Ok first of all holy fancy Schmancy office!!! This place is huge, clean and beautifully decorated. The front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. Patient for over 10 years and have ALWAYS had a great experience! I see the comments about having to wait....really people get a grip! We ARE talking about your eyes! If you have a problem do you want it corrected the right way and if so then those after you may have to wait a little longer! Update (513/19): I am supposed to be getting my annual checkup and have been at the office for 2 hours and have still not seen a doctor! The amount of time they make you wait is infuriating. They bring you around wait room to wait room. As soon as I get home I'm looking for a new office, this is pathetic. As I'm waiting in one of the waiting rooms other patients complain as well and they get the same excuse of "the doctor/machine/room will be ready shortly". Be careful when they ask if you want to get two things done at once, I said I'd my testing along with my annual visit because it would only be 15 minutes more. When I came to pay my copay I found out the doctor changed it to a medical visit and completely altered the amount I had to pay without letting me know beforehand. Extremely unprofessional and Dr. Willman didn't even apologize for the long wait and acted like nothing happen. Willman also tried prescribing me medication that HE prescribed to me a year ago and didn't know he did! I've been going to Carlin Vision for years and if things don't change soon I'll be finding somewhere else to go. Every time I've had an appointment I arrive 15 minutes early to make sure I can get called back when I'm supposed to. They are never on time, I've never been seen earlier than 30 minutes PAST my appointment time. Today I waited a hour to get brought back to another waiting room. I tried to get my appointment rescheduled but they don't allow that. If you're 15 minutes late they turn you away and cancel your appointment and if you cancel less than 24 hours beforehand they slam you with a few bu they have no problem making you wait 1 hour in the lobby, refusing to just reschedule. read more

I have been going to carlin Vision for many years. The Drs are great...the issue is their timeliness. Why...with a 1 pm Appt. do I wait until 1:45. Not the 1st time. I think they must schedule 20 people for the same time slot. There really aren't eye doctors in this area...but I think I'm willing to give up the convenience and travel from Snellville to Buford....Large practice there. So for a 3 min. Dr. interaction...Hi , how are you...let's look...looks good...come back next week...took me 1 hr. NOT acceptable! read more

I took my 4 year old to get his eyes checked for the first time and our experience was awesome! first off, i was nervous about taking him in.. he's shy and doesn't really like it when strangers come up close to him. it takes some time for him to warm up to people, but we had no issues during this visit! as soon as we enter, front desk kindly greeted us and the place was big and clean. it didn't take long for us to get called back and the technicians were so nice and friendly, but most importantly they were patient with him. they explained everything to my son what they were going to do/what they were doing and made his experience fun and easy. we saw dr. derosa and he was also really nice and made my son feel comfortable. i will definitely return when it's my turn to get an eye exam :) read more

Wow, when did Carlin Vision's service go so downhill? I am a 20 year client of this practice but my family's last two experiences have been horrendous. After having Lasik there 15 years ago, I specifically made an appointment to check out a free Alcon 5-day offer to try Dailies for Presbyopia. Alcon's website (seenearandfar.com) lists Carlin as the top provider for these contacts when you type in zipcode 30078: https://www.visioncare.alcon.com/multifocal/?utm_source=seenearandfar I made a special point of mentioning this to the receptionist when making the appointment, who said they do carry those contacts & I can discuss with the contacts department (Dr. Tyler reiterated this at my appointment this morning). Upon meeting a young girl in the contacts department, she immediately told me "I would not like those contacts at all" and that "they would be totally wrong for me." This comment, after never meeting this girl before, was bold, and incredibly insulting. I told her my whole purpose for making the appointment was to see if they were right for me, and with the free 5 day trial advertising Carlin as a provider, I would like to be the judge of that. She then said, "well, we don't offer those contacts, and frankly you'd be much better with the near/far combination contacts. We offer a fitting for $150 to teach you how to insert & clean your contacts, and we also do a follow up visit to make sure you're doing okay." I told her I'd been wearing contacts longer than she's probably been alive, so I don't need to be taught something I already know. She then went to talk to Stacy the manager, and came back reiterating the same lines above & saying "Alcon's website is wrong." Today's visit was a total waste of time, and with the presumptuous tone this woman had with me today, I doubt I will return. Saw Dr. DeRosa this morning to have something removed from my eye that was causing horrible pain. From the minute I walked in, I felt right at home! The front desk was very sympathetic (I tend to be a baby lol) and Dr. DeRosa was AMAZING! Such a nice man and found out exactly what the problem was quickly and removed it. Very disappointed with the results of upper and lower cosmetic eyelid surgery. They greatly over-sold what the end results would be like. One side is not even with the other, and the worst part is a unnecessary scar in the outside corner of one eye, because when a stitch burst they waited to repair it and then when they tried to fix it, it didn't turn out right. read more

Beware! Wednesdays may be Black Joke Day at Carlin Vision. As I waited in the back area for my exam, I recognized Dr DeRosa, my ophthalmologist, exiting one of the rooms. He was talking to one of the young assistants as two others looked on. "Do you know why Black people are so tall?" he asked. "Because their KNEE-GROWS!" My face became hot with embarrassment as I shifted my body toward the party of 4, head tilted and squinting. They all scattered to different areas. The woman sitting across from me didn't look up from her cell phone. I am not so tall but I suddenly feel so black. Black in the way racists interpret it. Not that it would have been less painful, but I wasn't in a bar or overhearing a conversation in Starbucks. I was in a professional establishment; a doctor's office! My insurance was billed and I was charged a copay for the privilege of being the butt of a bad joke! I was in shock while having my eye pressure checked. I couldn't decide which two images looked clearer, "this one or that one?" I wanted information about eyelid surgery but knew I wouldn't trust Carlin vision to perform it. I don't remember my response when DeRosa asked me if I had any concerns but knew I had to address what I'd witnessed. Then, the doctor broached the subject first. He apologized for repeating an old "4th grade joke." He was sorry "IF I WAS OFFENDED???" Then he backtracked, asking if I had heard it. I told him I had. I told him I was indeed offended and wondered if Wednesday was Black Joke Day. He seemed embarrassed and asked if he could hold my hand- I said yes. He said he hoped I'd continue to be his patient- ummm, NO. All I kept thinking was that this bigotry was being perpetuated in a professional setting, possibly with others who shared the same tasteless and hurtful sense of humor. I wondered if all the technicians who worked with him thought he was a funny guy. I felt numb on my way out the door of Carlin Vision. The shock turned into a sting that has not subsided. If I could rate CarlinVision zero stars I would. I recently had an eye appointment and waited for almost 2 hours for my eye to dilate while my doctor took more clients and when I asked when it would be my turn no one had an answer. So I missed another doctor's appointment I had scheduled for that day. I had to come back in to pick up my trial lenses because they never have mine in stock because of my astigmatism. And those pair were the wrong prescription. So I had to try another trial pair and when I came to pick them up they sent them back to the lab without my knowledge or letting me know there was a limit to how long they could be there and the assistant said the doctor is too busy to look at my file. Also when I called to discuss the matter the person who is in charge of my lenses was very unapologetic . My whole family goes to Carlin Vision but we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Was referred here by the ER. Was really impressed at first by the friendliness of the front desk staff and the waiting room. Then I realized why the waiting room was so nice. A 90-minute wait in the waiting room before being called in the back. Then another 30-min wait in the actually exam room. I saw Dr. Bennett-son. Her bed-side manner was lacking. Treated me as though I didn't need to be there, even though I had my ER report. 5 minutes with her and I was sent back home. I have been to CarlinVision twice in the past year. The first visit was for my annual exam and prescription change. I was not displeased, but was not as happy as I was with my previous ophthalmologist who move out of state. Things took a turn downhill when I was told that my insurance was only accepted at CarlinVision for services, not glasses or contact lenses. I really wasn't going to go back. Fast forward to today, 11/9/2017. I accidentally scratched my eye. Realizing it needed attention, I called CarlinVision. Dr. Michael DeRosa was available to see me as soon as I could get there. Wow! Dr. DeRosa and the staff were great! He attended to my injury quickly, set me up with a "bandage contact lens" to protect the injury and an Rx called into my pharmacy for antibiotic drops. I felt better and was one happy camper! I go back in the morning for a recheck. Dr. DeRosa will definitely be my go to ophthalmologist from now on! The prompt care and professionalism that I received this morning trumps the practice not taking my insurance for glasses. I will just shop for another insurance plan that covers Dr. DeRosa! read more

Made an appointment in June to have a Saturday appointment in October that wouldn't conflict with my work schedule, a week before I got a call that the doctor would not be in that day, and no other doctor that was in that day would take my insurance. Rescheduled for the following Saturday, and upon arrival was informed that the receptionist did not put me into their system. my first time visiting this eye care on 02/28/2021 the prescription I obtain from them caused an eye strain which left my eye red and irritated, was seen on 03/05/2021 charged a 40 co payment A( which i learned from my insurance company i was suppose to only pay 258.00) I did not have this problem until I started wearing the prescription glasses from them. was suppose to do a follow 03/11/2021 when i arrive i was told they called me and cancelled my appointment due to the provider having an emergency, which you have no control over I arrive 17 miles later only to be told they called the wrong number and left a message on the wrong voicemail. ok another human error. My appointment was at 1615. I was told i could be seen but there were 5 people ahead of me, even though I had an appointment?? there errors became my problem. I notified the person who recommended she stated I should do a formal complaint. I told her I think that was necessary I will do a review and word of mouth is the best messenger. I do not want anyone else to experience this kind of service and yes I did have to take my glasses elsewhere and fix the prescription. My parents no longer go there because of my experience. so not only did i get poor service I was overcharged according to my insurance company BCBS. read more

I have been a patient at Carlin Vision for a few years now. My doctor is Dr. Thornhill, whom I love! Great doctor, punctual and very attentive. However, recently I had an experience with Dr. Bennett-Sims at that office. I'll say that was not a good experience. Her bed side manner was not good at all and I wasnt called in until an hour after my appointment time. After receiving a minor eye surgery, I left with no instructions on what I can or can not do following the surgery. I resorted to the internet for some guidance and found out there are several things I shouldn't to for a while following this type of surgery. I wouldnt change facilities because of this unpleasant experience, but I will not see Dr. Bennett-Sims again. read more

My mother was in the hospital following a stroke. The hospital lost her glasses. I called the office seven times. Never got a call back. Finally at 4 I finally got a person on the phone. I explained the situation. The person told me she would talk to the doctor who was finishing up with a patient and then she would call me back. At 5:02 I called the office and got the answering service. I said it was an emergency since my moms glasses had been lost 3 days earlier ( no one at the hospital told me for three days). I said the office closes at 5 surely someone is there. I begged the answering service to call the office and have them call me back. The answering service informed me the doctors have it clearly written in the contract that the answering service is not to call them about glasses replacement. I begged her again, she stated they are not allowed to call about glasses. As a person who has had serious vision problems since age 4 , I would be up the creek if I had to go any period of time without my glasses. I would expect the office to at take the call especially at 2 to 7 minutes after closing. I finally told the answering service that I accidentally stabbed my mom in the eye with a fork. She immediately responded what number would you like them to call? After 20 minutes the doctor called me back. At first unable to locate the record then realized my mom had been just over 2 years since her last visit. Despite having explained clearly my mom is in a hospital bed following a stroke the Dr. Asked me to bring my mom in because she is over the 2 years cut off. Idiots! If you want to the follow the rules and can plan breaking or losing glasses during business hours this is the place for you. If you live in the real world you might want to choose a practice that has people concerned more about the patient then following the rules. By the way, I explained both my parents had suffered stroke within 15 days of each other and I was bouncing between Snellville and Marietta. They agreed to send the prescription but when they sent it the sent a website address without sending password information for me to view and print the prescription. read more

Have been using Carlin Vision for 25 years. Not anymore, I has eyelid surgery and it was done twice. My eyes were totally messed up. Was referred to Emory Eye Clinic where it was repaired as good as it could be. This cost me another operating fee, requested that Carlin Vision help reimburse that expense since they did not do it correctly and referred me there to correct their mistake. They once told me they would do what it takes to make me happy. What a joke will not even respond to my request. Would not recommend for this service or will I or my family ever go back. read more

My first impression of Carlin Vision was a great one. they have a nice, clean and modern facility. However Im rating them a two (2) because of my experience with Dr. Bennett-Sims. Today was my first time, Front desk staff nice and so was the techs. But Dr. Bennett-Sims is NOT THOROUGH AT ALL! Yes she has quick friendly smile, but she has bad bed side manners. She wasnt in the room with me 5 mins!! I was there for astigmatism, I have trouble reading and night time driving. At the end of the visit she didnt ask me if I had any question, blew off my astigmatism as something minor, no need for glasses.( Although Ive have 3 different docs over my life prescribe glasses for me and cant read without them) she hands me a box of drops for eye allergies, what in the world? I asked her about RX she said well if you must have them, here.... I sat there feeling so uncomfy and offended, Then as fast as she came in, she left without saying bye, thank you, any questions, NOTHING! I dont ever want to be seen by her again, EVER! I had cataract surgery Dec. 2014, and the cataract went back behind my eye (burst the capsul) which caused a LOT of problems and pressure was way too high. Went back every day after that for one week, and finally was referred to GA Retina in Lawrenceville. They could not believe Dr. Carlin let me go one week with this problem as it could have caused blindness. I went Christmas Eve to GA Retina, and on Christmas Day too. They scheduled my surgery for the following day since the pressure was so high & the risk was great for blindness. Now I have to use one eye drop in the AM and one in the PM just to keep the pressure down, and was told I may have to do this the rest of my life. I still have problems seeing with and without glasses. I have made over 25 trips to see Dr. Carlin in one year, and over 8 to GA Retina in Atlanta & Lawrenceville. He will not remove the lens and replace it, and the pressure still remains high. It seems like no big deal to him; but, to me, it is extremely aggravating. I could have gone blind! read more
