We'd intended to eat dinner on September 12 at a restaurant we'd read about in the AAA guide, but we arrived in Red Bluff after its (early evening) closure. We then looked for alternatives on Yelp and discovered we were right across the street from the shopping center where Carlitos is located, and the high ratings dictated our decision to eat there. It was very fortuitous, as we *loved* Carlitos! The food was *delicious* (we each ordered the seafood enchiladas [$10.90/each]). We were first given a generous bowl of (warm/homemade) chips and we devoured them, so our server kindly brought us another bowl of chips. He was very pleasant and attentive, too. read more

Stopped here for a carne asada burrito to go. Pros: Ingredients tasted fresh. Burrito wasn't dry from too much rice. Steak tasted good. Satisfied my burrito craving. Good chips. Cons: No spice. Don't care for bell peppers in my Burrito. Wish they added some hot sauce and replaced the bell peppers with jalapeno. Salsa was way too watery. Drove 800+ miles in 3 days to do some hiking (only 9miles worth... :-( ) and stopped in to this restaurant as I have done numerous times in the past. It was about 4:30pm on a Wed. There was one family at a table. There was no one at the front desk, so I used the bathroom before picking up my order which I had called in just down the street. No one was at the front, so I rang the bell - still no one. Had to go and seek someone out. In paying the bill I noted a Surcharge of $0.55 - I asked what that was and it was due to paying with a credit card. I asked about that and it was implemented once they officially re-opened as the pandemic winds down. I guess this is the Welcome Back.... I wonder if places know that charging to use a credit card or even having a minimum total bill before a credit card is accepted, is a violation of their contract with credit card companies and they could have their credit card account revoked and they would be limited to cash and debit cards.... I won't have to worry about this issue there, as I won't be returning since I will be leaving the area - and if I were to be passing through, there are some other Mexican restaurants that I could visit - I just happen to be familiar with this one and liked one of their dishes. Just passing through Redbluff and stopped for lunch. As typical Mexican restaurants go this was better in every way than Los Mariachis downtown. Atmosphere, staff, food, and they had real Coke with sugar! What a difference! I don't drink sodas but it was good! I had fiesta salad which was perfect for a very hot day! read more

We had a large party-about 12 of us between lunch and dinner. Even though I called ahead they seemed a bit unprepared for us. The server tried her best. She was nice. But the wait for our meal was too long. The food was mediocre. Not terrible but not great either. You would think with so many Mexican restaurants in Red Bluff and with Guadalajara opening soon that Carlitos would try harder. Better step up your game Carlitos. read more

Was never really a fan of this restaurant, but it was the closest place to the job I'm doing, I know there are better taco trucks in Red Bluff. Called in order for 8 tacos, was charged ~$30. Picked up order got back to job and there were only 4 tacos in the bag. Called back to restaurant assuming I would receive some kind of apology or refund, the man who answered was rude and adamant that was the price for 4 tacos and rice and beans, I informed him the price was not the problem the problem was I only received half my order. Great service! Waiters and waitresses were super nice and friendly. While there, about 5 of them sang happy birthday to a 7 year old. They made it super fun and entertaining! The chips and salsa were yummy. I ordered the one item combo with a mixed meat (shredded beef and pork) crunchy taco. The combo came with beans and rice. The taco shell was okay; a little harder than I like and it didn't seem fresh. Rice was good; I didn't eat much of the beans. My husband ordered the carnitas with flour tortillas and albondigas soup. He said the soup was good. I ate some carnitas and it was good. I had a flour tortilla and it was warm, thin (but not too thin) and delightful. read more

Carlitos was a poor restaurant experience for me and several of my family members. The chips and salsa were quite delicious, and the menu sounded unique. I ordered the chili colorado, it had a decent flavor, but was severely overcooked, stringy, and dry. The beans were spread in a thin layer with flavorless cheddar on top, and the rice was garnished with a hair. Delightful. Nobody in the party was really satisfied. My girlfriend ordered the Mexican pizza, that thing was an abomination with what appeared to be a half pound of shredded cheese on top and strangely flavored checked inside. We used to come to Carlito's as much as possible because the fajita's are amazingly delicious and the service was also really good. Just recently they've acquired the building next door and expanded their restaurant. We came in for dinner on a Friday night around 7:30pm and were promptly seated in the newer area. We waited until 8:15pm before we decided to leave. Not one server or employee even acknowledged us. No water. No chips and salsa. Not even a "Hello, we will be with you soon." We were appalled and most likely will not return. This was one of our favorite places to eat too. So sad. When we started to get up and leave, one of the servers was walking in from an outside smoke break and finally acknowledged us. I informed him that we were leaving because we waited 45 minutes without any type of service. Without even an apologetic tone, he responded with "Okay, goodbye." read more

Great food and great service! That's what's important right! The employees are friendly and out going, plus they are attentive to your needs, my drink was never empty. It's family run, they have the best aboundigus (not spelled correctly) meatball soup. I travel to Red Bluff twice a year and make sure to swing by Carlitos at least once (ok multiple times) each visit. We arrived late Friday evening after about 12 hours on the road. A quick glance at what food was available left me with choices of some chain restaurants and a few Mexican restaurants. I love Mexican food, so I chose one that was easy to get to. Carlito's did not disappoint. We were greeted promptly and with genuine friendliness. The server was also very sincere. We had giant lime margaritas at really reasonable prices. The chips were fresh and the salsa flavourful. The chicken wings were crispy and tasty, but the fajitas were incredible. I'd order that again in a heartbeat. Prices were decent. Our food was served quickly, and the server was attentive without being intrusive. The true hallmark of a great Mexican restaurant--there are Mexican customers eating there! I will come here again whenever I'm passing through this way. read more

Amazing fajitas! The store front screams "strip mall - hole in the wall", but once you get past the awkward double-door entrance, the interior is colorful, bright and cheerful. Booth seating is a little tight for the "ample" patron so request a table if you fit that catagory. If you can get past that, the staff is friendly, menu extensive and the food is a-mazing. I've had the lunch fajita (steak) several times, arriving on a sizzling skillet with plenty of extras like guac, pico, sour cream and cheese on the side. And the pollo de la crema is incredible. Portions are generous, ambiance is fun and food is stellar. My absolute favorite lunch spot. read more

I doubted the reviews when i saw it from the outside. It looks kind of like a scam where they distract you with weird food while somebody steals your car stereo. Party of 9 and spent well over $150. 2 plates came to the table and the rest came over 30 minutes later. Server apologized saying they made a mistake in the back. However, plates were going out to other tables that came in after us and even during the 30 minute difference between the rest of us getting our meals. No apologies whatsoever from management. We did make sure to pay cash as we've heard that they charge a percentage for debit/credit usage. Will not be returning to this establishment. read more

This is very nice decorated restaurant. We came there on dinner time and waited 10 minutes to be seated, even they had a lot of available tables. We received water not immediately with salsa and nachos, despite of hot day ( 96F). We were waiting 30 minutes for our order. We received additional portion of nacho and salsa, but meal wasn't tasty and delicious. Vegetarian burrito was without promised mushrooms, only spinach tamales was good. It was edible, but not tasty.
