I was very hungry after our biweekly visit to my mom and my husband stopped here so I could grab a bite since we were heading to Roosevelt Field instead of home. They recently redid the seating area but we didn't try to find parking to eat in. I got a patty (no one in my food desert had them), a grandma vodka slice and a regular slice. I left off a buffalo slice because husband said he didn't want anything. The slice was as I remembered from growing up here, thin with a great sauce and perfect amount of cheese. Super good quality tomato sauce with a bit of bite but not too much. I also tried an excellent garlicky slice (don't know the name) with someone else saying that the margherita was outstanding and another person loved their classic slice. Not much to say here outside of really liking this place. The price was decent and the flavors were excellent. I can see why it's popular with locals as they were quite crowded when we went there. The last time I visited Rosa's Pizza was over 10 years old when I was a kid but since moving back home, I decided to stop back in. I absolutely love the Sicilian Pizza. It always comes out hot and fresh, plus the tomato sauce is just perfect with a nice salty sweetness! The staff is also super nice and one slice came out to be $2.98 which is a steal for compared to worse pizza for more in Manhattan. I might be biased because of the nostalgia but I truly think Rosa's in Maspeth is one of the best pizzerias in NYC! I can't say the same for the other locations I've tried but the Maspeth location never disappoints and reigns as the OG. The cheese and the bread were good, the tomato sauce was a little too tart. - Regular slice: Everything was very good with this slice, from the cheese to the crispness of the crust. Nothing was burnt, there was no excess grease. There was consistency in every bite. My hometown pizzaria!!! This place will always have a special spot in my stomach! Way back when in JHS I remember coming here with my entire class to have a pizza making class trip. And since we were allowed to leave school for lunch back then, we would all hurriedly run to Rosa's get our pizza w/ a soda and walk back eating it so we would have time to get to the candy spot, Cowboy Pat's AND have time to run around playing freeze tag and the like. The owners from back in the day are still the owners here and are still slinging delicious pizzas like they were back then too! I'm always brought back to my childhood whenever I stop in to grab a regular slice or their signature Sicilian pie to and from the city back to Northshore LI. The interior of this pizza joint still looks like it did when I used to go here every day during lunch and after school... just has a fresh coat of paint now... The ONLY thing that has changed is that they no longer just accept cash but now accept credit/debit cards!!! I'm happy that I'm able to bring my kids here to share a bit of my favorite childhood highlights. This plate from this location was not edible. I called to complain and the "chief of stuffed shells" told me he put enough sauce. Uh thanks genius. What are you going to do to rectify the situation? No resolution offered, a meek apology doled out, and a stomach left hungry and yearning for some good stuffed shells. I should have listened when my wife told me this place is a shhole. Their thing is that the cheese goes on before their sauce and their sauce is so good. The best thing is that it freezes great and reheats like it was freshly made. This is really a 4.5 stars. 5 Stars for the food- Last two visits have been perfect. They have really great garlic knots that are soft, fluffy, and super buttery and garlicky. They are such a good size I like to use them to make garlic knot sandwiches at home. I've had garlic knots at a ton of other places and these are my favorite ones. You really have to get them! Another fave is the chicken Marsala slice. It is deep dish style. The chicken broccoli slice is loaded with chicken cutlet and broccoli. Caesar salad slice is good always fresh tasting. Not my favorite in queens but it's decent. The half star deduction is because I've had some experience in the past where the sauce to cheese ratio wasn't great and too saucy but last two visits it was perfect. Also I've heard they don't treat their register employees well. Plenty of places to sit inside never had an issue finding a table. read more
