The Caribbean Motel. What a gem. I don't think there is a better motel in the United States. I went with my friend last weekend, we saw this motel the night before and knew we had to book it for the next! It felt like home instantly. Every single employee feels like family. The rooms are very clean and look amazing, the view and location is in my opinion the heart of Wildwood, it simply does not get any better than this. Pride of ownership shows here. Owners Carolyn and George take great pride in providing an enjoyable experience for you. The staff are long timers and also have a vested interest in your good experience. All staff are friendly and caring. The rooms are very clean, well laid out and comfortable. There are several cleaning staff but Donna comes to mind as the Ambassador of the cleaning staff. She checked every day to make sure we were OK and asked if we needed anything. The motel is located a block or two into Wildwood crest in an area that is just steps to the beach a breakfast place and a few other of the old-time doo-wop motels. When the owners took over this place they totally redid the incredibly beautiful pool area and all of the rooms. Throughout the summer and into the fall they have various themed days and weekends. Love the Caribbean! Super clean, proud owners and staff willing to go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Heated pool is open into the fall. No, there is no lifeguard, but in all my years staying in Wildwood motels I have never been to one with a lifeguard. I suggest if you bring kids, you plan to supervise them yourself. Parents of small children should consider reserving rooms on the first floor if the vintage railing on the second floor and ramp make them nervous. We have stayed several times and plan to continue coming at least annually as long as we are able. I see that some reviewers have complained about the retro rooms and some of the side effects of maintaining a building of this age so close to the ocean. It is no small task to keep a place like this going. The elements are stacked against the very existence of the barrier island on which the motel is built. I give the owners the utmost credit for not only maintaining, but continually working to not only preserve but also improve, both the motel itself and their guests' experience. I have a history of spontaneous trips to Wildwood which became spontaneous overnighters. Some of those stays were in places I can only describe as fantastic training grounds for students in forensics. Wildwood has its share. This is NOT such a place. It is immaculately clean and well maintained. Are some of the rooms small? Are some of the bathrooms tiny? Yes. It is, no surprise, an older building. There is no way to make them bigger, but they are adequate, and clean. I've stayed in the smallest rooms and the second largest and have always been happy. Is it the Ritz Carlton? No. It doesn't pretend to be. Is the Wi-Fi always lightning-fast with thirty rooms' worth if guests using it? No, but I don't go there for the wifi. I go there to enjoy the ocean, make new friends, absorb some of the Wildwood kitsch, and experience a laid back getaway. I barely feel the need to access the internet....I'm busy chatting, playing, swimming, sharing a meal, or singing along with the music. If you want everything state if the art and modern, look elsewhere. There are plenty of cookie cutter modern places being slapped together in Wildwood (and everywhere else). If, however, you want a memorable experience and old fashioned hospitality, give the Caribbean a try. You won't regret it. read more

I would like to tell you about my experience, I arrived at the Caribbean Motel on Thurs June 17'2021 at about 9:30 PM. I agreed to pay almost $800 for three knights( which I thought was too much for 3 knights). Driving all day, I was exhausted and all I wanted was to watch a little bit of TV and get a rest. It wasnt a big TV but I didnt come there to watch a TV.  But,ALAS, TV did not work. It took Paul ( a manager or the owner) about 10 minutes to come up. For another 15 min it took him trying to fix and telling me that just yesterday it did work. Finally, I asked him if it was possible to give another room. Dont know why  he still was telling how just yesterday this TV was working. Finally, after 20 min he gave me another room. First, what I checked in my new room was a TV. And the TV was much smaller. That would be OK coz I didnt get there to watch TV but..... the sound. The sound was soooo bad, you couldnt understand anything, it was very echoing.   I went down to talk to Paul. and explain about the TV in my new room.  $800 was a lot of money for three knights and I would pay for it but for so much I would like to have a room with a working TV. Paul changed and became rude, He told me to go and look for another hotel. By then it was  11:15 PM. I couldnt find any hotel because most offices were closed. Offices are open till 9-10PM. So I  drove home. Caribbean Motel left a bitter taste. read more

Just stayed here last weekend. This hotel, which fully embraces its 1950s charm, was refurbished in 2005. I would put the quality at say a Comfort Inn level. Clean and sufficient, but could use a few upgrades like nicer pillows and mattresses as well as a hairblow dryer. The decor was an absolute riot. Lime green walls, bright yellow furniture, pink lamps shades with black splatters and a pink and blue bathroom. New microwave, mini fridge and flat screen TV. A very heated pool that was between a horseshoe and boomerang shape. Outside decor was fun too with a neat neon sign, and multi color lights. And of course, fake palm trees. Few nice, quirky perks include free hot dogs poolside on Wednesday. And a dial that when turned pumps 50s music into your room. Only a block from the beach, and two blocks from the end of the boardwalk. Also within walking distance (3 blocks) to a really good restaurant - Little Italy. Clean, and a good value at $135 for a room with two double beds at the end of June, I'll be back. read more

FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY!!! If you like the Doo Wop style and are looking for a place to stay this is it!!! My husband was on vacation and we had planned to stay home for the duration when he made a quick decision about wanting to go away for a few days. We decided Wildwood would be perfect not too close not too far. We have stayed at the Caribbean in the past but its been about 5 years since our last stay. They revamped the place to the hilt. With the neon bright Caribbean logo outside to the playing of 50's music, to the place being lit up at night, this place takes the cake as some say!!! First thing first was the wonderful man who took my reservation over the phone. I called on Tuesday asking if we could stay Wed*Friday. After some looking for a room he told me he could get us into room 227 (which I call fate since that is my birthday). He was so friendly and had me laughing as I tried to haggle with him about the price for the 2 night stay. He was hilarious after I told him that the room was my birthday and it was fate me calling and having that room open for our stay. He gave me a great price for a last minute stay. He told me that our room would be ready around 1 if we wanted by to come in early. We got into Wildwood about 1pm and while our room was yet to be cleaned from the last guests, the man at the front desk apologized (but he didn't have too since we were there early anyway). Since the maid service was almost to our room we were told we could change and jump into the beautiful CLEAN pool and have some lunch (hot dogs they made on their grill for their guests (on Wednesdays) and wait while our room was being made up. The management has something going on each day for their guests which is such a nice touch, you can tell they care not only about their motel but the guests who stay here. It was a beautiful day and being in the pool listening to music from the 50's was perfect. The man came out to tell me the room was ready (I am so sorry I forgot your name, as you knew mine throughout my stay). So we got our luggage and went into room 227. Perfectly clean and carried over the vibe of being a Doo Wop motel (which era I love and wish I grew up in). The motel beds were full size & were and nice. With me being me I bought my own sheets and blankets & pillows for us to sleep on. But if you decide you don't want to lug that all down I'm sure you will be fine as the beds were not only super clean but were very comfortable and we slept like babies both nights we stayed. Our room was a standard 2 beds, 1 shower, a mini fridge, microwave, dresser draw's (that stuck a little when you tried opening them because they were painted), open closet, little table and two chairs. We were on the second floor so we had two chairs outside over looking the pool. Just a perfect room for our stay. Very clean & tidy. The reason this motel gets five stars is not only being super clean and having friendly guests but the service was something that makes you feel good all over in this crazy day & age. l've never been to a place were they knew my name, asked me how my stay was, if I needed anything, not just once a day to seem nice but because they care about their guests and how they are and making sure you have a great stay. They really go out of the way making sure you stay is perfect. I'm sure if something bothered me they would try to fix it, they are just those type of people you want in your everyday life. I really can not say enough good things about the management as they were perfect in every way, and made me want to live down there forever. The motel is a block from the ocean which was clean & clear on our stay. We all had a great time being in the ocean and laying out. It was one of those perfect day's that you wish you could always have. My kids could not get enough of the boardwalk which I think is two blocks to get too. The boardwalk is huge and it could take you days just to visit the piers alone it's so big and v Fun!! The Caribbean Motel will become our summer go to place from this year on as we plan to start to come back every year like we did before we started to cruise and travel to other places, this will be our #1place we make plans for the coming years because of the great experience we had. If anyone asks where to stay while they go "DTS" we would recommend this motel in a heart beat. We can not wait to make our plans to stay here next year, it won't come soon enough. We stayed here on a last minute planned mini-vacation earlier in July. I have to say, when I emailed, the woman who replied was very kind. I felt like we were making the right choice for a place to stay as some other places in the area struck me as odd, asking weird questions about our ages and things when we inquired about a room. The Caribbean was not disappointing. It looks just like the pictures, though the pool seemed smaller in real life, it was still quite nice. The decor is vibrant and fun. The rooms are nice and air conditioned. You get a mini fridge (unless you get a room with a full kitchenette) and microwave. We got a smallish flat screen TV. I so want the lamps and vanity stool for my own home. I loved the colors and the look and feel. There was always enough parking so I knew my car was safe. My only complaint would be that it seemed a large extended family was staying and they seemed to take over the place. We didn't feel like we had room and privacy to spend time on the patio and kept our eye on the pool to make sure it wasn't full of people. There was another smaller family that seemed to let their kids run wild. One night they ran up and down outside the room doors squealing and yelling. We were not thrilled and tried to call the front desk but they were closed. Eventually the noise stopped and we were able to relax. I don't blame the motel for this as I don't think they were fully aware of it. We had chosen this motel because it was supposed to be quieter and in the long run, it was aside from a few exceptions. They have chairs set up outside the rooms but somehow, people from another room were almost always in the chairs outside our room and window. This is okay as we did not plan to sit out there but it often felt weird knowing someone was right there. My only actual complaint or request of the motel is that I wish the cabana lounge and pool were open a little later and that they were more strict about the no kids in the pool after 8pm. Back to the cool stuff about this place. The location is great. You are a block from Wildwood Crest beach which is one of the nicest beaches I have ever been to. It is a couple blocks from the entrance to the boardwalk though the main part of the boardwalk is a bit farther. Be prepared to walk or enjoy a tram car ride. We did both depending on how we felt. Overall: Cool decor, nice people, ample parking, nice pool, fun cool rooms and great location! read more

This is our first time in a very long time to stay in a motel. I was able to make reservations on line and I had really researched this place. And it's better than the good reviews it gets. In car talk it's restomod. It feels like the 60s but a lot of important parts have been updated. The room was very clean and so was the pool. We will be back. read more

Had an amazing honeymoon vacation at the Caribbean this week! We had always wanted to stay there and it was everything we hoped for and more! The doo wop music in the rooms was a pleasant surprise! The staff and owner are so friendly and helpful and the decor is to die for! The pool is a happening place to get some sun or swim around the faux palm trees or play some shuffle board! They even have complementary hot dogs or wings certain days of the week! It's definitely worth it to get the C-lux rooms! I will be back every year from here on out! read more

Forgive the lateness of this review ( I JUST found the pictures), but we had what can only be described as a magical weekend at the Caribbean 2 summers ago. The owners and staff helped make it an unforgettable weekend for us! After an incredibly stressful Spring, my fella and I drove to Wildwood from Brooklyn. Our room was ready on arrival, both it and the pool were lovely, retro-tastic, and clean, and the staff was so lovely! Okay, so maybe part of the awesome was that my boyfriend proposed on Friday night. But get this: as soon as the staff heard about it the next day, they snuck champagne into our room and made a Clean Towel Swan on our bed! They left a really nice note from the entire staff! Loved this hotel! Great customer service, very pleasant people! Room was nice and clean, they are serious about the theme of the place. Should get a lifeguard to control the kids at the pool because the parents sure aren't paying attention. Otherwise I had a great time! In all fairness, we are not motel people. But reading such RAVE reviews of this place, we decided to give it a shot. Um...retro? Kind of. Renovated? Hardly. Bed was impossible to get comfortable in, bathroom was ancient (but clean), carpet was stained, TV was miniature. PARKING WAS A NIGHTMARE: SPOTS WERE TOO SMALL. When the pool was not being used by the wannabe cast of the Jersey Shore and an enormous extended family, it was clean and enjoyable. The location was great, I will say that, but we won't be back. read more
