I took a family member here for cataract & new lens surgery on a Tuesday morning. This is located off of Duluth Highway directly behind the Chick-fil-A. Small building, good parking & easy access to/from- a ramp for those who need it as well. The lobby is very nice with a TV to occupy your stay. It's clean, well decorated & the chairs are comfortable for a waiting room. All staff members were very pleasant, and all smiled!! When they too my patient back they said OK to walk to Chick-fil-A for a coffee... that's as far as they will allow should they need me at any point during the procedure- keep your phone on! My patient said everyone was calm, they laughed & the procedure was an interesting process. Not scary!!! We go back in 2 weeks for the other eye. read more

Been coming here since 2023. Got a new job with new benefits, so I called and asked if they accept my new insurance. Was told yes, so I come in and provide my new insurance card. When I checked out, I paid the normal $65 for "contact lenses fitting" (which is something I've never had to pay at other practices but whatever). A week later, I'm getting billed an additional $400 because they don't actually take my EYE insurance, they take the MEDICAL version. Since when did this information not need to be clarified? It would have been nice to know when I checked in that the insurance I had was out of network instead of making me pay $400 since I already received the services. Very unprofessional. Dr. Frank L. Winski was incredibly disrespectful to my mom, who doesn't speak English fluently. He complained about spending "25 minutes" with us, even though we hadn't even been in the room for 15-20 minutes. He refused to answer her questions, cut her off, and abruptly walked out. Instead of ensuring she understood her condition, he seemed more concerned with watching the clock. He also spoke to me condescendingly, as if I were ignorant--despite the fact that I'm about to enter medical school. I hope that when I begin practicing medicine, I never lose sight of what truly matters: patient care and compassion, not just time or numbers. read more

About five years ago I relocated here from Michigan to study law. As fate would have it, I had to quit law school to take care of a family member. As a former nurse from Michigan, I gave 29 years of my life to taking care of patients and their families. I came across Dr. Chris Kilian by recommendation from Dr. Ebewatt. My brother had cataract eye surgery and corrective lens surgery by Dr. Kilian. Not only did he explain to me as well as my brother and demonstrated what he would be doing and how. My mind was at complete and total ease. I highly recommend Dr. Kilian and his team. They are thorough and they follow-up as well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this physician. In the spring I went here to get a bump on my eye checked. I was given the option of an excision. After receiving a shot to numb the eye area I passed out and they called an ambulance to transport me to the hospital. Later I received a bill for the excision which I disputed since it was not done. I just found out that my dispute was denied because Dr. Poland said that he "Started" the procedure. I paid the bill but I will never go back to this office again. My partner had an ocular emergency recently and saw a doctor at Georgia Eye Associates Buckhead. The doctor prescribed prescription antibiotic eye drops which of course, were needed ASAP because his eye was red, swollen, painful and weepy. Again this was an EMERGENCY and the doctor was well aware of that. It took 4 phone calls back to the office, and over 24 hours to get the people who handle prescriptions for Georgia Eye Associates Buckhead to call it into the pharmacy! This was needed immediately. So my poor partner had to suffer for over 24 hours because we couldn't get the RX eye drops even though the doctor knew this was urgent. That goes against the "do no harm" thing, right? FYI there is NO PHONE at Georgia Eye Associates Buckhead, so if you call their number, you get a different office. Not helpful if you need any information from the Buckhead doctors or staff. There is no direct phone access to anyone who handles prescriptions at Georgia Eye Associates Buckhead either, and they're at another hidden location so if you need a prescription you have to call another office, and they put in an RX request. If the doctor "calls it in" to your pharmacy - that does not happen until much later because it's handled by some other mysterious group of people. Terribly managed phone systems and horribly inefficient prescription process at Georgia Eye Associates Buckhead! The staff is rude and incompetent - NEVER go here if you need expedient care or if you care about getting anything done in a timely fashion. They obviously don't care about patients' health, they just want you in and out, they want to get your money, and then if they're in the mood, they'll get around to calling in your emergency, urgently-needed prescriptions. The whole way they do business (and it is obviously a for-profit business) is shady at best. read more

I have been seeing Dt Kris Gillian at Georgia Eye Associates for several years and have been very pleased with the atmosphere, doctors, and staff. Dr Gillian is a marvelous doctor. Unfortunately, the outsourced (I believe Millenium) GEA billing and research departments are catastrophically horrible. Beware! In January 2022 I paid my $40 insurance deductible by demand upon arrival at my appointment. I paid in cash and received a receipt. I later received my medical statement from my insurance showing I did not owe a deductible payment for that appointment because insurance paid it. I immediately contacted my insurance to verify and we contacted GEA billing dept to request a credit or a refund. This began an absolute nightmare of phone calls to GEA billing department and GEA research department over months - over 20 phone calls by myself and often with my insurance company. Each phone call required a 38 to 58 minute wait time prior to speaking to a person. Several times we were immediately disconnected when person answered. The people in GEA billing and GEA research were sarcastic, rude, and unprofessional. We were continually lied to as to the status of the refund. Several times we were told the account was paid in full and therefore a refund could not be processed. On other occasions we were told there was no January 2022 appointment. My insurance fax'd copies of the medical statement and explanation of benefits on numerous occasions to both billing and the research departments because they stated they keep no records. Another time told refund in the mail and on a different occasion told refund applied to credit card. Numerous times we were told account was in research. Throughout the entire calamity I never received anything from them in the mail, email, nor phone call. There was absolutely no acknowledgement of the problem. While they are probably exceptional with collections, I can assure you they are horrible at refunds or customer service. After nine months of abuse, I finally spoke to someone on staff at GEA that resolved my $40 credit on a paid in full account almost immediately. If Kris Gillian, MD and specialist wasn't such a superb doctor and I wasn't supremely satisfied with him and his staff, I can assure you I would not tolerate such inept, contemptuous, scornful behavior from GEA billing and GEA research department employees. And this being for a simple credit or refund of a $40 cash overpayment with receipt on a paid in full account. Shame on you Georgia Eye Associates for doing business with Millenium and allowing such abuse to be heaped upon your patients/clients dealing with financial matters. Sad state of affairs. read more

This was our first time seeing Dr. Kris Gillian and it will definitely be our last! My father (who is 70+) recently had an accident and fractured his orbital bone and he had a black eye. The ER had referred us to see Dr. Gillian. When we made the appointment we were told they take Medicare/Medicaid but when we got there they said they do not and charged us $220 for the appointment. Once the doctor stepped in, he had fought with another nurse and brought that anger into the room. He spoke to us aggressively and he told my father directly that he didn't care about the issue he was having. After doing research about the injury itself and speaking to multiple doctors the treatment that he needed was supposed to be given by an ophthalmologist, which Dr. Gillian is, though in the appointment he kept stating that it "wasn't his job." At this point, it doesn't even matter who got the information wrong bottom line is that I called on October 30th and was told they would be in next week. Then there was another mix up and it was another week. Now, we are almost mid December and I still have not received the replacements that were supposedly ordered back in October. I was told another trial pair would arrive while I wait, nothing! However, a month and 2 weeks later, I receive a bill. I detest when businesses conduct themselves in this manner. My family and I have been going to Dr. Winski for the past 6-7 years. He is always thorough and willing to explain exactly what he is doing. I never feel rushed and he easily answers all of my questions. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my eyes. The optical shop has frames that are fairly priced. The employees there are willing to work with your budget and insurance to help you find the perfect pair of glasses. I just picked out a new pair of glasses with their help. They even called my insurance company to make sure that my glasses were discounted. My glasses were ready the next day! read more

First time waiting through their process number 4 in line all the way to click hang up. Then recall to be the 5th caller in line had to wait 30 more minutes to get answered by the rudest person I've had to deal with in a long time first she answered and I give my name she puts me on hold while I'm still talking she did this 2 times. Then tells me some crazy run around and I did not get my appointment... Forced to use them again and the same ole runaround no answer 1st in line had to call back to 4th in line no way should anyone have to feel like cattle. But I do with this garbage! read more

I've had visits over the past 10 years or so with most of the doctors at Georgia eye Associates. I found them all to be very professional and competent. They are right near our neighborhood and very convenient. They are always as accommodating as they can be for emergency situations. Have a good selection of Eye wear. They stock or can get in contact very quickly. I have had to wait a few moments on occasion for appointment. When that happens I try to keep in mind of the several times that I've had to come in for an emergency and somebody else must have gotten pushed back from the schedule a little bit. I've always used referrals for professional services and went with GA Eye Associates, Dr. Kris Gillian in particular for Cataract removal. This is a well ran business with a great staff. Dr. Gillian is a young motivated guy that isn't going to hold your hand and tell you how wonderful it's all going to be but he heard all my concerns and needs and made all of them happen, especially my sedation worries. I expected a perfect outcome for the surgery and got it. Thanks Dr. Gillian and all the really nice people there that took care of me. read more

Dr Winski and Dr Strauss were really good, but the back office is HORRIBLE. In 2019 (EOY) they file the yearly check as medical not with the vision insurance, of course my medical didn't pay and they refile it correctly. In 2020 (Nov), they did the same thing, I told them about it, but they said because of one part of the exam, it is medical.. I told them it was exactly the same thing in 2019. They told me they will work on it, but they stop returning my call, and now I am getting the bill with late fee penalty!!! read more

I spent 2 hours and 15 minutes at the office for a routine eye exam with Frank Winski. After sitting for 40 minutes (total office time at the moment 1.5 hours) after being told I was next to see the doctor I asked the desk clerk if she had an idea how much longer I'd have to wait and if she knew the average time a patient typically should expect to wait. She didn't know how much longer, but said patients generally spend 1 hour in the office. As I was speaking to her Frank Winski walked up. He was clearly aggravated that I inquired about the wait time. I went back to the waiting area then was called. When I sat down Frank asked if I declined having my eyes dilated to which I responded yes. He told me I needed to find another doctor. He proceeded to tell me I didn't follow up in 3 months after my last appointment and I needed to get my eyes dilated to monitor potential glaucoma (to which he admitted I did not need drops to treat it). It is a poor assumption that anyone would purposely neglect their eye health because dilating the eyes is an inconvenience. I simply forgot. Let's not forget that these offices attempt to dilate the eyes when there is no concern which is why it's optional and why I declined it. The office uses phone, email, mailers and text messages to communicate with patients. How about use one of those methods to schedule follow up visits? How about when I call to make my appointment remind me to be prepared for eye dilation based on the results of my last visit? How about when I decline this optional step while in the office remind me of why I may want to reconsider based on the results of my last visit? How about if you're going to take offense to patients asking about wait time use one of the four methods of communication to tell patients ahead of time how long they should plan to be in the office? How about when there are delays have one of the many office staff personnel that are sitting/standing around chatting inform patients of the unexpected delay? read more

Thank you to Dr. Winski and all exam technicians and front office staff that worked with me today! From start to finish, all steps of my exam were safe guarded over and above C.D.C. protocols for safety and disinfecting any surface, instrument, or exam seating that I came in contact with. They space appointments to do this before each patient enters any room and actually they do a careful screening before even allowing anyone in the clinic! I had thought to not get glasses today unless my rx had changed a lot but did go ahead with new glasses because I felt so comfortable with their attention to safety. read more

The absolute worst communication of any organization I have ever dealt with. Unfortunately, I have been putting up with this for years. If you have any issue, no matter how minor, be prepared for numerous phone calls, wait times, and no action. The only people that you can get hold of over the phone is the scheduling employees. They seem to be the only people that care. But, they are just acting as proxies sending messages to all other employees trying to get problems resolved. They suggested I sign up for the portal. The portal does not even recognize me as a patient. Did I mention I have been a patient for over 10 years? I had a small billing issue, the number they gave me was to a 3rd party billing/collections company. Since I am "self-pay" and do not owe anything, they don't recognize me as a patient. I am now on my 7th phone call, 2 hours worth of time, and nothing has been resolved. I decided to send a message via their website - don't bother, nobody reads them. read more

That was by far the worst eye dr. appointment I've had. I went to the Buckhead location and was a first time patient. First of all, every single staff I encountered there asides from the lady that checked me in had a nasty attitude the whole time. I'm not sure if everyone was just having a terrible day, but I felt belittled and did not feel welcomed at all there. Secondly, I was also dilated without no warning or disclosure of the side effects of getting your eyes dilated. My vision was off for the next couple of hours and I had to drive and work for the rest of the day. Lastly, you get a charged a whooping $65 (minimum) for a contact fitting fee, even if you want to keep the same contact brand. The lady that was helping me with the "fitting" didn't even seem like she wanted to help. That literally took less than 5 minutes. When I went to check out, another lady did not know what's the total cost of the whole appointment was and kept telling me they'll send everything to the insurance. I was so confused why that kind of information is not available to the patients? How do you not know how much the services that were performed on me were charged???? She kept saying it's not in the system yet? They also did not know what my insurance would cover. Typically this is disclosed even before your appointment. I was very confused and frustrated why they were not being transparent at all. The lady had to get another guy to tell me that my total service with the whole exam that took 5-10 minutes cost $350. Please work on your customer service and communication to your patients on what the total cost for each service would be!! I will not be coming back. The only reason I even give it a one star was because the Dr that did my examination actually treated me like a decent human. read more

I would rate me and my family's experience with Georgia Eye Associates as a one star because while the experience had clear good points - the eye glasses center had knowledgeable and helpful staff who were clearly looking out for the best interests of the patient, and friendly nurse staff were kind and efficient - they were not sufficient to cover the frankly terrible points of the visit. (I will not comment on the wait times, as this was my first experience, but they were long and the appointment window was missed by the office by a good 15 minutes, of which I was sitting in their lobby.) I was a new patient, and was seen to by Dr. Winski (with whom I had an appointment). While the measuring of the prescription, etc. was mainly done by the nurse staff, when I actually got to see the doctor, we barely touched on my eye health. I timed the visit, and did not see the doctor for more than 7 minutes. Was the doctor personable? Yes. However, I have never before been see to by any eye doctor in a one-on-one appointment in 7 minutes, and largely felt the experience was simply the doctor going through the motions and did not come away with any true understanding of how my eye health was at that particular appointment. This was the first black mark. Now, I am a person who carefully reads all paperwork, and assumes that the words on the page mean what they say. However, this was not the case here. I regularly wear contacts and did not come to the visit expecting to need anything more than possibly a new pair of glasses. When I got to the page of paperwork about contacts - the page reading in italics that the patient was responsible for all costs associated with contacts (to my understanding, if there was a fitting, etc.). This was NOT what was meant by the paperwork - instead, the meaning was to pay between $50-$75 (I forget the exact figure) to simply SPEAK about contacts. (This did not happen in my appointment.) When I and my mother (who had accompanied my brother through his visit) protested the charge at the end (as there had been no contact fitting, or in my case, even a minute's worth of talk about contacts aside from the fact that I wear them), the good doctor was abominably rude to my mother and myself claiming that, "If you didn't want contacts, then why did I waste 20 minutes of my time speaking with your son. Next time, don't sign the form." (As a point of information, both my mother and brother are quite good at telling time and both concur on the fact that Dr. Winski did not see him for even 15 minutes.) I got the clear impression that the office was trying to get more money out of me and my family (Irregardless, their eye glasses center had frames that were terribly over priced. My last pair of frames and lenses, from 5 years ago, are more sturdy and were less expensive than just the frames in their center). I will be looking for another doctor to see, as this sort of experience for new patients is questionable at best. I was simply unsatisfied by my experience and my mother and brother both agree with me. read more

I just tried to call to get my mother an new patient visit with a physician at your office. I told your scheduler it was urgent as she was having some difficulty with one of her eyes. Once she found out i was going to use insurance, she would not schedule me until I gave her the insurance policy numbers. I assured her I would pay out of pocket if there was a problem, however she refused to even schedule a visit. I explained to her my mother had Uncontrolled Glaucoma, was moving from another state, and needed to see someone at the earliest possible open appointment. She still refused to even put one on the schedule until I gave her the policy numbers. I am shocked and dismayed that this is the level of customer service from your offices. A customer is bound to pay no matter what, so it shouldn't matter if you have insurance or not.... schedule me in for an appointment and I promise to get you the policy numbers ASAP.... still the answer was no. I suppose cash isn't good enough for you. I am very disappointed that my urgency wasn't even acknowledged. Even knowing this was a timely issue, she still was cold, unwavering and not understanding. She fell back on "Policy" and "Procedure". Please be wary of giving this group your business, as all they seem to care about is getting paid, definitely not the patient in need. read more

I visited Georgia Eye Associates over a year ago for the first time (at the Tucker location). I was pleased with the offices and exam - found Dr. Rabitsch to be very attentive and knowledegable. However, the office filed the claim as medical instead of as a routine eye exam. I spoke with my insurance company and with the Tucker office manager and was told that it would be re-filed properly (within a month of receiving the first billing notification). Fast-forward to over a year later and I've now received a bill for over $100. No word from Georgia Eye Associates, just surprise! I have called the Tucker office, main billing office as well as my insurance. My insurance tells me that it's Georgia Eye Associates fault on mis-filing the claim (and since it's beyond a year, refuse to process it even if it were to be submitted correctly). Georgia Eye Associates now tell me it's my fault because I provided the incorrect insurance. That's nice to know now that I have no recourse except to pay them or have a bill collector after me. I have spent several hours on the phone and the person that I spoke with at the main office was snide and condescending. There are not words to express how frustrated I am and violated/helpless I feel. Sad, because they lost someone that would have been a repeat customer and would have recommended them to others (based on the actual service/eye exam). read more

I met with Dr. Poland today - GEA fit me in for a last-minute appointment for a worrisome eye problem that developed over the weekend. Dr. Poland and his staff were friendly and thorough. The intake was professional and friendly. When my symptoms didn't evidence anything obvious, Dr. Poland continued to examine my eye patiently and with curiosity. He spent as much time as was needed, despite the last-minute appointment. He was thoughtful, asked the right questions, and was empathic. He prescribed a conservative course of treatment and encouraged me to stay in communication about my progress. He seems to practice medicine as a calling, like they did in the good ol days . read more

after having my 2nd cataract surgery, I still need glasses for driving. Dr. Strauss gave me a prescription this morning about 9AM. I met with Robert in the Optical Dept and he said I was in luck that he had the prescription and it would be ready by 1PM same day. I was amazed as he first said 10 days, then when I told him I had to drive to work the next day, he went in the back and came back to tell me he could get done same day. Went out shopping and to eat some late breakfast, when I heard my phone. I was too late to answer, but it was Robert leaving me a message to let me know I could pick up my glasses and it was only 1030! He also discussed who would be cheaper, Medicare or my other insurance. Well there was a $100 difference, I'm sure most would not have said anything. I told him that I would be back in a month so maybe some more tweaking would be necessary. Between Robert and Dr. Strauss, I have hit the jackpot! read more
