I was working in the area and I saw this place. I was actually on my way to DD. I got the $10 daily special. I chose chicken with rice and peas and it came with a salad The woman serving me gave me a hearty portion which was enough for two meals. I thought the food was delicious . Lots of rice. I really enjoyed my meal. I got the rice and peas, Pernil and plantains. I requested some of the oxtail gravy on top of the rice. They just started serving lunch when I arrived so everything was fresh. I did take away because I had to go back to work. You can dine in as well, and they have an area for outdoor dining. They have a variety of options if you want Pork, Beef, Chicken, Fish etc. Price is decent and portions are big. There was a small bit of oxtail (from the gravy) on my rice so I got to sample the oxtail. Flavorful as well. I actually went back to get another plate to take home for my mother, that's how much I enjoyed it. Normally I don't come to this area but I was here for work, and I sent my coworkers there to get their lunch as well. read more

I'm a long-term customer who happened to stop in with my service animal and was asked to leave, because their lack of policy in place for the federal ADA Law for Service Animals in restaurants. Extensive selection of steam table staples chicken, roast pork, fried fish, ribs, wings etc. I order the lunch special for $10.00 which consisted of a healthy portion of stewed chicken rice and beans and yucca. My mom has eaten take out from here before and has always been satisfied. I decided to try it today on my way home and can safely say i will probably not be back. The girl at the counter was rude. She stood there ignoring me. When I asked what a certain soup was, she spooned it to show me and said chicken. I told her I would like one large soup and an order of plantains to go. Once she had packed it, she asked if that was all I wanted. I said yes. She mumbled some number and held out her hand but I didn't hear her so I said "how much is that?" She responded, "cash or credit?" I said "cash, but how much is it?" She said "$16." I gave her $16 And she walked away from me without saying another word. $16 for soup and plantains?!?!?! The plantains were ok, but not great. But ok.. I go home, pour some soup and am disgusted. There is no chicken. There isn't even any meat. There is only bones and skins of what I think might be pork, but can't really be sure. There was one chunk of carrot and two whole, undercooked potatoes/yuca? in a sort of tasty but very salty broth. Firstly I try not to get food here, their food used to be great now it's more expensive and they give you less food, today I went in a rush with doing my daily errands, I hadn't had anything to eat so I go in, wasn't looking my best just ran out the house quickly with my sweats a hoodie and a hat. I was in and waited a while to be tended to although it wasn't busy, they continuously laughing at god knows what with the other young lady that had her face laughing in the utensils she was drying, the lady finally comes to serves me the food of my choice making faces and not really wanting to genuinely help, when I got to the counter I felt so uncomfortable that they kept looking at me and laughing, they thought I didn't understand Spanish because I ordered in English and definitely was at me because I was the Only one their, as a medical professional and wearing scrubs all day all you want is to relax in some regular comfy clothes. I swear I will never return to this place. I got home only to have a little bit of food with two tiny pieces of plantain for , this dish was $20 and had minimum, so disrespectful, they pick and choose who to give good service to, judge you by your appearance and I had left them a tip, I will make sure my family and friends will not buy from them, although some already complained about it. I ate there 2 days ago I've been very sick ever since . Fever , diarrhea, stomach pains . So far it's been really difficult. They need to take these things serious, If not then it's a possibility the health department can get involved. The people there are nice , they work hard . The management needs to ensure the food is properly stored and if it's old please get rid of it. If the food tastes good then it should be clean. read more

The lady in the phone put me on hold while I could hear them arguing over who was going to take my phone call. 5 minutes later someone finally answer and I placed my other. But the set up was a tragedy, it's one line but then somehow people get confused as to where they're paying and who's next because the cashier and other workers are calling random people up to the register, I just don't get it. I should have went to popeyes not only did the girls stand there talking shit with each other while I wait to get my lunch but there was no line so they are straight looking at me and still not taking my order after I get the order I get back to work and the food was horrible, They need new staff from the girls who are suppose to wait on you apparently to the cook. My issue is the pricing it is way too high compared to other comparable spots and it doesn't seem to be a set price. IF the food was exquisite I'd understand but it most certainly is NOT! I placed an order of Mofongo with roast pork that was all roast pork, chicken cracklings that had no flavor, rice and beans they were good, but anyone can make that, and they forgot the sweet plantains. I called to let them know about the disappointment and was told every chef cooks differently and that is how he cooks. That was not my first disappointment but it will be my last. If you ever pass by this restaurant steer clear from here! One the food isn't even all that great. Second the staff is rude. They can't even give you the right change.
