I came here for Mother's Day with reservations at 1245pm. When we were seated, there were no menus. We waited about five minutes before receiving menus. Among the first words out of the waiter's mouth was that it was a 90-minute time frame per table. The calamari was sub par and Mozzarella sticks were overcooked. It took close to 40 minutes for our two entrees, chicken parm and penne to come out. When I asked the waiter if it's normal for such a long wait, he responded with it's Mother's Day. After getting our food 40 minutes late, someone who looked like a manager asked how everything was. I responded with, disappointed at how long it took for our food to come out. Her response was rude. It's Mother's Day. We make fresh food. There was no apology or acknowledgment of fault. The chicken parm was a good portion and tasted good. Penne al vodka was ok. Very small portion. If the food is fresh, maybe the first thing they should tell customers is that and note a long wait time. Secondly, if a customer says something that bothered them, maybe humble yourself and be understanding. read more

Went last night for the first time, did make a reservation through Yelp, luckily, we did get a table that no one else wanted, ordered braciole with rigatoni, and a side of broccoli rabe And my date ordered a Caesar salad and potato croquettes, we sat at 7:45 ordered 8 And did not receive our meal until 9:20 Our server stated that it took so long because I ordered the braciole . Which is complete nonsense, and if that's the case, why not tell your customers it's going to take an hour and 20 minutes, the food was good I tipped the waiter accordingly 20%, and also told him I will never be back. I had the grilled shrimp over escarole & beans, my husband had grilled chicken & broccoli rabe wedge, others had shrimp scampi, risotto & chicken parm wedge. Picking up food was super easy during COVID as they have a convenient parking lot in the back. As for food--first and foremost, definitely worth it and great price point. Chicken parm: classic, two large pieces of chicken and good ratio of chicken to sauce to cheese. The chicken was a good thickness. Veal sorrentino: highly recommend! Everyone in my family loved it. Veal was flavorful, the prosciutto was light, and there was not an overwhelming amount of mozzarella. I dipped my bread in the sauce it was so yummy. Penne vodka: there could have been some more sauce. Pasta cooked al dente though! Parpadell aribiata: this was my least favorite. I didn't think the meatballs were anything special and the peppers were not hot peppers, so I thought the dish was a little plain. Overall, really enjoyed the meal, especially the veal. classic Yonkers restaurant. I have been eating here since the 80s. my favorite dish is the sliced and seasoned steak.

Occasionally we'll order trays of food for family events. First off, they offer gluten free pasta which makes me extremely happy. Second, our absolute favorite is the chicken scarp. I've had this dish from other restaurants and they are not all created equally. I think theirs is my favorite. The chicken is so juicy and tender. The sauce is tangy and spicy. Just hits the spot. The only down side is that we asked for our side of pasta to have scarp sauce on it instead of red sauce and they added red sauce. Other than that, everything is always delicious. read more

I made dinner reservations for 15. We were giving Carlo's another chance. We had gathered here before a few years ago as our regular place was closed for renovations and were disappointed. I had catered a private event for my daughter's graduation from Carlo's and another larger party they catered food for 150 people I threw. We gave it another try and were disappointed again. We were wedged in the back, could not move at all, getting to the bathroom caused a struggle for us and many tables in between us and the bathroom, appetizers and food came at different times. The food was just "OK" the service not the best and being jammed into an overly packed dining room was less than ideal. We will not try again. Very disappointed. I'll have to find another place as a back up. Carlo lost us as customers and I'll find a different place to cater from. read more

Waited 25 minutes to pickup a lukewarm pizza. I ordered for pickup was told 35 to 30 minutes. Arrived at 30 minutes, woman at the register turned around didn't even move and told me mine wasn't ready. I paid, tipped and stepped aside. She tells me another 10 minutes. I sit down with a view of the pizza oven tracking what's going in and coming out. Our special order is not any of the pies. I get a text meantime that my pie is ready for pickup. 25 minutes later I am certain I hadn't seen my pizza make it in the oven. I approach the woman and ask again and she's confused and asks my name again. And turns to the pizza guy and asks. And sure enough if she moved from her perch she would have seen it when I first came in. It was cooling on the shelf. Time for Carlos to get counter people that can move more than a foot from the register. No apology, just pushed my pizza at me. I got a lukewarm pizza because of laziness. read more

Their food is good but their party room pricing is ridiculous to be down a galley next to a loud & hot kitchen with bussers and staff walking past your guests. They charge a "facility" fee that is ridiculous for the venue. They also don't have speakers you have to bring your own. To grab a bite great! Does customer loyalty not matter anymore? I've listed receipts to show everyone how many times I've order from Carlos ($1,000+) just for this year. It's very clear to see that I'm a big time customer since they used to be my family's favorite restaurant. This all started , January 22nd was my last order with them. We had a particularly hard time receiving our order, after waiting 2 hours for our food we called Carlos for an ETA just to be told that our food had been delivered already. Clearly that's a shock to everyone since we never saw a delivery person and this a place that has delivered to us over 30 times. I spoke to the manager and after a bit of back and forth they replaced the food and I thought that was the end of the situation. I called back on January 26th to place another order and was promptly told that they will no longer serve us. I then asked to speak with the owner (Shelia) and she told me that because they replaced about 4-5 orders in the past that were not up to quality, she views it as too much of a burden to keep me as a customer and her words "we can't satisfy you". Then told me not to return. She also went as far to tell me that she believed her driver had delivered the food, over her longtime customer that has no reason to lie and has a proven track record of over $1200 worth of food in one year. I'm writing this review because I'm disgusted and appalled by the behavior shown by the owner and managers. I've been a longtime customer of this restaurant and to be told that they feel they can no longer satisfy my family and told not to return is almost a slap in the face. Carlo's was recommended by a coworker. So we decided to go. I have to say I have passed this place at least once a week for a long time and never gave it a thought. Well I'm disappointed in myself for missing out because this was one of the best meals I have ever had. The service was amazing and our server was knowledgeable and was able to give recommendations. The space is a little tight for me but the food makes up for it. It's family style for the most part but you can get individual portions which are huge. I can't say that anything that I tried last night we not amazing. They also have a pizzeria behind which I plan to try. But this is my new spot to sit down. read more

We started with clams and burrata for appetizers which were both tasty. I personally had a pasta but the rest of the table had chicken or veal and everyone raved about their choices. I've been here before and everytime it does not disappoint, it was a group of 15 people and we had calamari (delicious), chopped salad (to die for), baked clams (great), chicken Francese (amazing) and chicken scarpiello (which was good) unfortunately I liked everything but the scarpiello so I left it to a side and ate everything else. The ambiance is really nice and welcoming. However it was a packed place last night so the service was understandably slow because of how busy they were. Unfortunately when it was time to leave the women who came over to ask for boxes, and I stated no for the scarp I stated oh it was good but not to my liking she made a face and shook her head as if I told her it was disgusting - it wasn't nasty I just didn't like it. I found it really rude of her to shake her head with a face because we still paid for the plate - we spent $945 + tax and there was no need for it. Other than that I will 100% be back. If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant that' offers famiky style dinners at reasonable prices with fantastic and friendly staff, you should make a reservation and go to Carlo's Restaurant on Tuckahoe Road near the corner of Central Avenue! They offer parking right off Central Avenue( ( the lots entrance is just south of the Dunkin Donuts). We had a fabulous dinner! Our waiter was Norm and he seemed incredibly knowledgeable and treated us like old friends! My biggest regret was just discovering this wonderful restaurant after living in Westchester for almost thirty years! Fortunately the place was packed with much smarter guests who made it their business to come more often. If you are celebrating a birthday or special anniversary, the waiters make a great fuss which adds a great deal of pleasure for everyone in the dining room. We started with a family style Chopped. salad that was enough for twice as many guests but we took the leftovers home, so we weren't unhappy and it was delicious! We each ordered great dinners. I had one of the house specials, sesame encrusted salmon with a citrus sauce that may have been one of the most amazing salmon dishes I've ever eaten. It was baked with a crisp topping that added so much flavor that I'm still enjoying that experience hours later.Every one received large portions of food and none of us could finish everything on our plates! The food here is remarkable, from appetizers to entrees, however the service is spotty and slow. To be fair, it's always crowded, but the wait staff, in my opinion, are gruff and make you feel like you're bothering them. I don't recall, even one time, a waitress, coming over to check my satisfaction, or the accuracy of the order, once the food has been brought to the table. I go back time and time again because of the great food and close proximity to my home, but I find it difficult to tip (even fairly), because I never feel respected, or valued as a customer. The ambiance is trattoria style, very casual, but again the food is excellent, and worth the aggravation in the long run. By the way, I do tip fairly, 20-25%, but resent condoning bad service with a decent tip. read more

Carlos has been our go to takeout during the pandemic. My benchmark for an Italian restaurant had always been veal parmigiana. Carlos veal parmigiana has consistently been excellent. The potato croquettes are round and delicious. The sauteed spinach with garlic tastefully done. My critical daughter has had several chicken dishes and had praise for them all. I literally drive all the way up here from Astoria Queens, that's how much I love the food here. I'm not exaggerating chicken scarpariello from here is my favorite meal of all time. Like if I was on death row and I had a last meal that's what it would be. Also just the regular red sauce is incredible. Everything I've had here is good (chicken Marsala, steak sliced and seasoned, even the pizza) and the bread!!! I'm shocked by some of these bad reviews but if you notice they're mostly all because of service and wait time. Yeah you have to wait bc they are busy bc the food is so good!!! Okay so I ordered from the pizzeria downstairs that is seperate from the restaurant upstairs, which is for complete larger meals and sit down lunches/dinners. First of all, I ordered a chicken Marsala slice and a regular slice to go. The guy behind the counter in the yankee hat was friendly and we got talking about the NY Giants and NY Jets football teams. He was wearing a yankee hat & I had on my NY Jets cap. This is how we started talking sports. Now back to the food, I walked out of there feeling suckered by the price. How in the name of Jesus and all his saints did I pay 11$ for a plain slice and an average sized Chicken Marsala slice?!?!?!?!??! Wtf! I'm so disappointed in myself for not saying anything about this ridiculous pricing. I'm staying away just for that b.s. I will come back to try Carlos restaurant upstairs cause it gets rave reviews from the Yonkers locals. But you can count on me not ever entering that overpriced pizzeria again! If you've got a craving for classic Italian food then Carlo's will definitely hit the spot. The portions are ginormous and you can pretty much find any staple Italian menu item here. Although the food is slammin', the reason for three stars is the painfully slow service. It's always crowded here, and when I was in on a Wednesday I could have easily mistaken it for a Saturday night. The large crowd shouldn't be an excuse for how slow the service was, especially since this is something that they should be used to accommodating! We waited over a full hour in between our appetizer and main course, and the waiter didn't seem apologetic at all. They also brought out all of our food without serving utensils and it took a good few minutes to flag someone down for that every time. Now that I've gotten that out of the way I do need to talk about how yummy everything that we ordered was. Five of us shared three apps and four entrees and we left absolutely stuffed. We started off with calamari, goat cheese and berry salad and a burrata. The burrata was melt in your mouth perfection and the calamari was thick and crispy. For mains we split chicken parm, shrimp parm, penne vodka and veal picatta. Everything was classic and delicious and smothered in cheesy and saucy goodness. Sluggish service aside, I'll most certainly return when I'm craving a hearty Italian meal. Sometimes you just need that chicken parm and penne vodka fix! read more
