hard to review a place where the food is good , the service was good too, but while you're eating and luckily in our case it was at the end of the meal you see a roach walking around. . I should have know better, because before we walked in i noticed they had a B grade, usually when i see a B grade that makes me head else where ,but since we had eaten there previously i disregarded the B grade, i guess i shouldn't have . When i got home i seen why they had a B grade, put it this way they have more than just roaches there. One thing I thought of after writing this review, they automatically put the gratuity on the bill. It's usually an option on what to give this was included. If I could have written a review WITHOUT a star, I would have. I've called this restaurant five times and every single time they tell me they don't deliver, or are closing(I've called at 6pm, 8pm, each time within one to two hours of "closing time". I just called now and they took my order, transferred me to another person who asked me what I wanted and then told me they had to close in 5 minutes due to "an emergency". I love eating from caribe restaurant, if its either for pick up or eat in, food is great, the service in general are great. The workers are very nice and helpful. This place has really good food but the service is terrible. The women behind the counter have attitudes, rude and inattentive. Today, my husband and I went to grab some food to go. I tried to order 3 times and each time, I was ignored because they're too busy talking shit. But when my husband goes to order, she listens and is very attentive (shady ass bitch) We waited 20 MINUTES for chicken chunks and the place wasn't crowded at all. She asks us which rice we'd like for our combo, we ask for the rice with gandules. Right before we leave, we check our bag, our medium sized beans are missing which come with our combo. We tell her our beans are missing and she tells us we don't get the beans because our rice has gandules, and that if we want the beans that's an extra $3 One- you should of said we aren't getting the beans with our rice when we asked for that specific rice Second- why not just give us the option of regular white or yellow Thirdly- BEANS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN OUR COMBO!! They also charged for the little pack of garlic sauce. This place charges for every little thing. The good is good but when you leave, you leave with the feeling of being ripped off. The food is great, but I the service sucks. Or maybe the service only sucks if you're white. I walk in and wait at the counter to place an order and am deliberately ignored, even after making eye contact several times. Other non-white people walk in after me, and I've been waiting already maybe five or six minutes, they're immediately addressed by the staff and their orders are taken. After inquiring whether or not I could place an order they finally take it. The rest of the time the youngest looking waitress is throwing me nasty looks. The waitress are very attentive to the kitchen bell chiming when an order is up. After a few orders are filled and I've been waiting a while, there's a chime.. and the waitress looks over to check the food, then leaves it there ten minutes to get cold instead of bringing it over to the counter to be bagged. Yep. Turns out that was my order. I've been here maybe a dozen times, the food is really good but the servers are consistently rude to me despite me not being a fussy costumer and also being a good tipper. I have to say being a Pelham bay resident there aren't many Spanish places around here with that said I was willing to give it a try. The food was not great at all The rice was hard the meats that I've had from there always seems to taste like they've been siting (not fresh) I still go there but I got to say there are way better Spanish restaurant south of the Bronx or even uptown NYC. Service is also a hit or miss sometimes I walk in there and get a an old lady at the Register with a nasty attitude no class or courtesy for the customer. read more

Horrible food. I had baked chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was so so so dry. It tasted like it was in the refrigerator for a few days. It had no moisture. I live in the area and I swear every time I call this place I ask myself why I'm doing it to myself again. They answer the phone and don't speak any English (I'm bilingual) so I start in Spanish, but they talk to you and 3 different people as if you can see what is going on. So I stay quiet not to talk to dead air, and then get yelled at because I'm not talking. So I start to say my order and no one says anything, I have been put on hold ‍ but I can still hear the restaurant in the background and the woman speaking. I understand it's busy, I work in the food industry as well, but a simple, hold pls would be great. The people that work there are so simple minded and lack customer service that I rather go the extra mile for El Nuevo Bohio in the square. But overall I've tried quite a few dishes and I can tell you they have all been satisfactory and well proportioned. I used to really like this place, but their roach problem is out of control. I too experienced roaches. Not once but twice. The first time I was sitting with my family and a small roach crawled across the table in the far back. The second time a year later my husband and I tried having lunch giving them a second chance, and the benefit of the doubt when a large roach crawled up his leg. Thank god he had shorts on. However, he killer it and I took it to the front in a napkin. So frustrating when your hungry and waiting to be served and have to experience something like this. The staff didn't even care, there apology didn't seem sincere, but rehearsed. We walked out and said never again. Being Spanish and having to experience this in a Spanish restaurant is embarrassing. Rule one in a Spanish house hold is a clean kitchen, clean stove, clean bathroom, clean underwear and no bug. Sorry but this really made me upset. This place is great! I love the food! The lady who picks up the phone is never rude and always takes the time to explain to me the specials of the day. I've never dinned in and always get deliveries. The only bad thing about this place is that deliveries take a long time, but the wait is worth it because the food was warm, cooked well and fresh. read more

Putting it as nicely as one can the workers are very dumb and if you don't speak Spanish don't even try calling in a order and if you do speak it I would still stay away. Called to place an order for pick up, show up and wait 10 mins before anyone says anything to me, I finally say I'm here for a pick up and they say I said I didn't want the order over the phone. Workers are nasty and rude and very mouthy. People who came in after me were talked to but I was ignored. Wouldn't recommend this place at all.
