my 86 year old dad was kept waiting for 3 hours. as much as I begged to expedite the staff was clueless and while people are sitting in agony in the waiting room the staff can be heard laughing loud and cracking up on their own jokes with no sensitivity whatsoever. I need to warn everyone about my experience at this office, specifically with Dr. Harpeet Walia. It's an administrative disaster capped off with genuinely shocking behavior from the doctor himself. The back office is consistently incompetent with insurance. You'll wait months for an appointment, then wait over an hour in the waiting room, only to be told your insurance is denied because they didn't file the paperwork. They will outright tell you they did, but when you call your insurance (Aetna), you'll find either nothing was ever submitted or you received a denial because they refused to fill out the form required by state regulations and their in-network contracting agreement. Then they blame you for it. But the absolute worst part was my interaction with Dr. Walia. After a year of this, I finally brought them proof that their office had used the wrong form--for the second time. Instead of apologizing, Dr. Walia took me into a side room and completely unloaded on me. He was condescending, yelled, and treated me like a child for daring to point out their mistake. It was a total Jekyll and Hyde moment from his usual calm demeanor and was honestly shocking. And guess what? After his tantrum, they suddenly "found" the form, submitted it correctly, and everything was approved immediately. Proving the problem was them all along. The cycle just repeated at my last appointment. They tried to turn me away again stating a claim denial. When I politely asked to step to the side while I verified the situation, the staff used strong language suggesting that I was unwelcome. Upon returning home, I find that once again, they failed to use the correct form. Now I want you to let it sink in that this was a RETURN visit for a previous turn-away several weeks prior where they claimed they could not secure any of my medication for "free". It turns out I had coverage during this ENTIRE period they were giving me this line about doing me a favor because my insurance wouldn't this or that. It's shocking how you trust, and follow the narrative of the people handling their duties, implicitly, only to find out reality is totally unrelated. Why even do this? How does this even happen? Save yourself the stress. The administrative runaround is bad enough, but being verbally abused by the doctor for holding them accountable is something no patient should ever experience. I wouldn't trust them with my care, or with handling a simple insurance form. read more

I'm 3 weeks post surgery for a retina detachment and have had a great experience with the Lawrenceville office and Dr. Walia and his staff. At my first appointment with Dr. Walia I found out that my retina was detached and I needed surgery right away. That was the day before a major ice storm was predicted to create catastrophic problems for the Atlanta area. Dr. Walia worked to get me in for surgery the following Tuesday, and then we discovered that the facility he'd booked didn't take my insurance. He told me to count on surgery on Tuesday and he would find a place that took my insurance. He did. I had surgery and everything has gone well, I have felt supported by Dr. Walia and his staff, and when I have called with questions I've gotten answers right away. read more

I've been going to Georgia Retina for nearly 8 years. When I started I had to go about monthly for treatment of both eyes. Now it's a little less than every 3 months. In all, at least 85 times. On every single occasion I'm treated with respect, friendliness and professionalism by all the staff. And I mean ALL, from the office staff to the staff assisting the doctors. I saw Dr. Walia after complications arose in my cataract surgery that left sharp pieces of lens in the back chamber of my eye. I was referred by my doctor, but I found out that my coworker pretty much worships him. I believe he lies up to the hype. I was in a lot of pain and they were able to get me into surgery the next business day. Nobody wants folks poking holes in their eyeballs, but I am here to tell you that the surgical team was probably the most efficient crew I have ever seen and I work on a lot of complicated teams. Everyone I came in contact knew exactly what their function was and each communicated quickly and effectively. There was minimal time wasted on every step of the process. They came in, introduced themselves, set expectations, told you how long they would take (and met it) and did their work. The surgery was completed well and I was out in a very short time. The follow-ups don't take long, even when the waiting room is full. they really respect my time. Really great group, all around. read more

First of all, I would advise you to absolutely avoid this Dr. Sean S Koh. He was rude and disrespectful to even the slightest question about my condition. He would not even try to tell me what my illness was. As a doctor, his attitude towards his patients is rude and arrogant. He is a doctor I would never want to see again. I cancelled my appointment today. There are many doctors who are kinder and more sincere to their patients than this one. If you ever see Sean S Koh, do not say anything. Went here over two years ago to get a contacts prescription. Doctor gave me the run-around when I said my vision was blurry and not improving after trying their suggested test contacts. Long story short - they never provided me with a contacts prescription, and are trying to collect payment for completed services. Their care was rude, unhelpful, and now it's progressed to shameful. We received a certified form letter telling us to "look elsewhere for retinal care" while they pursue us for charges. No kidding! We already have moved on. Stop trying to collect for services you never rendered. I will caution anyone from going here for eye care. STAY AWAY! read more

These guys... not so hot. Long time patients here - me for 4 years, my wife for a year - each with our own retina physician. Great doctors, but what good is that if you have an appointment but you have to wait 3 hours after arriving. It's a zoo - jam packed waiting rooms, etc. My wife and I both have doctors there and they're good at medicine. But in my 3 appointments and my wife's 4, it's always been a minimum of a 2 hour wait. The answer is ALWAYS the same. "Yes, well - we had a lot of patients we had to work in"... okay - cool. Work them in AFTER the people who have had appointments on the books for 3 months or 6 months! Every hour either of us spends there is an hour where we can't conduct our business and we lose money. They always apologize, but they aren't sincere and they won't make any changes to the way their front office books appointments. And I'm most certain they won't care about my review - but BEWARE! Unfortunately, we're both having to look for new doctors because we cannot continue to do this anymore. read more

Very dissappointed with Dr. Jay Stallman and his staff! I arrived for an 8:00 am appointment in Lawrenceville only to find that Dr. Stallman wasn't there and was told to reschedule by a VERY unsympathetic, uncaring front office person. No explanation was given. No attempt was made to contact any of the scheduled patients regarding Dr. Stallman's absence. Multiple patients were in the same situation as I was having driven for an hour to make this early morning appointment. The woman in line behind me, also waiting to reschedule, told me that she had worked last night but didn't go to sleep after working because of the early appointment. The gentleman in front of me told me that this is the second time that this situation had happened to him! I am Jeniffer C and when I first started at the Lawerncville office I was already very hesitant about seeing a new dr .And not knowing anyone and because of my eye condition scared to. The girl at the front desk was very rude ,and almost on the snotty side ,and the girls in the back were not friendly at all .I left there with hurt feelings and did not want to go back.after about the third week things started to change some what,the girl at the front even started to smile some..Brooke,and Claire are shining stars there they do everything they can to make your visit better by helping you in any way they can..Dr Stallman is very good and I trust him with the most important part of my body my eyes..so thank you to this office for asking me what they can do to help me..- And yes it is much better,and I will continue to send other people there that need a good eye specialist read more

Will never go back! They screwed up my billing and sent it to a collection agency. Finally I got a letter from them that I indeed had a 200.00 credit. I paid the remaining balance but they never bothered to notify the collection agency so they ended up putting a negative mark on my credit report. So now I have to jump through hoops to get their error corrected. Lazy and unprofessional! read more

Best retinal specialists in Atlanta, seriously. When I had an emergency Dr. Koh took me in right away even though it was after hours. The office staff is professional, and they all know what they're doing. I have since been 100% recovered and recommend them to anyone needing a Ophthalmologist. I have actually spoken with a couple other people who have been to GR and they all had excellent things to say too. read more

Dr. Walia was wonderful, caring...have no regrets about him. However, if you are planning to pay for procedure beforehand, think it over!!! We overpaid due to estimate given, so had to call and call and call for our refund. Also, since additional days were needed past the date to go back to work, the Lawrenceville office never sent in the info needed and the disability claim was closed with us not receiving additional disability!!! This was after they assured us they would be sending it in and after calling them multiple times. I'm just sorry these fine Drs. have to deal with the incompetence of these people. We will find a different medical facility in the event we need eye surgery in the future. As a suggestion, set up payments!!! Do NOT pay ahead!!
