walks like a duck, smells like a duck, quacks like a duck..."/ I took off a star because both the nurse who ran the flu test, and the PA seemed very clueless with both how to interpret the test itself, and their unfamiliarity with the drug tamiflu. I actually overheard both of them in the main area through the ajar exam room door expressing that they were confused and had never run the test before. She still prescribed the tamiflu and sent me on my way. Overall it was a positive experience, while they clearly had never used the test before, I didn't get any other feeling that they were otherwise unable to perform as a medical service provider. read more

My first visit today. So far, so good. I was actually in, & out in maybe 25 minutes, inc. checking in, & even the front desk person was nice & friendly (!?)--who knew? I have an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection. I was afraid it was pneumonia, or bronchitis, but the Dr. assured me it was laryngitis. The amazing thing, was how vastly easier it was than going to a PCP at one of these giant medical centers around here; Lahey, Beth Israel, (or god forbid HVMA), with all of the rigmarole, waiting, the endless tests (even if you don't really need them), & all the "sturm und drang" on the part of some of the Dr's. & NP's. And I mean even the local centers of those big medical groups. Going to Carewell was SO SIMPLE--I didn't think it was even possible to see a Dr. like that anymore. It wasn't totally great. The nurse started acting like I was some kind of derelict b/c I told her I'd taken half my BP meds so far that day. So I had to nip that in the bud by going into a big explanation that I'm supposed to take half in the morning, half later. (WHY do all nurses & Dr.s assume that all patients are clueless screw-ups? But she wasn't so bad overall. Then the Dr., on my way out, told me that 2 of my BP meds shouldn't be taken together. That's fine--I'm glad he told me--but he started insisting that I call "the Dr. covering for my PCP"--I don't even know if there is one?--on a Sat. & alert them. This for meds I've been on for a year. But every last thing is a mini-crisis with these people. The Dr. actually gave me some effective cough syrup for my cough (which some Dr's, you'd have to pry out of them with a crowbar). Also, the Walgreens next door wasn't busy, & I got my prescription filled in about 15 minutes. (Guys: By a young, rather cute, brunette pharmacist). Now I'm kind of wondering how all this will go down with my PCP when I tell her that I went to Urgent Care (when her office was closed) & (gasp) took some cough syrup. I have a feeling I may get a lecture, at least--I know patients are never supposed to make the tiniest decision on their own.......... read more

I recently went to Urgent Care for a COVID Test. the phone app/intake form would not work on my phone and when I asked for help they took my name, told me to go outside, wait on the curb and they'd get to me when they could. After one hour of waiting I found somewhere else to go where I was seen immediately. Six (6!!) hours later Urgent Care called to say they were ready for me/I could come in. Absolutely terrible service: not "urgent" and not "caring" in the least. read more

My problem was 100% related to fees and transparency, mostly a problem with insurance but these places can do more. The medical care was just what I needed. My husband and I had 3 illnesses back to back and now owe this place $750 because my version of HCHP insurance doesn't view CareWell clinics as either a doctor's office (which it is) or emergency room. Turns out I could have gone a few more minutes away to a CVS clinic and had it paid for. The nurse/doctor were professional and able to diagnose my pneumonia and prescribe appropriate antibiotics. read more

My wife and I have used this facility a half dozen times, from flu shots to upper respiratory infections, and once for an unusual rash. We've gotten great treatment every time, both from the administrative staff and the practitioners. Some of the negative reviews here seem to be from folks who should have gone directly to an ER. I wouldn't use a place like this for anything life threatening, but they're great for the day to day stuff. read more

I went here to get checked for a concussion and was refused care because they didn't understand my paperwork. PAPERWORK. It was a government form that the provider signs to verify that I've been seen. And rather than let me explain it she (nurse practitioner who would not give me her name) cut me off multiple times and told me she didn't feel "comfortable" with the FORM so she wouldn't treat me. And not only did they refuse care but also sent someone with a head injury to drive and find a provider who will actually care about the patient. Mike the manager did call me after I reported this to corporate offices. He was great and apologized. He also said the staff would be retrained. I won't be back but hopefully they do get trained so they don't jeopardize others safety. read more

Just go somewhere else, don't even bother waste your time here. Made an appointment at 7pm called me and told me they're closing at 2 so I rescheduled for 10am the next day. Got there at 10, took my info at 10:20 and made me wait until 11:30 for a drug screening. I asked why I had to wait so long, the person (who said she was a manager on the phone with someone) told me there are walk-ins whose passports are going to expire soon and they'll get in trouble if they don't take the walk-ins before it expires and mine won't expire so I have to wait. Like?????? That just make any sense. If more people come in saying their passport is going to expire soon I'm just going to have to wait for the whole day? Then what's the point of making an appointment? After I asked for my id and told them I have to be somewhere soon, they took me in less than five minutes. I wonder what they were doing this whole time? Such a waste of time. read more

A 15-30 minute rapid test isn't found anywhere else. They see a gross amount patients, so I am okay with the wait. I went shopping and got a bite to eat. Today, Friday, at 5:15 pm, I made an online appointment for 6:10 pm to see a doctor about a circular rash around a tick bite. I was advised by the on-call doctor at my doctor's office to see someone immediately and not wait until Monday. When I arrived at the office at 6:05 pm, it was filled with kids and adults, people coughing, sneezing, and generally dirty, unsanitary conditions. There was one person sitting at the front desk, and it took a good five minutes before he even looked up to acknowledge that I was standing in front of him. By the time the receptionist turned his attention to me it was already 6:12pm. He took my insurance card and credit card and put it on the desk. Eventually, another person came and had me fill out all the same information I had filled out on the web once again on a handheld device. After I filled that out and gave it to him, it was now 6:17 pm. He told me to take a seat and the doctor would be with me "soon". I told him that I had just made the 6:10 pm appointment online less than an hour previously so they should be on time. He said don't worry it would be "soon" and I was "next in line". Nonetheless he refused to be specific about how long it would take, so I told him I would go outside (not wanting to stand in the unsanitary conditions of their small waiting room) and that he could call me when the doctor was ready to see me. I went for a cup of coffee and around 6:30 pm I received a call. They took me back to a room and a nurse came in all ready to waste my time with blood pressure check etc... I said I was there to see the doctor and she said the doctor wasn't available. So I went out once again to the front desk and told them to call me when the doctor was available. I went to wait in my car, and at 6:35 pm, I asked them how long it would be and they said "soon". I waited another 20 minutes to no avail. Finally, I went in and asked for my $20 copay to be refunded. I also asked for the doctor's name. They told me it was Dr. Ishoo. At that point, the doctor overheard me telling them that I would write a bad review of the doctor and their operation online, and Dr. Ishoo came out of a room and told me he had "nothing to do with it". He said the organization was "Carewell". I said, "but you are the doctor on duty here." He then said that if I wrote a bad review of him that he would sue me. I told him that in the United States we have the First Amendment right of free speech, and that I would certainly write a review reflecting exactly what happened to me. The doctor was extremely rude, did not even try to apologize for his tardiness, or the repeated lies told by his front desk about the scheduling. If you truly need urgent care, I would absolutely stay away from this place. In my experience, they were not in the least bit caring, and they certainly had no sense of urgency about them, either the front desk people or the doctor. Indeed the doctor was the rudest doctor I have ever met. read more

The follow up phone call was wonderful. When asked "How are you doing today?" I responded "just fair". The young person who obviously was not listening said "I'm so happy to hear that!" She was quite cheerful but in a big hurry and doesn't know how to LISTEN. I woke up in tremendous pain. But she must have been in too much of a hurry to get to the next phone call. Agree with these other reviewers with regard to cleanliness and efficiency. Nurse and secretary were great. The MD was very arrogant and short. Seemed to peg me as having a cold as soon as he walked in the room. 24 hours later, my fever is still here, chills, aches and the worst sore throat and cough in memory. $75 to be seen (ins co pay) so I'm not running in to be seen if this was a cold- he did a very good job of making me feel foolish. read more

I just got home from a Christmas Eve Covid test by the amazing team at Carewell in Lexington. I was there at 9am to register and returned around 6pm for my test. There have been people lined up outside the door the entire day, and yet the entire staff greeted every patent with a smile and a warm welcome. I dont know how they muster the energy to keep up such a good attitude. They have been working everyday to keep our community safe, while exposing themselves and their own families. The work load is unimaginable. The staff was patient, kind, friendly, and took the time to make sure I was getting the care and testing that I needed. I got to return to my family this Christmas Eve with a negative rapid test (PCR still waiting) and the staff was still there working. I am deeply grateful to these healthcare workers and I hope everyone takes a moment to recognize the work and sacrifices they ar making to keep us safe! A billing nightmare and an expensive lesson. Insurance company declined claims for me and my wife, said the billing code for the visits required preapproval. We went there 4 months apart, for entirely different reasons, But the bills had the same balance due and same billing codes After several calls to both parties, the insurance rep finally called the billing dept. directly. He said they needed to change the billing codes to match what we actually went there for. But, they declined. When we got Collection notices, I called Insurance rep back. This time. he was able to get the coding changed. But, not to want he wanted. We each had already paid a $50 co-pay when we went there for treatment. But, then we got billed another $30 co-pays for the "doctor visit". So, I paid $80 for someone to look at a tick bite, without getting the wound cleaned. Not even a Band-Aid. read more

Went today because of a massive head cold and sore throat. The doctor didn't even TOUCH me to see if I had swollen glands or not. I had to ASK for him to look at my ears, and also had to ask for a rapid strep test. He prescribed some OTC meds to take for 10 days, but didn't even explain to me what they were. What a great option for quick efficient walk-in treatment! Went in at 9am on a Sunday for my 2 yr old to have his arm looked at after he fell awkwardly on it the day before inside a bouncy house. Staff and Dr were super friendly. Took an xray just in case. Nothing fractured or broken thankfully, and they even were able to call the radiologist to confirm before we left! We were in and out in probably 90 mins or less from walk in the door, to check-out. read more
