We were so happy to stumble upon this restaurant, as we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere. We just visited the Oregon Caves and were famished. There is some parking in the back of the restaurant and street parking. The restaurant is clean and has lots of seating (great for big groups) with patio seating as well. There is an extensive menu with a wide selection of Mexican food. There is something for everyone! We enjoyed our food. Everything was yummy and well flavored. The portions were generous and well priced. If we ever drive by Cave Junction again, we would definitely come back! read more

The two cheese enchiladas were okay as were the rice and refried beans. Lots of cheese but otherwise just carbohydrates. Service was fast. Long wait at the front door to get noticed (rang the bell for service twice), long wait to meet our server after being seated in a very, very dark internal seating area. How did I find myself back in the Oregon Caves? If you must go, request a window because the dark section was depressing. Our food was fine and cooked quickly but tasted subpar. Really really good & so reasonably priced! I love the fact that they're open late, too. I got their fajita burrito with chicken & it was massive! It was 2 full meals in 1 burrito. They also serve chips & salsa on the house & if you want a simple fountain drink, they're only $1! I would say that it's not the absolute best Mexican food I've had in the area (compared so some places in the Rogue Valley, I know Cave Junction is Illinois Valley), but they're doing things right! We have eaten there on 3 occasions and every time we were disrespected by someone who ether blocked the handicapped parking or cussed at us for parking in the handicapped parking spot(I am 67 and handicapped with a plaque)it is the same person doing this every time and then she gets out and walks into the kitchen via the backdoor and and has no handicapped plaque. The waiter barely looked at us and was very curt. However apart from that the food was timely and yummy . The asada tacos are flavorful and not dry as sometimes happens with asada . I stopped by for lunch on a slow day and ordered the tacos with carne asada. The meat was grilled with just a little bit of char and the avocado was a nice accompaniment. The beans were cooked nicely with onions, tomatoes, and bacon but they could have had more flavor. Of course, I had no problem eating them all, though. Eaten here many times now since moving here. The good news is it's open every day, the other news is the food is improving, maybe because there is some competition in town with two other Mexican food places and some pop ups. It would be good if they turned their a/c up a few degrees, it's always cold in there. Food is decent, there could be another server or two since the waiters are pretty busy. read more

PARKING: is available and can accommodate a fair amount of people. No fee is required to park. VENUE: You may choose between the option of being sit inside or outside with either having a booth or chairs. The lighting inside is dim and the noise level is average. FOOD: I chose the mole enchilada plate. I am not a fan of refried beans and rice, but this is what they offer and it is mentioned in the menu. The mole was neither sweet nor spicy but gave the enchiladas a richer flavor. Very average dish. DRINK: I HIGHLY recommend the michelada with a modelo as a paired bear. As an Los Angeles native I have the opportunity of trying many micheladas and this meets up with my expectations. Truthfully, this drink is what made my experience all the better. SERVICE: At first, my partner and I were uncertain if I waiter was upset because he seemed the want to rush our order and didnt make much eye contact but shortly after everything seemed to cool down and he seemed more attentive and refilled our chip basket. So the food is pretty good and the service was great atmosphere awesome but it was missing something. I wasn't blown away by the food but as much as I travel I've become sort of a Mexican food snob lol. I only felt like it could of had a little more spice and flare to it. They also charge per glass of soda which doesn't come from a can so that made no sense sort of tacky. read more

Great food overall, nicely cooked, delicious and filling, with great service and good atmosphere. They also have a tv on the outer ring patio that they can play old movies on, primarily old westerns/Mexican movies. Toilets are a problem as they are small , cramped, mildly lit with only a few stalls, so those with a claustrophobia problem will hate them, so plan accordingly if you want to avoid having to use them. They also have a bar though I have not frequented it, it does look a little cramped but I can vouch for their alcoholic drinks as good. I am fond of their mexican coffees myself, they also have a good Weinhard rootbeer typically in stock to go with your meal, and I can vouch it's good quality root beer. read more

This place is great! You can always tell if the foods going to be good by the salsa, and that salsa has got some flavor! We both ordered the carnitas burrito which was pretty tasty. The carnitas were crisp which was a perfect complement to the beans and rice inside. But it's didn't stop there....the sauce that covered the top was delicious! Perfect seasoning and flavor plus the service is fast and the staff is always super friendly. This is an authentic Mexican joint and I highly recommend it. We try to stop and eat here every time we pass through cave junction. So if your in the area do your taste buds a favor. Also, there adult beverages are delicious! The strawberry basil margarita is perfect for hot days but if you like something more savory the michelada is a must. I recommend it with modelo especial but really any beer would work. I ordered the Carne asada plate, the steak was salty and the cheese enchilada side that comes with it was more like a greasy quesadilla. My daughter ordered the albondigas soup and it tasted like Campbells tomatoes soup, with some chopped up carrots and meatballs. My other daughter ordered 2 al pastor tacos and they were...different... I placed my order through the phone at 11:32 am, they told me it was going to be ready in 20 mins. I've been waiting for 40 mins for my order, it isn't the first time it happens to us. We usually take an hour break, so we call ahead to just pick up our order but then we got there and we waited for another 25 mins, I wouldn't mind if they would have told me it was going to be 40 mins wait but they said 20 so that's the reason why I'm giving a bad review. Food is usually good, that's why we always order from them, or we dine in. But probably next time I'll just go to subway that's it's crossing the street, and I think it would be way faster. The 3 stars are because of good food, and good customer service from Daniel. He's always really nice and friendly, but calling ahead and then waiting even more time is just crazy mostly if you have to go back to work since you're just wasting your time there. read more

Excellent food, massive portions and great service. We went here as a group of 9 and ended up ordering a variety of things. The cheese enchilada and the crab enchilada were terrific, the rice and beans flavorful, the mole was delicious and the chicken wings were pretty good. Stopped by on our way up through Oregon and not disappointed! We were going to stop at Subway but saw this and decided to give it a try. Delicious. You get a basket of fresh chips and salsa, and the menu has a lot of options for everyone. I got the carnitas tacos, and they were big and filling and had a lot of meat, which I like. This is my second time to visit Carlos restaurant, it's a good place to getting authentic Mexican. Today I ordered the #10 combo. Everything was fresh and hot! It took awhile to getting served, maybe they were short staffed, but it was worth the wait. The staff were nice and we had plenty of chips while waiting for our meal. I was a regular 2 -36 times a week customer before covid. Now that the restaurant is open again. I only do take out. I used to love to eat there but the last 4 times the food was very lacking to say the least, My hot wings were so over cooked. The steak picado was was so tough. I could not chew it. even the tortillas were hard. I do believe that it will be quite a while before I trust my business to them again. I can spent my $70.00 some where else.
