I know people say this all the time but I'm seriously only leaving one star because I have to! I will never order food from this place again and you shouldn't either! To give context, I am a Caribbean woman and it's extremely hard to find good Caribbean food. Normally I'd just cook it myself but today I decided I would choose a resturant from Uber Eats. I am plant based, I do not eat meat and I have not for over 2 years. I ordered the "tofu" and chose "stew" as my gravy. It looked good, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I ate a few bites and it wasn't all that. My third bite tasted weird, the texture was partially tofu but also had a meaty texture, which threw me. I inspected the tofu deeper, which resulted in me carefully picking through the plate and what did I find? MEAT! What in the entire ****!?? So from what I can only assume, whom ever made my dish used the gravy from an already cooked pot of stew chicken and poured it on top of the tofu. I am appalled. I am upset. I'm mortified. Like I probably ate a piece of meat. My stomach is about to do cartwheels and maybe I'm exaggerating but I wouldn't be in this position if the resturant had morals and respect for peoples dietary restrictions. The plant based lifestyle is heavily respected in the Caribbean so I don't know who you all have in the kitchen but they need to be fired. We ordered jerk chicken, curried chicken, rice, cabbage, collards, plantains, fries and two chicken and two beef meat patties for half what we would have spent elsewhere. I love coming to this restaurant but today they pissed me off . I'm pregnant and my hormones are through the roof . I came here at 10:30 am , apparently I was too early which was fine . A lady told me come back at 11 am . I ran a errand and came back at 11 like she said . Okay cool. I get back at 10:58 , waited til 11:02 & got out my car . The door was closed . Tried again tonight and the driver called and said they only had one Chicken Roti left, we ordered two. They substituted a Jerk Chicken. Who puts sweet potato in a Roti? A brief history: More than 15 years ago, a Caribbean restaurant opened in this location to introduce scores of nearby college students (myself included) to the pleasures of beef patties and curried chicken. A little more than a year ago, that restaurant closed down and, I suspect, moved around the corner to Oak and Lowry Blvd. to become Taste of Tropical. The Lee St. location remained shuttered from sometime until it finally reopened a few months ago as Caribbean's Delight. I say all that for this reason: though the food there is perfectly serviceable, it definitely isn't the stuff that a generation of college students grew up on. So, if you happen to be visiting from out of town for a couple of days, and want to get all nostalgic by buying up $50 of that good old Jamaican food and gorging yourself for an afternoon, you're likely to be disappointed. That said, I'm not so much a fan of this restaurant. The patties are more bready than flaky, and the meat filling has no heat, the curry goat is a little tough, and the jerk chicken has more bones than meat. However, they have spectacular lunch specials, and a really good homemade ginger beer that actually have some kick. I've been here over 20(x) because let's be honest - it's walking distance from my place and I'm from the islands. The owner is friendly and takes a lot of pride in his place. It's been recently remodeled. This is a grab and go establishment. They have plenty of refreshments to pick from and their food ranges from snapper, oxtail, roti, and jerk chicken. Upon my second visit to this little restaurant, I have decided to review. My sister and I (both originally from the North Bronx) happened to wonder into Jamaica take-out spot one night while driving through west end. Now being from an urban jungle, it isn't unusual for me to visit shady-ish establishments after dark without hesitation. I say that because the strip it's on is dimly lit, and all sorts of persons will also wander in, even if they don't intend or ordering food. This includes homeless and inebriated folks. The employees do their best to ward off non patrons; verbal warnings worked both times I visited. Aside from this, the food was great. I don't eat meat, but my sister raves about the oxtails. It's very popular amongst the locals. My daughter loved the curry chicken. Both times I ordered the curry shrimp, which are made fresh per order. I like the shrimp, because they are fresh, but the curry would be better if marinaded longer; but that's just my opinion. The rice n peas are good, and so are the plantains. The cabbage is ok, although very plain. All in all I'll visit a third time. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I found out about them through my brother who ordered from them on GrubHub. Caribbean food is my favorite type of food to eat, so I am a big fan and connoisseur. I also took the GrubHub route and 2.5 hours later, upon delivery; I got the chance to taste the curry shrimp dinner I ordered. (I also ordered curry chicken.) There were 4 shrimp on my plate...four.shrimp. (-__-) The curry sauce was definitely the sweetest I have ever tasted. It was too sweet for me. I ordered spicy but there wasn't any heat or kick to it. One of these stars belongs to the fried plantains...omg! They are by far the best I have had at any Jamaican restaurant in Atlanta. I know plantains like I know my right ear and these were very flavorful, tender and sweet. They were caramelized just right on the edges with a little burnt flavor that makes fried plantains one of God's greatest gifts. The macaroni and cheese was just boiled noodles with an orange colored layer on top. Your dinner comes with three side dishes, which is pretty generous. The collard greens taste like very well seasoned canned veggies. I would visit this place again but I would just order a vegetable plate because that seems to be their best offer. Coco bread and cabbage was without a doubt very well prepared. The cabbage was fresh and crisp, just how I like it! (I hate soggy vegetables.) I will say they get 2 stars for the flavor in the oxtails, but I have ordered from here 3 times and this is my last. I never do comments but I just have to this time. The first time I ordered I put in comments steamed white rice and extra sauce on my rice, I received rice and peas no extra sauce. My second order, because I gave them the benefit of doubt, same order just made my notes in capital letters and stated they did it wrong the first order, it came correct (cabbage is salty). Today I ordered again same order used caps again in comments area and extra area but it came with rice and peas cabbage salty and no gravy on rice. I called them this time and they literally said to me, " Damn- shit, that's our bad". He asked if I could bring it back and get another one? I stated I used Uber eats. Oh well that's our bad. Wow, I am really surprised at the bad reviews! I ordered delivery through DoorDash and my food was delivered within 30 minutes, warm and tasty. I had jerk chicken with vegetables and yams. The chicken itself had a wonderful smoky flavor. The jerk sauce could've been spicier but then I love my food extra spicy so no big deal. The vegetables (cabbage & carrots) were very good but I haven't eaten the yams yet, saving for a snack later. The only quibble I have is that there were enough sharp broken bone bits that I had to be extra careful chewing and swallowing. Also if you are really hungry I suggest ordering the large size. I got medium because I am pretty small but it wasn't quite enough for me - there's more bones than meat. But I will order again because the flavor was excellent and everything was fresh. I felt compelled to write a review because I was staying at the Glen Hotel where there's no room service and the restaurants close at 11pm. At midnight, I woke up starving and wanted food. I find Caribbean Delight on UberEats super excited to try their Brown Stew Chicken until I came to Yelp and saw all of the bad reviews. But I took a chance and I'm glad I did! My food arrived still warm and within a timely manner (thank you, UberEats) and the restaurant even gave me additional side of rice for my Brown Stew Chicken.
