Ate here with hubby today. I had a salad with the flatbed pizza which has broccoli rabe, sausage and mozzarella cheese. I also had fried meatballs with cherry hot peppers, garlic, and onions. The salad and flatbread pizza were great but the sliced fried meatballs were horrendous. They were too salty and just not good. I've eaten their meatballs in sauce before and that is way better than the sliced, fried meatballs. Hubby ordered clams and chicken parmigiana. He loved the clams but felt the chicken parmigiana was fried too hard for him to eat. The staff is nice and the service is quick but I just was turned off by the meatballs. Another fabulous meal at Carlos's, this time for lunch. Because of the holiday, we had access to the dinner menu plus a special menu, a win all around. Loved the house Cabernet (and yes, it was a full pour). I ordered the chicken francese, light and lemony, with three cutlets and a side of potato croquettes that were absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the tortellini carbonara with pancetta, onion, peas, cream, and Pecorino Romano. Another excellent pasta dish, and plenty left over. Good pizza. I went to the lower level where they served pizza and grabbed a few slices. I was in Chicago a little while ago and had deep dish- NY style pizza is just more my thing. Much easier to eat and I can enjoy it more. They have tv's and a cool hangout spot under the restaurant but still had the menu for order. read more

This review is for lunch, not dinner. I never had a negative experience for dinner. It might be busy then, but it never deterred me nor was the service poor or strange. I do not write negative reviews, but this last experience was the proverbial straw. The food is absolutely delicious. I usually get chicken parm or francese. It's delicious anytime, in restaurant or delivery. Great retro music inside, rat pack. No one beats the chairman of the board. Old school is lovely and rare these days. The issue is service at Lunch. I hesitated coming because of previous issues, but I really wanted Carlo's. This is the third time I received odd, off putting service or less food than others who also ordered the lunch portion. Lunch portion is two cutlets. Dinner is three, usually one larger and two slightly smaller. I received one cutlet. In addition, this is the second time my plates or bowls were removed before I was finished. When I come for lunch, I dine alone. I tip well and in cash. Another time, everyone else was offered a free coffee or dessert but I was not. This time, in addition to less food and plates taken, other parties came in after me, ordered, ate, given check, and left before me. I waited for the check, had to ask a few times. The busboy was a better waiter. Promote him. I like to come but I won't if this is what happens. Maybe they don't like solo patrons. They were not busy; many empty tables. It's not like I was taking up a two top with people waiting at the door. I've been coming here for 40 years. A baffling shame. read more

Due to the prices (pretty high), I expected the food would be exceptional, but it was on par with any local Italian restaurant. I was disappointed to see how the restaurant nickel and dimes customers for everything: $5 added for anyone ordering an appetizer or soup as a main course; $10 added to the already high prices if you share an entree; $4 per person charge to cut a cake that you bring to the restaurant for an occasion. Finally, the 3.99% credit card service charge on the whole amount of the check when half + tip is paid in cash. The service was excellent, but sadly the rest of the experience was not enough for us to return. read more

This little tucked away restaurant Yonkers is the perfect Italian red sauce joint! It will leave you overfed with great apps, entrees and desserts while being served by a really kind team of servers. The space is small (but has upstairs seating for overflow) - it's slightly cramped with tables but it doesn't matter. Your neighbors are busy eating/not listening to your table. There are so many good options for salads, pastas and entrees and don't forget to look over the daily specials. Tonight my husband and I shared the spiedini alla Romano (essentially fried parm-crusted bread with gooey mozz in the center served with an anchovy-caper sauce), an arugula salad ( that was huge! And full of candied walnuts, Gorgonzola and cranberries) and a shrimp far diavolo. It was exceptional- and when we come here we wonder why we don't come here more often. read more

Not even sure how to start this as my friends raved about Carlo's and this will not be a good review. It was my dad in law's bday and we ordered catering for 20 people. The chicken scarpariello and chicken parm was fairly good. the mussels were ok. Potato croquettes were very good. The pepper steak was bland. the meatballs were dry and grainy. The chicken francese was the worst! the chicken was cut and cooked in big pieces, and some were raw under the batter. YUCK! If my nephew did not see it, we may all be in the ER. OMG. I don't know what happened to the catering services of Carlo's that day but my goodness. This was an ugly surprise for us. Maybe if it is a single, small order it will be fine but not for catering. Excellent Italian food my very favorite is Drunken Chicken Parm. Good service and ambiance. Sheila is a first class professional hostess, treats everybody with the same gracious smile and respect she greets everyone else. It is always advisable and just to be safe to make a reservation. Friendly staff, delicious food, especially the drunken chicken parm. They also provide huge portions even if it's for one person. The drinks/bartender however were absolutely awful. The cosmos were just glasses of juice, you can tell it's bad based on the color in my photo. A cosmo should not look like that. Same went for the margaritas. The drinks are all juice and sugar. Stopped in off the street from a recommendation and glad we did! Unfortunately I got so happy when the meals came out that I got right to it and forgot to take pictures of the outstanding meals they put in front of us. Just the garlic bread picture, and just look at that masterpiece! A nice relaxing atmosphere, casual, which is all me, and very friendly staff. The food was phenomenal too! Real Italian effort in crafting the beautiful creations coming out of the kitchen, using quality ingredients (as far as I can tell but sure seems it). Sure seems like a winner to me! We normally love this place but unfortunately we had a very bad experience tonite that was worthy of the department of health being notified. We were eating the Caesar salad when my wife discovered a dead bug in her food. We tried to be low keyed about it but my wife was too grossed out to eat any more food. They offered another appetizer but she couldn't eat anything else. The manager came over and said he would take it off the bill but she couldn't eat anymore and they should have taken the entree off and offered us coffee and desert. I would not be writing this if they did. I am sure this could happen anywhere but all things considered they thought it was " just a bug and a small inconvenience for us and nothing for them. read more
