Honestly, the place is really nice. I loved the concept and the vision behind it. It's a fairly new Venezuelan bakery and restaurant, and it reminded me a lot of the bakeries I grew up going to in Caracas, which is something I definitely miss living in the U.S. The service was good overall, but the place was packed when I visited, probably because it was Memorial Day weekend. They seemed a little overwhelmed by the amount of people coming in. There were a couple of times when we had to ask for things more than once because it was hard to get someone's attention, but it honestly felt more like they were stretched thin than being inattentive. One thing I noticed is that the menu is huge. They have everything from bakery items and breakfast to lunch, coffee, smoothies, full birthday cakes, and a lot more. Personally, I think they may have tried to do too much right out of the gate, and a smaller menu at the beginning might have made things run a little smoother while they get established. The arepas were taking quite a while, but I want to give credit where it's due. The woman making the arepas actually came out and explained that they had experienced a power issue earlier, which was causing delays. I really appreciated that instead of just leaving customers wondering what was happening. The only thing that genuinely confused me was ordering an arepa pelúa and being told it didn't come with cheese. As a Venezuelan, that caught me off guard since a traditional pelúa is shredded beef and cheese. Mine ended up coming with just the shredded beef. Maybe it's their own version of it, but I think calling it a shredded beef arepa would have been a little less confusing. The bakery items were good. Not the most amazing Venezuelan bakery I've ever had, but definitely enjoyable and enough to cure a little homesickness. The coffee was actually one of my favorite parts because it really reminded me of the coffee you get back home in Venezuela. Overall, if you're in the Santa Rosa Beach or 30A area, I think it's worth checking out. There aren't many Latin food options around there, and you can tell there's a lot of effort and passion behind what they're building. Spanish: La verdad, el lugar está súper lindo. Me encantó el concepto y la visión que tienen. Es una panadería/restaurante relativamente nuevo y me recordó muchísimo a las panaderías de Caracas, algo que de verdad se extraña cuando vives fuera. La atención fue buena en general, aunque había muchísima gente cuando fui, probablemente por el fin de semana de Memorial Day. Creo que estaban un poco sobrepasados por la cantidad de clientes. Hubo un par de veces que tuvimos que pedir algunas cosas más de una vez porque simplemente era difícil llamar la atención de alguien, pero se notaba que estaban haciendo lo posible por atender a todo el mundo. Algo que me llamó la atención es que el menú es enorme. Tienen de todo: panadería, desayunos, almuerzos, cafés, smoothies, tortas completas para cumpleaños y mucho más. Personalmente creo que intentaron abarcar demasiadas cosas desde el principio y quizás un menú un poco más reducido les habría ayudado a operar de forma más fluida mientras arrancaban. Las arepas estaban tardando bastante, pero quiero destacar algo que me pareció un muy buen detalle. La señora que estaba preparando las arepas salió a explicar personalmente que habían tenido problemas eléctricos y por eso todo estaba tomando más tiempo de lo normal. Ese tipo de transparencia siempre se agradece. Lo único que me dejó un poco confundido fue que pedí una arepa pelúa y me dijeron que no llevaba queso. Como venezolano me sorprendió porque tradicionalmente una pelúa lleva carne mechada y queso amarillo rallado. Al final me la dieron solamente con carne mechada. No sé si es una adaptación propia del restaurante, pero quizás habría sido más claro llamarla simplemente arepa de carne mechada. La panadería estaba rica. No diría que fue la mejor que he probado, pero sí estaba buena y definitivamente me quitó un poco la nostalgia. Los cafés me gustaron muchísimo porque tienen ese sabor que me recordó bastante a los cafés de Venezuela. En general, si estás por Santa Rosa Beach o por la zona de 30A, creo que vale la pena visitarlo. No hay demasiadas opciones latinas por esa área y se nota que están poniendo mucho esfuerzo y corazón en el proyecto. read more

What a wonderful and tasty surprise tucked away at Gulf Place. Delicious freshly baked breakfast and lunch treats with a Venezuelan flair, including an Arepa bar! Nice selections of coffee, juice and milk shakes too. We had sugar cane spritzes and the "Gouda Mini lunch" which featured smokey ham with cheese baked in a slightly sweet and tender bread. I went here for the first time today. Picked up two cakes to go. These are the worst cakes I have ever had in my life. Wow. I tipped them for this. We could not even eat one bite of them. This place is amazing! It never fails to disappoint. Since we are locals we stop in here at least several times a week, and different times of the day whenever we're around. If cappuccino is your thing, Daniel's got that down to an art(using traditional Venezuelan coffee!) If you haven't had the Arepas-you need to. In addition to everything being so tasty and delicious, it is entirely family run. I love the fact that when you walk in you are made to feel like you stepped into somebody's home having breakfast or a snack or an afternoon cappuccino. Daniel and the family will shake your hand or give you a hug, and genuinely mean it that they're happy to see you come in. I can't emphasize enough that this is one of the unicorns you want to come in all the time to say hello because they're happy to see you, and grab something absolutely delicious. In the culinary world I love and appreciate diversity. And this is a true Venezuelan bakery in the truest form. If you've never had Venezuelan, breads or sweets, you'll be mind blown with these are people that love their culture and history so much. They're so technically precise in everything being made and want to share it with the the world. That is a lost form of connection in this industry.
