This review is long overdue. Firstly, the Cuban Sandwich. Fan-fricking-tastic. Just right. I could eat one everyday, and if I lived closer, I just might. Solid sandwich. Chicken, consistently juicy and nice seasoning. I prefer the dark meat, but even the breast stays nice and tender. Only "downside" pay for refills on the fountain soda. The place could use a little bit of a facelift, but that speaks for the whole strip center it is in, but don't let the looks scare you away. Their food really is pretty damn good! read more

The chicken is AMAZING! It's so tender and juicy. You can get amazing chicken and two sides and drink for less than $10. The portions are so large you can have two small meals, or one large meal, and immediately slip in to a food coma. The yucca with onions and mojo sauce is to die for. Loved this place. I got their special. Jerk Chicken combo + 2 sides.. cuban rice and fries. oh man, good stuff. The place is super tiny, but filled with delicious smells and unique 'dive' atmosphere. Their chicken is cooked rotisserie style, but tastes much different than Peruvian chicken. This chicken had sweet/ spicy rub on it, and much juicer than peruvian style. I am a Caribbean woman from New Jersey and this is a let down. I ordered Jerk Chicken and ended up with regular Rotisserie Chicken as if I was at a Peruvian place. What a let down and fake. If they are not truly caribbean then change the name and make it what it really is. To me its fake. Not bad food but misleading when I am in the DMV and want food that reminds me of home. Chicken was not Jerk and the black rice was not authentic Cuban rice. Stop posing and just stick to who you really are which is not Caribbean. read more

Chicken: Way better than Super Chicken... Trust me, I did a head to head comparison. What to get: 1/4 chicken with two sides - The plantains are soooo yummy. And, for fun, get a can of mango nectar. You can literally watch chickens being grilled by their window . The restaurant is colorfully decorated and the staff are really nice! They didn't feel it weird that I am Asian but spoke in Spanish and they spoke Spanish friendly with me. I love their yuca con chicharrón and horchata! This place is as good as it gets! Great food and great service. This is another establishment that I have been coming for years. My usual is chicken breast and thigh with either white rice or cuban rice. They also have a nice selection of side dishes, more than most peruvian chicken places around here. The spices on the chicken are delicious and the chicken meat is perfect, not too dry and not too moist. I have also tried the fried fish, beef stew, chicken sandwich, and the cuban sandwich. One of a very select few of my first favorite places I discovered when I moved to NoVa from Los Angeles. The food here is exactly what it should be, & at an unbeatable price! I try something new every time I go because everything is just that dang good. Cuban sandwich (not the best I've ever had, but still rocks my socks), ropa vieja (succulent & flavorful), black beans & rice (moist & both rice & beans cooked perfectly)... go for the food, but know the secret is in the green and the yellow table sauces when you can snag a spot to eat-in. Two important tips: 1) they take credit/debit cards ( i don't know why so many reviews say they only accept cash, I've used my card here most of the times I've visited & I believe there are card logos on the front door). 2) throw a dollar or two in the tip jar. The food is excellent, it's counter service, & staff works hard to deliver amazing product at rock bottom prices. 3) parking is a lil tight, it's in a little strip of small, mostly Indian shops. Park further up the lot & walk down to the restaurant. 4) they recently expanded, but have someone grab a table while you order if you visit close to a rush time. Often I go and am one of the only people, and by the time I finish my order the place is on the verge of being packed. HOLY YUM - this place is delicious! Cuban sandwich is the BEST! My co-worker (who is from Miami) recommended this place to me just before I gave birth. So after being in labor for 43 hours, I sent my husband to fetch me a feast - and boy did he deliver! I had the cuban sandwich and fried yuca and I was in pure heaven. A real gem. 5 stars. My wife and I are both gourmets. We can't produce chicken of this high quality, ditto fried yucca (yuca). We don't know of any other restaurant in the DC area that can, either. Not to mention many other areas beside the DC area. We ordered the jerk chicken (comes with flavored rice and fried yuca or another side order) and the chicken sandwich combo (comes with fried yuca or another side order, plus a drink). For those customers who think the green sauce offered on the side is not hot enough, I suggest bring some Thai chili paste, or tabasco sauce, or powdered cayenne pepper. If you think the jerk flavoring is too dilute, here's an idea: Bring more of your own to add to theirs -- it's cheap. For customers who think the white sauce offered on the side is too weak: You could bring some onion powder, or parsley, or garan masala. Incidentally, mixing the two sauces provides a third sauce (or various variations) which has its/their own merits as well. read more

To begin with the negative; the lighting. That's it. Not the familiar soft lighting you find in most restaurants but some very high wattage bulbs in overhead track lighting. Because of this & the proximity to my home I do mainly takeout. Everything else is positive! Sandwiches (especially the Cuban & chorizo sandwiches) are amazing, sides are very good & it's all reasonably priced. I don't like black bean soup but somehow I like theirs. The staff are like bees in a hive as they move around the kitchen. The rotisserie in the front window is always spinning & fills the whole place with an amazing smoky smell. I go to this place every time I crave something savory and filling. I order their white rice and chicken sandwich and it totally holds me over until dinner. The portion sizes are great but the flavor is even better. Get as much of the yellow spicy sauce as possible--you'll put it it on everything! Came here for the first time for lunch; and it was awesome! I really wanted to try the Cuban sandwich after reading reviews but I played it safe and ordered quarter white with Cuban rice and fried plantains. I was blown away on how moist the chicken breast was. I can't say if it's always like this since it my first time but hey super pollo and pollo rico won't give you a juicy moist chicken like C.G. The sauces are not as thick as the other chicken joints, but that's just my personal preference. Overall chicken is one of the best in DMV, definitely a contender for THE best chicken in Arlington for sure. Will be back to try the rest of the menu. This is a solid food choice in Arlington. It's definitely more of a "dive." The reason to come here is for a good portion of hearty stick-to-your-ribs food, not the atmosphere or service. The fried fish is crispy and is served steaming hot. Pair it with a side of cuban rice and you won't need to eat for the rest of the day. They have two sauces on their tables: A spicy green sauce and a creamy green sauce. I don't know what is in these sauces but both are delicious and could be put on anything. I douse the fried fish with the spicy green sauce. Their cuban sandwhich is solid, but I have had better. Their chicken is very tasty. The plantains are great, and fried until the little points are crispy but the rest of the plantains are nice and soft. It can get crowded and the service is slow at lunch time. I've had to walk out because the wait was unbearable sometimes. And there are one or two workers there that do not seem to care, but overall the food is what keeps me coming back! read more

Customer service like another true caribbean restaurants is lacking but they usually make up for it with the food this place is not it. If you're desperate for caribbean food it makes sense to bite the bullet and come here but don't expect to be blown away. They charge every drink refill trying to squeeze every bit of change out of you. The servers do not speak English and I was forced to use Google translate. I like this place. It has zero atmosphere, but the food is very satisfying. Okay... reading through the reviews I notice that one of the complaints is that this is not Caribbean food. I agree 100 percent! If you are looking for the true foods of the Caribbean this is not the place. It does have Jamaican beef patty and curry, but nah... it just is not from the islands. On the other hand, the Caribbean Grill is the articulation of America today. I believe the ladies doing the cooking are from Central America. The food includes Peruvian chicken and sauces. The burrito, which is Mexican, is stuffed with Cuban black beans. This place is just great - I highly recommend trying it on a night where you want a quick and relatively cheap food fix. BTW, the burrito.... It is one of the healthiest I have had. It has no sour cream, cheese, etc... and the chicken is nicely grilled. Service: Very friendly and efficient! read more

The chicken is money with the fried yuca and the cuban rice being my favorite sides. Don't come too late though or you'll either get the old chicken from earler that night or no chicken at all. They stop cooking chicken after a certain time. The only other downfall is cash only, no cards. They don't even have an actual cash register, they use the old calculator and cash drawer method like back when you did bake sales in higschool. My wife and I have been past this place countless times, and I've read my fellow Yelpers reviews, so while we were out and about today we decided to stop in for lunch. What a disappointment. I had a bowl of black bean soup with chorizo, and it tasted like somebody opened a can of black beans and heated it up with some sausage in it. No spices, no seasoning; I make better black bean soup and I'm not even Hispanic or from the Caribbean! My wife had a chicken sandwich which she said was just o.k. I had the cuban sandwich, and quite frankly I've had better cuban sandwiches in every other place I've had them. The worst part of the meal was the fact that the place was filthy. Food on the floor around several tables, and the tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down in who-knows-when. I don't know how they can pass any health department inspection. Shame on them. I would actually say their chicken tastes better, but PR is meatier and almost as tasty. The seating area is very limited, and if you go around lunch time you could be in for a long wait. Tried out Caribbean Grill for the first time today and I was pleased. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and a beef saltena. I was really here for the sandwich, but the saltena looked good and at $3.50 a good buy. Of these two items, I actually liked the saltena better, The pastry shell tasted good and the beef, potato, and peas filling was very flavorful. The cuban sandwich was also very tasty, with the roast pork having a good flavor as well (the ham was a little bit of a letdown and imparted little to no flavor). It came on a baguette grilled in a press and everything was melted together and was excellent.. Parking is a little tight though and it can be hard to get into and out of because of that.. If you are looking for a good cuban sandwich, this is one the better ones I have had in the DC area. They had a diverse range of sides. I would highly recommend it. read more
