I have heard so much about Carl's JR hamburgers. I've seen them in California but didn't eat there. I'm from New York and for some reason they're non existent back home. No idea why, but there's one located a couple of blocks from where we are staying in Anchorage. I must try them because I don't know if I'll ever get the chance again. Well it won't be necessary for me to worry about another opportunity to eat at Carl's Jr. A big miss for me. Nothing special at all. I had the "Char Broiled Western Burger@ with bacon and cheese. A typical burger, but with little to no flavor. I had an order of fries that also were a miss. Oh and my drink, a Sprite, tasted watered down and just off. To boot, after ordering it took 10 minutes for them to bring out our meal, which we did get an apology for. Look it could be that it's so hard to get commodities into Anchorage due to its distance from the lower 48, but as far as I'm concerned it shouldn't compromise quality or taste. Hey did you hear me reference "the lower 48". I'm starting to talk like a real Alaskan. We'll be here for a few more days but you will not find me at Carl's Jr. again.

We ate in the dining area instead of doing the drive through. No line. Fast and friendly service. We received exactly what we ordered. It was hot, tasty, and plentiful. I had the Jalapeño double cheese burger and it was well stacked, yummy, and spicy. The dining room was clean and we had a delightful experience eating in.

Two halves of a patties stuck onto one burger. For an $11 combo meal it just seemed lazy.

Guy employee talking at the box and taking the money was short with me, not friendly, didn't smile, didn't say thank you or you're welcome when I said thank you. The female employee at the second window was very friendly and happy. I appreciated her attitude. The meal was hot and tasted as I expected, but the burger patty was broke in half and they stuck the two halves together. Which just didn't seem like the kind of quality control you would expect from a $11.00 combo meal.

This is their Hearty breakfast platter.

Would give zero stars if I could. Order is wrong, food is lukewarm, and sauce containers (wrong ones anyway) are damaged.

I'm glad that they had beer flights because I was unable to decide what kind I wanted. With some assistance from the bartender I chose 4 beers and every single one of them was wonderful. I would absolutely go back if I'm ever in Anchorage again. It does get a little bit loud and it gets very crowded so be prepared to either wait, or sit at the bar. It is open seating, you check in at the host stand and they'll give you a menu and you just find a place to sit. All in all it was a wonderful time and the food was great. I don't like fish, so for me to say that, you know it was good!

The servers seemed a little new, but the service was good and friendly. They carry Frontier brand sodas which we found to be excellent for their flavor. We got root beer and ripe raspberry soda. I ordered the Chili AK Salmon Bowl which our server confirmed is wild salmon. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. Both meals were really good. I especially liked the sauce on the salmon bowl so much so that I asked for a little more only to be charged for the extra sauce. I also noticed they include a service charge on the bill (note that this was not gratuity). They told us it was to help them get seasonal labor and to cover overhead. Maybe this is an Alaska thing, but with menu prices as high as these, why would you need to add a service charge? Pricing and nickel & diming aside, I would recommend this place.

I like to think of this food as a burger place with a drive thru, but not a fastfood place. There's a pretty good wait to get food from the drive thru that it's probably faster to go inside and eat. That said, everything tastes fresh, and piping hot. It'd be difficult to find a better burger bun because they make theirs in house and the taste is evident. For all American style burgers, fries and shakes with an Alaskan spin, this is the place.

If you're trying to get a quick bite, in and out of the drive through in under five minutes in standard fast food fashion, all with smiling employees....id recommend you go elsewhere. You're going here when you have time to kill, no rush in your day and just want a good old fashion burger. After perusing the few tables that had people eating burgers, decided to go with the wrap option, not wanting a loaf of bread surrounding my burger! Got the keto wrap, it had bacon and an egg, they must be pushing it or it's new, since it was cheaper than the wrap without all the extra protein. Either that or common sense took a vacation from the cold in Anchorage. Cashier was very helpful despite my clown like behavior. KETO Burger!!! Very pleasing to the eye, wrapped in a generous amount of crunchy iceberg, boom, could have used more sauce, but I'm a sauce kind of clown, plenty to get from the condiment bar. Nice crunchy bacon, boom, she said mustard was absent had to get my own. Over all not bad, certainly not the best in Anchorage like a previous reviewer, that was obviously may or may not be connected to the restaurant .... Hmm what am I some kind of a clown? A few tips to improve the burger, add on the tomato pickles and onions. Also burn a brand into the lettuce like the buns, would be way cool. And don't be afraid to sauce it up, some of us Keto types need a lot of taste to combat the boring taste of iceberg. Take heed, the clown has spoken,

It features a blend of barstool window seats, barstool bar seats, high-top tables, and standard-height tables. We went for a very late lunch, which made the quick food delivery and yet under-attentive service a little perplexing. Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."
