MMm MMm good! Extremely tasty food! Hubby and I were in the area and decided to try Caribbean Grill based on the yelp reviews. We were not at all disappointed -- in fact quite the opposite! Caribbean Grill is not a fancy schmancy place, instead just an 'order at the counter' and receive your food type joint. Very casual, laid back, and quick to dine. Hubby had the jerk chicken with rice. I had the cuban with yuca. I absolutely LOVED my dish. This was the best cuban I had since we were in Miami last May. The cuban bread was perfectly made, the ham and pork delicious, and the sauces on the side (yellow + green) provide the perfect compliment to the perfect sandwich. The yuca was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, as it should be. Hubby enjoyed the jerk chicken but would argue that El Pollo Rico or Super Pollo keeps their chicken more moist. However, if I had gotten up from our table, I'm certain he would have scarfed down my cuban+yuca while I was away. Came here for lunch because a nearby eatery as full to the brim, but this is what being lucky is all about. We began with some empanadas and they were huge! I could only eat half of the beef empanada which was filled with a beef, potato and pea stew and as a nice surprise had a few pieces of boiled egg in it. Very simple and flavorful. For the main event of the lunch, I got a ropa vieja (literally translates to old clothes, but in reality think of Chipotle's barbacoa but in a stew form) with cuban rice and fried yuca as sides. The meat was tender enough but not overly mushy and the stew had a good flavor of tomato, red pepper and spices that all came together nicely. The Cuban rice was rice and beans cooked with pieces of pork fat. It sounds a little meh, but you have to try it. Trust me! The yuca were a little underwhelming. The first few bites were great and piping hot, but after they cooled down a bit the crunch kind of lost its bite. The sauces on the table (green and light yellow) are okay, but not life-changing. My friend seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed his rotisserie chicken, beans and rice. I saw him stuff every last bit of his leftover in a carry out box for a future dinner. Bottom line: Definitely try if you are in a 10 mile radius. read more

This place is cool but I was thinking more Jamaican Caribbean, than Cuban Caribbean, so I was a bit disappointed in their offerings. The food is tasty however, so it wasn't a total fail. The 'jerk chicken' is moist and flavorful and the fries are pretty good too. Their patty was quite different than the Jamaican beef patty I was craving. They were out of the beef variety actually, so I got the chicken patty which is more like a chicken pot pie in patty form. Good enough but not what I had my heart set on. I never go into Arlington but I was in the area and was hungry. Pulled up local eats on my GPS and saw the name of this place and it was uber close so decided to check it out. I was thrown off at first because I was expecting Jamaican and not Latin but nonetheless decided to place an order after seeing it was pumping on the inside. Ordered the chicken sandwich and fried plantains. First let me say the plantains were hot an yummy. I was sad they didn't have any sour cream but didn't need the extra calories anyway..lol. The chicken sandwich was delicious. It was well seasoned and the sauce they gave me was a little runny it would help it was a little creamier so it doesn't drip all over the place. Definitely a misrepresentation of Caribbean Food!! We went there last night after visiting our newest edition to our family at Virginia Hospital. When you get there you'll notice there's no distinct smell of traditional carribbean food in the air, probably because it's basically a chicken de Pollo joint. I ordered the Jerk chicken and lo and behold it was just peruvian chicken witha hint of jerk seasoning sprinkled on. The rice served was standard yellow rice and another purple colored rice. I must say the food was tasty but NOT CARIBBEAN FOOD. I feel sorry for folks who only go there for Caribbean food and have not experienced real Caribbean food. I ordered a family value platter based on their online menus (three of which) said it was $16.58. When I arrived they charged me over $25!!! Wow what a great lunch! The Cuban sandwich was on point. I also had the fried yuca well because you can't have French fries all the time. Caribbean Grill is irresistible from the moment you walk in the door and smell the chickens roasting on their open flame stove. It's small, independent, cash-only and to the best of my knowledge pretty authentic. I typically get their burritos or Cuban sandwich and have never been disappointed. It can get really busy during lunch yet I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my food. The prices are mostly excellent. It could use some more seating, and it'd be nice if they had more vegetarian options and better drinks, but this small restaurant is a focused affair and will especially please chicken lovers. read more

Carribean Grill I had the Yucca y Chicharron. The service was quick and efficient, the parking lot it weirdly situated off lee highway, so take your small car. The Yucca was good and the chiccharron was good, was I blown out of the water, No but if you want decent, moist, yucca and chicharron this is it. You wont be dissapointed. read more

This place does a booming business, but I was not terribly bowled over by the food. I ordered the 1/4 chicken dark meat w/ Cuban rice (rice w/ beans) and mixed vegetables. For starters, I ordered for take out, but when I got it home, they had forgotten the vegetables. Annoying. The chicken was fine, but a little dry and somewhat lacking in jerk sauce/favor compared to similar chicken I've had in the past. The Cuban rice was heavy on the rice and very thin on beans. In short, I ordered the jerk spiced pork with cuban rice and plantains. I also ordered the Horchata. I've had several versions of the Horchata drink and this version is different. The Mexican & Puerto Rican version my family members have made has milk, cinnamon a few other spices and brown sugar. This version didn't have any cinnamon but it was still tasty and sweet. This is for their brunch. Unfortunately I got lazy and we actually went weeks ago so my review isn't going to be very detailed. Mimosas are $2 and it's standard cheap sparkling wine and lots of OJ. Oh how I miss NYC brunch.... There is a very big selection of food so that's why they are getting 3stars. The paella was good (would have been a lot better if it had been warm). I like their little fajita station and they do have some latin inspired buffet entrees. Other than that it's standard buffet fare (omlette station, stale bread, cute desserts).
