    Lomo saltado: 4.5/5
    Maryjane L.

Been coming here for over a year now, and this is officially one of my top 2 favorite Peruvian spots in LA especially since it's way closer to me than my other go-to. The consistency here is also what keeps me coming back every time! I always order the lomo saltado (duh), and it never misses. The meat is super flavorful and juicy, and all those delicious juices soak into the fries and rice perfectly. The portion size is solid, but my boyfriend and I always end up getting our own plates anyway because we're kinda big backs lol. I usually call ahead and place my order for pickup, and it's ready in about 10 minutes, which is super convenient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even though I haven't dined in yet, the inside always looks clean whenever I stop by, and the staff is consistently friendly and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're anywhere nearby and craving a good lomo saltado, I highly recommend giving this spot a try. It's been a go-to for me for a reason!

I'm always craving good Pollo a la Brasa, but there aren't many places that do it well in the area. I usually have to go far out of my way. I had some free time and came here for a late lunch/early dinner. I remember reading mixed reviews. I often come to this plaza when I'm in the mood for a burrito from La Azteca. Since I was craving rotisserie chicken, that's why I came in. I was disappointed not to see chicken cooking on the fire and saw the oven empty and seemingly out of order - not a good sign. The server greeted me and asked where I'd like to sit. I sat by the television and window, but ended up people-watching. I wanted to order a half chicken, but the server checked with the kitchen and said they only had quarter chickens. That's kind of odd, since the restaurant's name is "a la Brasa". Another red flag. I ended up ordering the 1/4 Chicken with Rice and French Fries ($15.99). It was a pretty good deal, but when she totaled the bill, I saw $20.07 and asked about a service fee. The service charge was 15% and considered gratuity. I don't mind it, as I always tip 20%. The rotisserie chicken was pretty good, but not the best I've had. They serve it on a very large plate, which I felt was to make the portion seem larger than it was. The presentation was nice, with parsley sprinkled on the plate. The rice and French fries were good. The rice had a garnish of parsley and tasted like chicken rice. The fries were golden, perfectly cooked, and salted, served with ketchup. The chicken came with a green aji sauce that had a nice, mild spice. I asked for something spicier, and they brought out a habanero sauce, which was perfect. They don't give much of the aji verde sauce, and I used up both the aji verde and habanero. I was full after my meal and felt it was worth the price. I would definitely return. The service was attentive; my server checked on me a few times. The service charge seems appropriate, given the level of service.

Proceed With Caution -- Serious Food Safety Concerns & No Follow-Up I visited Las Brasas on Friday around 5:30 p.m. with my boyfriend, hoping to try a new Peruvian spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was empty when we walked in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We asked for a rotisserie chicken and were told they had run out of whole chickens, yet somehow still had chicken for all other dishes. Odd, but we ordered plantains, cassava strips, chicken chaufa, tallarín saltado de pollo, and chicha morada. Our server Teresa was extremely sweet and polite -- no issues with her at all. When I asked about the automatic 15% gratuity, she was kind but couldn't say much; that's clearly an owner decision. The food itself raised concerns. The chaufa was a huge mound of soggy rice with very little chicken and none of the typical ingredients. My tallarín came with a thick, unusually dark sauce that tasted extremely sweet with a bitter aftertaste -- not the traditional flavor profile I've known and cooked for 25+ years. After two bites, I stopped eating. The bill came to almost $93, including a mandatory 15% gratuity added even for a party of two, which is highly unusual. Within about an hour and a half of eating, I developed stomach cramps that progressed into diarrhea and nausea that lasted through the weekend -- all while I was preparing for surgery on Monday. My boyfriend ate some chicken too, so it wasn't the chicken. It was the sauce. I had only eaten an egg sandwich earlier that day, so there was no other food source. On Saturday, I called the restaurant to report what happened. Teresa answered and said she would pass my information to the manager, Sandra, but she almost hung up before asking for my number. I never received a call back. It is now Wednesday -- still no follow-up. As someone who works in food safety, this lack of response is extremely concerning. Because they failed to contact me, I will be filing a report with the local health department so they can inspect and ensure guest safety. If you choose to dine here, please proceed with caution. Maybe others have had good experiences, but something was not right with the food I was served, and the silence from management speaks volumes. Guests deserve better.

Great food and great service here for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the Salchipapas de camarones. It was tasty and very good.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Las Brasas Peruvian Food is a clean, inviting, and quiet spot--great for a Sunday evening meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, with friendly service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the Lomo Saltado, which had good quality meat but leaned a bit more on the sweeter side than expected. The Arroz Chaufa came with shrimp, chicken, and beef--a generous portion overall, though slightly on the dry side. Their green sauce, however, really brought everything together--bright, flavorful, and a perfect complement. Worth noting: a 15% service charge is already included in the posted prices.

    V. K.

I have been to the restaurant before and I remember the flavor and quality being better. Unfortunately, todays Lomo Saltado wasn't as good as I remember! The flavor was not Peruvian, it had too much vintager taste. Annnnnnd to my surprise, the 15% tip is forced on to the client... their loss, I usually tip 20%. Also, I loss my interest to tip more just by seeing it already assigned to the bill.

    TALLARINES SALTADOS!
    Lewis Y.

I became a regular after the first time trying this place that I never knew existed. Only reason I heard of this place is because someone that worked there left a couple of flyers at work. With that being said.. I've tried 3 dishes here that I cannot get enough of. TALLARINES SALTADOS, LOMO SALTADO & SALCHI PAPAS WITH SHRIMP... AMAZING and definitely recommended. Extra green sauce is a must as well. I have to try the rotisserie but I'm pretty sure it's good, but it's hard to try something else when you have your mind always set on those 3 dishes

Came here for a quick lunch, service was friendly and nice. Got the lomo saltado. The flavors were good. The green sauce wasn't very spicy or flavorful like other places. We also got a red hot sauce which was better but not super spicy.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Noticeably clean, smells good inside like home cooked food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the lomo saltado without fries. I've got to say the sauce is definitely on point. I enjoyed every bite. Also ordered: Tajin de Camarones. 8-10 Fried Plantains 10-10 freshly made. (Wish they had crema but I guess that's a salvo thing. For drinks we had the marcuya wish they had the seeds in it but still very tasty. Green house sauce is nice and spicy loved it. Waitress was kind and kitchen was fast.

The food was ok but this place left a bad taste in my mouth with the hidden "service charge" of 15% that they add to your order on your receipt! Once we paid with tip, we paid a much higher amount and felt scammed. Although we enjoyed our meal ok, and have honestly been to better Peruvian places, we won't be coming back due to the shadiness of their fees.

    Dani S.

Service was very nice and attentive. Food was ok. Small portions for the price. Came here for dinner one night and the place was not very busy. Got the Lima salado and a wrap to share. The wrap was good, the Loma salado just didn't have much meat or veggies, mostly fried and rice. Lacking substance. Probably won't go out of my way to come back.

So bomb. Huge portion of Lomo Saltado to go compared to other places. Delicious and authentic taste. My new favorite Peruvian restaurant.

    Dry lomo Saltado

Disappointed! Prefers a lomo extra juicy since they don't put enough of the sauce Ordered extra juicy and it's like I asked to make it dry ....

Here is our order: Chicha No Nada with Pisco: A very refreshing drink! Adding pisco was a right choice, making it a perfect cocktail to start off the vacation. Bass Ceviche: A great Peruvian-inspired dish! Highly recommend adding the crispy quinoa crusts for additional $3. Wood-fired Skirt Steak: This dish is very similar to Lomo Saltado, which is our favorite Peruvian dish. Steak was cooked to perfection. Yuca Fries: This dish was very interesting, featuring chorizo, yuzu-cilantro, pickled ajis, and cotija. It was delicious and perfect as a side dish. While the food was excellent, the portions were quite small for dishes that are "meant to be shared" as descrived by our server. Albeit this, our dine-in experience was very positive and enjoyable overall.

I was looking at the pictures on the wall and not even 30 seconds later, Ozzie (sorry if i spelled it wrong) came out handed me a menu and greeted me. The sauce was definitely the highlight for me--it was so good that I found myself adding it to every bite. The prices are also fantastic. For the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is truly a gem. That said, there were a couple of downsides. The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating available. The customer service also wasn't the best during my visit. Since the dining area was completely full when we arrived, we decided to place our order to go. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up, so we asked if we could sit down and eat there instead. We were told that because we had ordered our food to go, we were not allowed to sit in the restaurant. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat.
