I set up contact between Sal and my partner, and expressed the type of vehicle my partner was looking for, and left them to discuss. My partner called Sal, and after greetings were exchanged my partner noted Sal sounded off and asked if it was a bad time and Sal replied "well yeah I'm watching the game. Can I call you back" 5 minutes later texted my partner back "Hey bud my apologies I didn't realize you were Jamie's boyfriend I thought you were telemarketer you can give me a call back if you're available" He and my partner play phone tag for about a week as my partner was working crazy hours, but would always call Sal back once he realized he missed a call. January 2nd, Sal called my partner to check in, and left a voicemail. My partner calls him back a couple hours later after he got off work. Sal doesn't answer, but sends him a text of "I'll call you back" Well...it's been 3 months and we haven't heard a thing since. If The Car Consultants decided we weren't good enough clients from the get go, even though I've done business with Sal before, I wish he would've said something. Instead he left us in limbo, and made ME look like an idiot for recommending Car Consultants. The CarMax online quote was 5k; we visited the Fremont location for the appraisal (which was very busy) it took 90 min to get the offer document. You can redeem the offer at any location within 7 days, so we went to San Jose CarMax the next morning. We arrived before 10am opening, In 45 min, we completed the paperwork and had our check. Due to its age will likely go to auction, but it was a great car! Both locations are spacious & clean. Staff is helpful and professional however, Fremont is much busier as it is also an auction location. Recommend San Jose. If you go during a busy time, bring snacks; there are no cafes nearby, a coffee kiosk out front would do a great business.
