Everyone is looking for Carribbean, but I guess technically Cuba is in the Carribbean, but I wasn't looking for that. I'll just rate this on the Cuban sandwich, since that's all I really look for in a Cuban restaurant. The Cuban was good, and was just as good as any Cubans I've had in south Florida. The portion size really was lacking for the price. $7.70 gets you a sandwich that is about 6" long. with a couple slices of ham and a couple slices of roasted pork. But it is good, and this is still Northern Virginia, so $7.70 isn't too bad. read more

I love take out places...I love dives...I (mostly) dislike chains...and I love any combination where the establishment gives you something you aren't really going to get anywhere else. 4 stars for Caribbean Grill's Cuban Sandwich...that's what it's all about. Ham, cheese, roast pork, pickles, mustard, and 'Cuban bread'. CG does it with two sauces on the side - tried to ID them, couldn't quite do it...one's like a salsa verde (similarly found at El Pollo Rico), other's like a thin mustard sauce. I like thinking that I can get Miami's signature sandwich (kind of like Philly has its cheesesteak and Baltimore has its crabcake sandwich) right in Arlington. Love this place. The smoke coming out the building is what caught my attenetion while driving by. Decided I would check it out, and I'm glad I did. The jerk chicken and baked yuca are outstanding. I was disappointed with my experience here even though other Yelpers seemed to enjoy this place. My friend and I shared the jerk chicken, beef stew, yellow rice, and baked plantains. It's really sad when both of our favorites was the side of yellow rice. The jerk chicken was fine but lacked any real flavor and the beef stew was incredibly salty. The place is cash only and the person behind the counter was rude and unenthusiastic. I doubt that I'll be making another visit here again, unless someone was treating and ordering all the right things off the menu. read more

Definitely recommend the rotisserie chicken. Not over priced and you get your moneys worth. The yellow rice is great as a side. I've only had the new potatoes and fried yucca besides the rice, and they're okay. I will definitely be coming here as a regular now. read more

Great local, low key spot in Arlington. There's not too much to the atmosphere (or the shopping center) but the food is great. You can't expect anything fancy here, just quality, 'home cooked' cuban/caribbean food. The chicken is great though not as good as pollo rico but that's tough to compare. The variety of the menu options is what keeps me coming back. Try the Cubano, Burritos (chicken and beef are best), or ropa vieja platters. The sides they offer are some of the best in the area and can't find them at other Peruvian chicken spots. I go for Cuban rice, yellow rice/black beans, yucca, new potatoes... can't go wrong with most of it. read more

This is by far the most delicious chicken in the area. The yuca is fried to order and always fresh. Bring cash, as credit cards can't be used. There is a bank right across the street. Empanadas, plantains and the chicken, are just a few delicious items to eat. I love the taste of real, unprocessed food. You can order take out or eat in. You won't be disappointed, trust me. Love this place; only reason for 4 stars is: parking can be irritating and it is CASH only. Other than those 2 things....LOVE THIS PLACE. The food is awesome. All and all this place is awesome. The parking is limited, cash only, the line is long during lunch and that's just part of what makes this place great. It's totally authentic the food is awesome and it's cheap. I get the same thing every time I go, a half chicken, fried yucca, black beans and rice. It only cost $10 and some change and it's more than one person can finish. I have eaten there at least 20 times and have never gotten a bad meal. read more

The best roasted chicken anywhere. I will not buy roasted chicken anywhere else. Have gotten their chicken once or twice per week for years. Some of the other entrees are good, others not so. The sides are all great as is the rice pudding and flan. Have been eating here since 1996 or so. At one point we lived in a house right behind CG. Across the street was a house with a fenced front yard. Every morning they'd let the dog out into the front yard to stay for the day. And every day by about 10AM, the smell of roasting chicken would fill the air. I reckon that dog was in doggy hell, the poor thing - smelling that chicken all day and then probably going inside to eat his dry dog food. But CG is definitely heaven for me !!! read more

I did not enjoy the food at all....I ordered a leg, thigh, plantains and side salad and REQUESTED ranch dressing on the side. When I got home I only received a leg and they added the dressing to the salad. Secondly, the plantains were not at all ripe and so they were not sweet like ripe fried plantains are suppose to be. I went on a Saturday afternoon and the wait was very long for both ordering and receiving the food and there was no parking. There is a place in Silver Spring called Pollo Brassero that sells the same items. I suggest the management of Caribbean Grill to visit this place they would have a better idea of what "tasty" really means!!!! read more

Great chicken. A unique change up from the pollo ranchero stuff you can get anywhere now. They are a little penny wise, pound foolish--soda fountain on the customer side with a sign that says "Refills 50 cents"--they charge for extra sauce--that sort of thing. But the food is great. Awesome food. We ordered fish, the chicken and a beef stew dish. All very fresh and tasty. Side veggies fresh and steamed. Plantains fresh and flavorful. Not greasy at all. Surroundings are very modest so don't expect white table cloths but the food is worth the visit. Great prices. read more

So I'm one of "those people", I need my chicken fix on the weekly.Normally we frequent El Pollo Rico (my fave),but the fiancé suggested we give this place a shot.Boy am I glad we did! I tried this place recently since it is close to my new office. I thought the food was pretty good, and the price was fair. I value taste over ambiance when it comes to restaurants and I really don't care for fanciness as long as the food is good... but I thought this place was a little dirty (floors, tables, counters). I also noticed that the cashier guy was serving food without putting gloves on or without washing his hands after handling money.... I hope they improve this to give the place a better appearance because the food is actually good! read more

Ate last night at the expanded Caribbean Grill. Still the same number of tables so more elbow room and quieter. Won't be long until they cram more in tables. I picked this place because I saw a whole lot of MEN in LINE and where u see a LOT of MEN the FOOD is GOOD why because men will not pay for BAD FOOD. I had the oxtails. This is NOT Caribbean food, it's random tasty, but not the real deal. First of, this is the first time I had to use a fork AND knife to eat oxtails, they were tough and clearly had not been cooked long enough, The rice and peas was overcooked on the other hand, sticky. Everybody is about the chicken at Caribbean Grill yall been deprived! besides the Chicken there is other good stuff at Caribbean Grill too not to mention the Masas De Puerco (Fried Pork Chunks) and the Ropa Vieja (shreded Beef Stew) and Estafados De Carne a spicy Beef Stew so when you go ot Caribbean Grill try the other stuff too now I did take two star off as well because it can be hit or miss at Caribbean Grill sometimes they don't marinate the Pork Chunks long enough and the meat then tastes bland! but when they do it's awsome! The type of chicken they do there is Jerk Chicken not Peruvian! I've been eating there since the place has opened up back in the early 90s so I still like it when I'm in the mood for it! and my favorite is the Fried pork chunks and the Congri I hear though its not true congri cause true Congri is not black beans and rice cooked together but red beans and rice cooked together but I love it ! and of course Yuca is a must ! that is the first place I've tryed Yuca although they do better a better job at other places too . and also try the roast pork sandwiches remember folks go outside the chicken at Carribean Grill you just might like it ! the other stuff on the menu is under rated the only thing I probably don't like there are the empanadas the beef and chicken ones but I do like the Spinach and cheese ones if they still do those but any way those are my thoughts on Carribbean Grill! read more

We ordered a Cuban sandwich with a side of plantains and the yucca con chicaron. The yucca con chicaron was excellent, but the serving size was very small (two pieces of brocccoli, four small pieces of pork, and a lot of yucca - i really wanted more brocoli and pork) and the plantains were good. I just finished Pico de Picante. Chicken in a spicy tomato sauce. Delicious!! I've been coming to the Caribbean grill for several years watching it grow. The ladies who work there are great cooks and appreciate their customers. I usually get the pico and the curry chicken. Perfect meals for cold nights. Parking can be tight, but it's worth it. For starters, I rather select zero stars, but it's not allowed. I located the Caribbean Grill on "Yelp" and traveled from Alexandria to this location to purchase Caribbean food for my Caribbean husband. Oh, and I like to give a shoutout to Yelp customers for their misleading reviews lol. However, I was very displeased upon entering this establishment. This restaurant was filthy with overflown trash cans UGH!! The two women working behind the counter lacked customer service skills. I stood there for over 10 mins without anyone attempting to take my order. I said excuse me twice and two women continued to work and acted as if I didn't exist WOW. I finally got one of the workers attention, but she refused to look at me. And acted as if I was annoying and wasting her time. I asked if she had OX Tails since this is one of the main orders on a Caribbean resturant's menu. Her reply was, "look at the menu (lol)." Ok no Ox Tails, I asked for Beef or chicken Patties. The female worker pointed to some dried up bloated dough on a shelf. I cringed, said no thanks and left. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I ever had. This restaurant need to remove the Caribbean Grill sign because it's truely misleading and the food is not authentic Caribbean food. Oh yeah!! And management needs to teach these woman about customer service. What a waste of time and gas. read more

We have become multiple times per week regulars since we moved to DC a month ago. The atmosphere is basic... And who cares with fast, delicious food like this! Favorites include the roasted chicken, which is charcoal roasted in the store, and the Cuban sandwich. I get cravings for their plantains. And the flan is insanely good.
