Had a wonderful lunch here after a work event. I'm not usually in this neighborhood but anytime I see a tapas spot nearby, I'm going. I agree with the other reviews the staff is super friendly and welcoming. The owner or manager even checked in on me a few times and let me know the team was about to sit down and have lunch together (loved this) and to let them know if I needed anything. I got the beef empanadas, shrimp in the spicy lemon sauce and the seafood stuffed mushrooms (favorite). Everything was good! About two days ago I stop off at sangria restaurant and bar.It was late they were about close the restaurant section of the establishment. I ordered a steak and chicken soup for my wife,the cashier was friendly as well as the bar tender. The wait wasn't long at all ,as I was sitting down I noticed the decor of the restaurant was pretty nice ,the brick and wooden exterior went well together. Plus this spot has outdoor dining as well with a nice set up in the front. I have to admit the price was kinda high, but it was worth it ,my wife enjoyed the the food.she said the steak was one of the best And the soup was top notch. Mushrooms stuffed with seafood and covered in a white sauce. The mushrooms were small but the dish was very flavorful. - Langosta Fra Diavalo: OK (2.5 of 5). The flavors in this entrée dish were good, but the dish was noticeably over-salted, and the half-lobster wasn't fresh. For $28, this entrée could have been better. - Crema Catalana: Very Good (4 of 5). A lovely orange vanilla flavored crème brûlée. Service: Very Good (4 of 5). Superb for the most part, but with two lapses: - We asked for our leftover portion (about half) of Langosta Fra Diavalo to go, but never received it. - The restaurant included an 18% post-tax gratuity in our bill total, which displeased some in our group. Although management explained that the gratuity charges were suggested (it's stated as such in the bill), and although the staff provided quality service, it was tacky of Sangria Tapas Bar & Restaurant to include tips in the bill total. We placed an order for delivery today The food was delivered in a quick timely manner and very hot! The first time we came to Sangria's our Server was Dahiana, she was absolutely lovely. She was quite gracious and receptive, she gave great suggestions on the menu options. The Manager Melissa was also very kind and welcoming. Now to the food, everything we ordered I would highly recommend, from taste to presentation. I have mixed feelings about this place, mostly due to the location. I have already met my yearly quota for treks into Queens so coming to this place was quite the conundrum (would I want/need to take a car service home from this location?). Unexpectedly it is not that far from Manhattan, but far enough to make a newcomer shudder. Either way, I absolutely had to check this place out because my friend said we would have a good time. And who am I to turn down a good time?? It definitely is a popular spot and is centrally located near to all modes of transportation. Parking is a little rough because they don't have a private lot. Street parking, however, didn't stop this place from filling up pretty fast for the Friday, after-work crowd. Bar seating and all tables were filled by 6:45pm. A lot of folks come here in groups but the atmosphere is friendly and fun, so no need to worry about rowdy crowds. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. The bartenders give healthy pours which taste great and are well worth the price. Service is good but not intrusive and way better than what I expect outside of Manhattan. The bathrooms are clean, as is the rest of the place. No hooks at the bar, but the back of your chair will do just fine. The menu is pretty extensive and inclusive. However, the most important thing is that the portions are healthy, the food is high quality, delicious and certainly worth the cost. I enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates from the specials menu as well as the mixed meats platter-- both of which were sized for sharing. What a hidden gem located in Jamaica, Queens! Friendly customer service. I have been here a few times for lunch with coworkers and tonight for Happy Hour. For lunch, I have tried the Sangria Salad topped with Chicken and Shrimp another time. The salad is fresh mixed greens with a basil vinaigrette sauce. Obviously, salads are pretty much the same on the vegetable side. Not here! The Sangria salad comes with slices of fresh apple, toasted glazed walnuts (WOW!), and feta cheese (I personally take it out). The Grilled Chicken was fresh off the grill, still hot, and very tender. It was a thin fillet cut into pieces. Very fresh tasting and it works very well with the rest of the salad ingredients. The Grilled Shrimp topping is not bad neither! Same thing, fresh of the grill! Tonight, my entire office came down to Sangria to bid a farewell Happy Hour for one our coworkers. The staff was very diligent in setting up the table for us and all ready for us. We were here for the $5.00 tapas and the White Sangria. Calamari is very flavorful and more to the salty side - tastes great! I had chicken empanadas and they were stuffed with meat! Very impressed with that! Add a bit of salsa or hot sauce to make it even more perfect. The Sangrias here were very strong! A lot of other Yelpers acknowledged this - you guys were right! You are definitely getting your money's worth with the alcohol. Fresh fruits in the sangria - oranges, apples, etc. I just wish they cut them just a little smaller! It was Tuesday and I was craving tacos. Ok very cliché, but it was just that! I found this place through my Uber Eats app and was pleased to know they delivered far from my home. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which came in a set of 3 for $16. I liked that the tacos had a good amount of fillings included (even guacamole!). The proportions were large so I felt the price was justified. I also ordered a virgin pina colada, which for some reason I thought was a good idea. I don't know why ordering drinks, generally consumed in a bar setting, would be appealing to me in the confines of my couch. It was provided to me in a coffee cup too, which really turned me off.
