Cheese pizza is solid. Always a staple for us on a cold night in or after a night out. Wasn't a fan of the chicken wings - but only because of the sauce. It was a sweet buffalo vs more traditional hot. Just not my style of choice, but they were great in honoring sending only flats as requested. read more

We went into Carlo's for a late lunch after just flying in to JFK. They have a huge selection of pizzas and other foods. My wife and I each got a slice with pepperoni and shared a house salad. The pizza was average but good. The salad was very large, plenty for two. Again, tasted fine but just a simple salad served with vinegar and oil. Placed an order over the phone. I told the guy to repeat it to me to make sure everything was correct. When my order arrived, my penne alla vodka somehow turned into penne with broccoli and oil and garlic/onion. Very disappointed with the service. Food was okay tasting. I was not too impressed with their pizza. It looks like it has been sitting out forever and the only fresh pizza is the cheese slice, which they can add requested toppings to before reheating. The pizza is just so-so: -the crust is decent, but not very flavorful -it is very thin, which is my preference -sauce is too sweet -cheese is kind of bland But, it will definitely do in a pinch and beats the hell out of chain places. Their Penne Vodka was delicious an the serving was huge. What keeps me coming back is the garlic knots! They are small here, but covered in garlic, parmesean, and basil. So good! They keep the place really clean, or it was when I was there. The staff is very friendly as well. Sicily's Best is still my favorite slice in the area. read more

A place I have renamed "Hit or Miss Pizza" because some of their offerings are big hits and others not so much. Hits: Best thing they make are the Pepperoni Rolls. Little pizza dough balls with stuffed with Pepperoni and cheese. Alot of places make this and Carlos makes the best. Crunchy in spots, soft in the center, warm and delicious and cheap. Another hit are the garlic knots. Terrific little flavor packed knots served with marinara. Their Italian dishes like the Chicken Francese and Tilapia are also very good, Surprisingly for a neighborhood pizza spot. Their house salad is also pretty good and they put olives in it and I love olives. Tiramasu is better than you would expect. Misses: Biggest miss are the Buffalo wings. They are like wings in ketchup and the chicken itself was tough. Considering they have a huge banner for the wings in the window I figured they would be a specialty. Probably worst wings I have ever had. Their Sfingoli Slice was also a miss. Just pretty bland but as a Sicilian I have a high ceiling for this slice. The pizza in general falls somewhere in between. Three stars for consistantly tasty pizza. One extra star for the best garlic knots in the area. Five knots will run you one whole dollar. They are not overly greasy (like I want them to be), but they are flavorful with flakes of fresh herbs. Also, try the pepperoni rolls--hot without burning the plentiful cheese. The zepole also rocks. Imagine a slice out of a stromboli featuring thick cut ham, cheese, and a thin bit of pepperoni. It's pretty tasty and a bit different from the standard slice. The menu also has a number of heros and hot dishes that are on my payday tasting schedule. If it is anywhere near as tempting on the plate as they are in the photos, the shrimp parmigiana may be my new favorite menu item. read more

Carlos Pizza is a respectable neighborhood pizza joint. The menu is surprisingly large and, frankly, the quality varies a lot. The cheese slices are decent, but the "taco pizza" is an abomination. The cesar salad is good, but the wings are awful (baked!) and should never be ordered, for any reason. The standout though is their calzone. It is excellent. For about $5, they'll make you a fresh, meal-sized calzone, packed with delicious mozzarella and ricotta. For a little bit more, they'll put ham in there too. I order it with a side of marinara sauce and I always come away wondering how it only costs about $5. The guys who work here are always really nice too, and that, almost as much as the calzone, keeps me coming back. read more

This is one of the closest pizzerias to my house and it just so happens that it is a gold mine. The cheese slice is one of my favorites that I've had in NYC. It never fails. Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, a 2 liter soda, and a few other items from here via grubhub. When we opened the soda, it exploded all over our food. They didn't even place anything in a plastic bag. Just a delivery boy holding a pizza box and a two liter soda in his hands. The funny part is the delivery boy was in a car - not in a motorcycle. Which means there's no real reason for the soda to be shaken up if it was just placed in the backseat, unless somebody intentionally shook it up. Asked Grubhub for a refund and the restaurant said I could get a refund if I returned all the food. Then I proceeded to wait two hours and called Grubhub again and they claimed the restaurant was extremely busy and issued me my refund. They could've just done it in the first place without having me wait two hours. I can't write a review for the spaghetti and meatballs as it was inedible and covered in Coke, but the Cappuccino that was delivered was delicious, hence the two stars instead of just one. And as a piece of advice to the restaurant. Invest in plastic bags and insulated food delivery bags. If you already have them, then use them more often. A delivery boy shouldn't be swinging around a two liter bottle of Coke in his hand. And maybe invest in some plastic cups too, for those who order a two liter soda. You can't make the assumption that everybody who orders a delivery is in their own home, and has utensils and cups. It's a basic courtesy to offer utensils/plates/cups. And as someone who manages a restaurant myself, it's fairly simple to issue a refund from the Grubhub tablet. Or find the customers phone number and apologize for the problem yourself. read more

I've ordered from here several times and the pizza is ok. It seems like the driver is not allowed to go up to your apartment, which is perfectly fine with me since I don't have a problem going downstairs to get my food. However, the driver must hate his job because he is one of the rudest people I've ever encountered and will speak to you as if you're beneath him, and he's doing you a favor (even though I ALWAYS tip). I actually called the restaurant to let the owner know that his driver is giving his business a bad name, but the owner was even worse than the driver, which explains why the driver is so miserable. If this is how they treat people, I can't imagine what they're doing to the food. Never again will I order from this place. read more

Carlos Pizza is located not too far, approximately 4 blocks, from the Seneca Ave stop off the M train. It's a great neighborhood pizzeria that offers really good sicilian slices. I thought it was pretty cool and different I was able to pay for my food after I sat down and enjoyed my pizza. Most pizza shops make you pay upfront. My best friend and I also shared an order of garlic knots and it was really good too! We usually get a side of tomato sauce to dip it in but was so good without it. I can't wait to go back and try some of their pasta some dude behind us ordered. It was huge, smelled awesome, and they served him some bread and butter on the side. That's queens for you! read more

We had the chicken and tomato pizza (added basil) delivered and it was amazing. The chicken had a parmesan coating and the tomatoes were big and fresh. There was SOOOO much cheese that I couldn't imagine ever ordering extra. There was also a perfect ratio of crust to cheese to topping. Delivery time was pretty standard, we ordered on a Saturday night and it was at our place within 40 minutes. Also, when we got the box we thought they had accidentally given us a large instead of the small we ordered, but really it was just that giant!
