Peruvian food is one of the under-rated Latin food that has delicious flavors. And this literal hole-in-the-wall in the mostly commercial warehouses of Vernon delivers & embodies this cuisine. Their empanadas are freshly made with vey juicy & flavorful sauce. The Aji de Gallina & Pollo al Jugo are so much better than the Argentinian empanadas. The Tallarin Verde had a wonderful bright pesto sauce & very soft noodles. And most of all, the Milanesa de Carne have very tender meat on a well-toasted bread. This was topped off by fast & friendly service. Overall a great experience worth coming back to & we shall. PS. My wife & daughter just ate the Pollo Saltado & they said it was better than El Pollo Inka. And the Alfajores was refreshing. They wanted me to get it again next time. Kudos to Jon-Carlo. read more

The food was bad, sadly the meat feels old and the pasta a la huancaina was dry! the service was good we left most of the food for 2 was $64 no bad but with something eatable was a waste! as a cook we know when something is old or bad any cook should send food like that you guys lose customers i never going back there... ambience is ok only a few tables that's it! 5 years later and I still enjoy Carlitas Antojitos! All the food is packed with flavor everything is made to order and fresh, the bread they give you while you wait for your food is so good, the soups are amazing, the lomo saltado just taste so yummy! Recently tried their pollo and wow the flavor is really good. Great spot! The service is amazing thank you to Giancarlo. Was craving Peruvian food. This location popped up near work. Went and it had its cliental. The man at the register stated they ran out of beef that chicken plates were available. I decided to get a pollo saltado since my go to plate is lomo saltado at all Peruvian restaurants. Waited about 30 minutes for my food. Place was understaffed, music was loud. Finally got my Togo order arrived to work to eat it and to my surprise a raw piece of chicken on my rice! RAW chicken just on top of the rice. This is as close to Peru as you can get in LA. The aguadito de pollo sent me into a ratatouille style flashback of my grandmother beating me with a vine of the pica pica plant. The fresh and crispy roll was complemented by the spicy aji verde. the lomo saltado was elegantly presented and mouthwatering delicious. The space is welcoming and the service is friendly. This place has a huge variety of Peruvian snacks/ treats + great food. The service was 10/10, our server was very friendly and attentive to our table. It's a casual sit in or take out location. Right when you walk in, you get to experience a bit of what Peru is about. The complementary soup and bread was delicious. I ordered the ceviche de camarón which was my first time trying it and I highly recommend. And my husband ordered the lomo saltado which is a must try as well! The plantains were so soft and fresh. This is only regarding hygiene: BATHROOM - no toilet seat covers, no paper hand towels, no soap, toilet paper on top of the tank lid. I asked the lady for soap and she told she would get it, I waited. Then she said to take a seat, I mentioned that I'm still waiting for the soap. She went to the kitchen and brought out a pump, it was hand sanitizer, I told her so. She said, let me look for it. I waited. Then she brought me my lunch and told me that we do not have soap. I told her that I can not have my lunch then because if I can not wash my hands neither can they (I know, maybe too much of a smarty pants BUT it is the truth). She then told me that they use the dish soap so I asked her for some. Unacceptable!!!!!!!! They set the tables with fork and spoon, no knives! The food wasn't as good as my previous visits, I've been there around 5 times and that number won't increase after todays visit. BTW, the young man who is normally there is a sweetheart, super helpful and nice!!! read more

Oh man, so my dad is a trucker and saw this new place pop up about two months ago, we finally got a chance to visit and will probably head back again at some point! It's a small mom and pop shop that offers, like there name states, antojitos (cravings/snacks). No big meal items which my dad was hoping for, but everything we got was worth it. Everything is deliciously delightful. I don't know much about Peruvian food but what I tasted fantastic! Especially the empanadas de lomo, arroz con leche, and the choros a la Chalaca (muscles.) They had run out of tamales so we'll be trying this another day. Service was quick for the amount of food we ordered. From what I saw it was just a mom and her son working counter and cook stations. We got there a little late so they might've been getting ready to close soon. They also sell Peruvian Souvenirs like scarfs, hats, and adorable stuffed llamas! As a Peruvian, I like to make sure our food and its unique sazón is well represented. Our food uses soy sauce, but you shouldn't taste like soy sauce. A good ceviche shouldn't taste fishy. I do not recommend this place. You could probably make these simple dishes yourself at home. I didn't use the bathroom, but it says a lot about a restaurant, if they are unkept. read more

The lomito al Jugo here is the best torta ever, plus I love the chicha morada. This spot is great for deserts too. They have cake and cookies. They also sell cute merch from Peru. Sometimes the wait is long if you're in a hurry but the food has never been disappointing! I used to come here at least every other week when I worked nearby and the staff is always super friendly. Literally the best lomo saltado I've ever had. I walked in and the host greeted me nicely and told me about their menu. Was very polite to me. As I got my food I could tell it was going to be very good. The meat was very tender and seasoned so well. The rice wasn't undercooked or overcooked. The onions and tomatoes were so juicy. I didn't enjoy coming down here at Carlitas Antojitos if I could give this place a 0 out of 5 stars I would for the simple reason that the restroom are very disgusting no soap , no toilet paper and no hot water. Food was good but definitely not worth the 25 minute drive and what makes me come here and leave a bad review is that not only is it a very poor hygiene place to eat at but the customer service you get here at this Peruvian Restaurant is very awful I asked this lady that works there for a bit more hot sauce and she gave me such a dirty look and attitude and she didn't even greet me when I stepped inside I also asked for a cup of water and she never brought it and what makes everything so much worse is that when I arrived I sat at a table and it was very sticky and dirty I asked her very politely if she can please clean it and she told me with a attitude I can sit somewhere else if I was satisfied sitting where I was at. Thankfully I was able to get her name Vanessa. I believe she only speaks Spanish but I'm writing it down in English for others can most definitely understand how the service works here. My first time coming here and my very last time coming here. If anyone gets to read my review please think twice before coming here read more
