I'm giving this review based on what it is, a very casual restaurant. You order at the counter then they bring you the food when it's ready, no frills. I had the masas de puercos ( fried pork) with black beans, white rice and an order of plantains. The only two complaints that I had were, the white rice was way over cooked and two of the pork chunks (yes I know pork can be fatty) were solid fat and inedible they should not serve that in this manner. They could have used those pieces and made chicharonnes out of it. Decent Cuban food for the area and the value was good, the cost was $22.

There are several other posts about how great the Cuban Sandwich is, and believe me, it was excellent, but the star of my meal was the fried yuca. If you're a yuca fan, this is the best yuca I've ever had. Despite it coming straight from the fryer, there was zero residual grease or oil on these things. They didn't even need salt which blew my mind. Of course, using the green/yellow dipping sauce made them even better, but I ate most of them on my way home without dressing them up with anything. I had issues with calling ahead and ordering, but the food made up for that and I will 100% be back to try more.

Glad to have this place as another Latino option in the scarcity of cultural food in Northern Virginia. We were promptly greeted at the counter, where you order your food and pay. Moments later our food was brought to us by one of the friendly chefs that resembled all of our mothers. Food was good, the two sauces helped give it a spicy kick, if you need that, like I did. Will need to come back to try the jerk chicken.

The staff was great however the food itself wasn't all that good. Jerk chicken was different then expected just a hint of jerk, white rice was extremely sticky, fried plantains had no flavor. Only thing that was good was the drink. Very nice people here though l.

Place is okay, nothing really stood out from other nearby establishments. Drinks were average, food was ok.

Just okay food. The chicken was pretty good though. I didn't dislike it but i will most likely not go back. Not bad, just so so.

I went solo, and honestly, it was one of those meals where you don't even miss having company because the food keeps you entertained. Every single morsel was delicious. I grabbed a seat at the bar, and the bartender absolutely earned her tip. Every recommendation she made...HIT!! She listened to what I liked, steered me in the right direction, and this is how you know she cared, she made sure I had extra gravy on da rice! Decor was simple nice and neat. They're sitting at the bar and the tables. I noticed the bar seats have those little purse hooks under the table, which are nice for those so inclined. Jamaican music playing at nice volume that permitted conversation while keeping a bouncy vibe. Service was quick and friendly. I ask for recommendation between two drinks and he recommended the purple dolphin. GREAT choice, I mix a bourbon elderflower and Plum infused syrup. Headed nice flavor profile of sweet with still the bourbon kick. Jerk chicken rasta pasta was OUTSTANDING with plenty of creamy, peppery KICK. It was honestly more spicy than other rasta pastas I have had but in an excellent way. EXCELLENT experience. Will add to heavy rotation when in the Navy Yard.

My friend and I ordered two Abuelo's Favorite Plate and the rice and peas were proportioned, the shredded pork succulent and the ripe plantain sweet and delicious. We topped our order off with two guava and sweet cream pastelillos - pastry nice and flaky and the filling just the right sweetness to end this delicious meal on! Pretty good food if you have a craving for Puerto Rican food…read more The Pastelillos were delish. I ordered a ground beef and a chicken with cheese. They were crispy, good amount of filling and nice flavor overall. Fantastic. I think they should serve the meal with a bit more rice. The Pernil, pulled pork was sort of dry and unfortunately the large side of garilc mojo sauce (garlic oil) was sideways in the bag and by time I got it home, the oil had all leaked out into the paper bag and onto the floor mat inside my car. The mofongo bites listed as 5 bites, however I only received 4. They were on the sweet side. The masa from the plantain taste too ripe for my liking. I prefer more green plantains in my mofongo. The tostones were pretty good. The pictures made them look a bit larger, but oh well. This was my first time ordering from a ghost kitchen, and the concept is a brilliant idea because you can order from so many cuisines! You can try so many restaurants in one place. Quite amazing.

It has a vibrant and rustic Jamaican feel to it, with plenty of space to dine in and listen to music while you eat. The ladies working the front counters were amazing, even nice enough to let me use a phone charger. The portions and prices are reasonable. I ordered a medium oxtail which came with two sides (they had a rice and mac and cheese option for a couple of dollars extra) and cabbage. The oxtails were meaty and reminded me of what I would always order back in Jersey. The rice and cabbage were plentiful, but the mac really surprised me. It was super cheesy and moist. This gem will be seeing a lot more of me!

This place kicks out some bona fide Jamaican and American cooking…read more Their jerk is just how I like it. It's got the right balance of the bazillion ingredients that go into jerk, and also, it's been rested properly, making a deeply flavorful marinade rather than one which is overly peppery. There are 2 types of jerk chicken platters offered: dark meat and white meat, a nice option for customers. Their mac n' cheese is what really surprised me. It's top notch-- creamy, cheesy, crusty. It makes me want to call home and talk to mom. The cabbage side is very tasty and I'm certainly not a cooked cabbage person at all, so it's got to be exceptional for me to write that. For dessert, butter rum cake is right on the money and red velvet cake is scrumptious as well.
