I ordered the curry chicken lunch special and it was blan no flavor what so ever and not to mention the gravy is supposed to be thick and it was straight watered down. I decided to call and ask the manager to add the extra gravy to my order and she told me that Uber already assigned my food to a driver and it wouldn't be possible. I asked could they charge me over the phone and add the gravy to the order but it was picked up and she said she'd go ask if that's possible. After waiting 10mins, the lady says unfortunately we can't add gravy to this order, now I totally understand that it's a cost ($1) to be exact but is it that big of a deal to spoon out some gravy to a customer that asked first to add it to his order, then offered to pay for the gravy, and lastly has spent $200+ dollars with your business in less than a month? At last! A decent goat roti! Didn't have all the spice that i like but the roti was soft and well prepared so i added pepper sauce to med it better. The plantain was sweet and fresh. I used to frequent this restaurant as a kid and teenager. The customer service is still great but they're not contributing socially to the economy. Too much plastic waste. It's basically now an order and sit type of spot and your food is in Togo containers and you get plastic utensils. The food isn't as good as it used to be either. Oxtails were very sweet with no spice. Cabbage wasn't cooked enough but plantain rice & peas were bomb. The red snapper and curry shrimp were not hitting. The goat was pretty good. As for the food itself, I just got a patty and coco bread w sorrel, but why did i have to wait 40 minutes for that when I could see the warming station they were in? Baffles me honestly. Especially when both tasted prepackaged. I was very disappointed. The sorrel was nice though. My friends got the jerk chicken plates and it was bland for me (again, I grew up on it), but my friends enjoyed it and were satisfied. The chicken was juicy, I'll give them that. But the flavor was kind of muted, and they really rely on the sauce they give you on the side to bring flavor to it which I think isnt right. We ordered 2 oxtail plates with rice beans cabbage and brown stew sauce. The rice was gummy the oxtails wasn't seasoned and tough. Now you get 4 big bones of oxtails but I received 2 with small shreds of meat full of globs of fat which doesn't equal to the 4 big bones you pay for. There were like 6 peas mixed in the rice. So o went to the door and knocked, cracked it and saw the Mexican lady that works the register opening the microwave and pulling out one of our meals piping hot coming out. I told her I didn't want that because everything will be gummy from my drive. She shouted at me NO REFUND. All patriots know all sales are final it when you mess up people food you should fix it. While standing to the door I asked for a manager and she came from the back. I explained to her what happened and what I saw. She tried to explain herself out of it verse fixing our meals. The place was mostly empty when we got there but I was hoping that didn't mean anything seeing as the yelp reviews were decent. My go to for Jamaican restaurants is normally oxtail so that's what I went for and my boyfriend opted for the Curry chicken so we could try both. The oxtail was delicious and tender with the only negative being that it was on the watery side. It comes standard with a side of cabbage, rice and peas and plantain and I have no complaints there. The curry chicken was good too but was underwhelming in comparison to the oxtail. I came on a weeknight and ordered ox-tails, a 2 meat meal consisting of jerk chicken (dark meat) and curried goat. We also ordered fresh lemonade and pineapple ginger juice. They were out of white meat chicken and meat patties the day I visited. As far as taste, the chicken was cut into several chunks and both chicken and goat contained several small bones. The chicken was slightly overcooked and dry and edible....the goat was pretty good and better of the two. They give you a huge mound of rice and peas in the middle of the plate, but the meat portions seemed a little small for the $14 price tag for the 2 meat plate, dinner portion. You get more food on the lunch portion at Cool Runnings. The ox tail was also smaller pieces of tail that had good flavor, but I've had better. The pinneaple ginger juice and lemonade were both fresh and pretty good. The best part for me were the homemade hot sauces. There was a clear bottle of sauce on my table that is made with either habaneros or scotch bonnets. This sauce was runny but flavorful. Don't be confused with the bottle with the red label that is on many of the tables....that one isn't homemade. If you want spicier than the sauce in the clear bottle, the jerk chicken sauce that comes with the meal is really good. It has the consistency of bbq sauce, but it pretty hot.
