Since we have dinner once we arrive in Tahoe, we're always trying to find places open late enough for us to grab food. I decided to check out the CJ closest to Tahoe on the way. Ordering thru the app was easy as always. And you can use the coupons on the app as I know CJ's can add up. (They are one of the pricier fast food burger chains in my opinion.) I always adore a good lettuce wrap. For some reason, the ones here are always super messy since they just use pieces on lettuce on each side instead of actually wrapping the burger in a large piece of lettuce. I normally do not review places, however I feel obligated to leave a review because in my 29 years of life, I have not visited such a fine Carl's Jr than I have here at this Cameron Park location. Stopped by for our morning bacon, egg and cheese biscuit today. Usually a morning staple. Today We were so disappointed to open our breakfast to a cold unappealing sandwich. Hash browns were cold. Didn't find out until back on the road. Not a good start to the day. read more

You won't have a business without customers. If you treat your customers badly, they won't come back and eventually you won't have enough customers to survive. My daughter, my wife and I all ordered "hangover" burger which was free the day after the super bowl if you order through the app. All three of us ordered and I was given the task to pick all three up. Both my wife and my daughter texted me their order confirmations with their order numbers. Upon getting to the window at the drive through I was told that they didn't have any of the orders. The woman at the window even went so far as to say that the orders from my wife and daughter would require them to be in the vicinity since their location tracking didn't let them start the order until they were close. Both my wife's and my daughter's order confirmations said that their order would be done by 1:15? Is that a lie? Also, my wife's location tracking is off all the time and she uses the app all the time. What I got from them was a big load of B.S.#1 and B.S.#2 She then said that they would have to do their orders again. Really? I'm sitting in the drive through at the time they said the orders would be done with order numbers and they can't make the burgers? I asked if they could look up the order numbers...."no, we can't look those up." Load of B.S. #3 It sounded like the lady was going to have me leave the drive through lane and pull around front to hopefully get this done when her manager, Eric, stepped in and gave me load of B.S. #4. I ended up leaving with the one order (mine) that they did find. (load of B.S. #5) I've been paying good money (Carl's Jr aint cheap) for as long as this store has been open. They are consistently the slowest drive through experience that you can have and the food quality is spotty. Guess what....not any more. You lost my patronage and your future annuity that makes up my business. Look down in the reviews about a year ago on 2/12/24 from Sue T, and there is a similar experience from someone whose order wasn't found in their system. You should have fixed this issue a year ago (or more). I feel sorry for your employees. Soon they will be out looking for work because this store will no longer exist with no customers. read more

This is Carl's Jr is my favorite one to go versus the one in Placerville and Folsom (near the freeway). Since the pandemic, I have been living the drive thru lifestyle more so and have used this drive thru 4-5 times since. The food is always served hot, the burger fixins are fresh, packaged well, and terrific customer service. On my last visit, the drive thru staff person asked if I had a coupon. I did not, so she matched the prices to the best available discount option. That helped me save around $2-3 dollars. Yay!! The CJs is a block off the Highway 50. Pretty easy to get to and back in the freeway. To be honest, I do not know if the dining room is back open yet. I only use the drive thru. read more

I was in California on business and stopped in for breakfast at the Cameron Park location. I had a steak/egg/cheese breakfast burrito with hash browns. One of the best fast food breakfast burritos I have ever had. Hash browns were really crispy and the manager brought me salsa when he delivered the food to my table. Most fast food restaurants get terrible reviews, you see 1 or 2 stars often. Why? It's not clean, and that turns people off. This place is above average clean on my recent visit and even the restroom which used to be pretty old, at this location has been recently remodeled. It's the same old Carl's, but orders here come out fast, correct and it's generally above average for the genre. Patio and play zone for children is also a bonus. Parking here can be tight, but if you are coming through with a rig or boat, you can use the dirt lot in the back (near the motel) or the Safeway parking lot across the street and do some walking, through not very walkable Cameron Park. Of all the fast, cheap food in Cameron Park, a road stop between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, this place does pretty well. read more

The Super Star combo is the same as any other Carl's but its a comfortable place to get your energy back for the drive through the hills on the way to Tahoe. I'd say a 3.5. I never thought I'd ever review a Carl's Jr. I've never been or cared to go. But I've made the Beyond Meat burgers and I wanted to try it from a fast food setting. This CJ was modern and pretty clean. Some sticky tables but mostly tables were bussed and nothing on the floor. The service was polite. Dude may not have been 100 percent smiley but he was patient and helpful and showed interest in one of my tattoos. Food came out fairly quickly considering I doubt they get as many requests for Beyond Meat burgers as regular burgers. The patties are vegan but they come with cheese and mayo so CJ version is not. They are GOOD. Honestly. I really like them. They have a nice grilled taste to them, it doesn't taste weird. And with the mayo ketchup cheese combo (I've had them vegan before too, still yum) it's good! Wish I could get a double patty but it's pricier than a normal burger. I like the brand and I gotta commend CJ for adding these patties to their menu. This is to me the best plant based patty out there. Fried zucchini were meh tho. read more

I was so happy to find a Carl's near my work so I drove there during lunch, waited in the drive thru and placed my order. Team was friendly and seemed to have my order taken care of. When I opened my 5 piece hand breaded chicken strips it was the smallest chicken strips I have ever seen from CJ. I get times are hard but come on. We received a flyer in our mailbox (USPS) for a Gold Digger chicken sandwich. Now, I love chicken sandwiches and this looked like it would be a 'winner.' Oh, so wrong. We stopped in the Carl's Jr. in Cameron Park, CA on our way home from a quick trip into Folsom because we were going to stop at Safeway, across the street afterward. We ordered 2 Gold Digger chicken sandwiches (buy 1, pay $1 for a second) but what my husband was given had a pepper on it and NO bacon, plus it had cheese, never his fav. The service person did grab a couple of bacon strips for my husband to add to the sandwich they erroneously gave him after he asked for a new sandwich, the one he actually ordered. So basically, throw the bacon on and that will make the wrong sandwich ok? NOT! My sandwich, however, was exactly as expected, bacon, lettuce, tomato, breaded chicken piece, and the CJ Carolina Gold BBQ sauce. I admit I added his pepper to my sandwich because I frankly love peppers, but it was still tasteless except for a couple of bits that had seasoning in the breading. We also ordered 1 bag of onion rings. The total meal was, how can I say it nicely? UNDERWHELMING, to say the least. And what is it that they fried the rings in? The rings were undercooked and the oil is still sticking to my mouth and throat like a really bad peanut butter sandwich! Yuck! So disappointing. This CJ is the best, most consistent fast food I think I've ever had. Been here 5 times now, and every time it's been Noticeably friendly people, giving you Noticeably fresh food. I frequent CJ about once or a month or so over the years, and this location stands alone. Tonight I was their very last customer to order from the drive threw, and as always, my fries were as fresh as if I were their first customer. Really exceeds my expectations every time. We've lived within a few miles of Carl's Jr. for more than 17 years but today was the first time we went inside the restaurant. We went because we read that they're serving the Beyond Beef Burger which we've purchased before at the grocery store and prepared at home. Carl's has a Beyond Beef Star Burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and dressing. We really can't tell the difference between this and a ground beef patty. We seldom eat red meat and now this is a way to have a burger without the cholesterol and hormones. The restaurant was tasteful decorated in grays, reds and stainless. It was spotless and looked like it may have recently been redecorated because it looked so new, with tables, booths and counter type eating area. We ordered at the counter and they brought the food to our table when it was ready, which wasn't long. We each had a Beyond Beef Star Burger, drinks, and shared an order of fries and an order of fried zucchini. The man that we ordered from at the counter went back and changed the orders after we added the additional items, to combo meals which saved us some money. He was friendly and personable, a cut above the service at most fast food restaurants. He acted like he enjoyed his job. The fried zucchini was breaded, semi-crisp and deep fried to a golden brown, much better than we expected. The fries were typical. The Beyond Burgers got us in this place, but we will definitely be back for more. Prices are reasonable, although the Beyond Burger patties are $2 more than the cow patties. WOW. After many years of going to this place off and on (it's local and there are limited choices), and every time saying it was probably out last visit we went today. For some unknown reason, our burgers were delicious. The buns weren't soggy or smashed as usual, the meat was hot, and the cheese was actually "melted" on the burgers. AND, to top it off, the fries were hot and crispy. Most of the people working there are friendly and the service is good, but the food quality has always been abysmal. But not today! Service is always spot on at this location. Carl's Jr in my opinion is one of the better fast food joints in cameron park. The All Natural Burger was alittle different than i expected it to be with the bread and butter pickles adds a nice touch to the burger. The redhook fish sandwich was not as tasty as i though it would. I couldn't really taste the fish. The prices are higher end for the thickburgers but that doesn't stop me. The powerade machine inside needs to be fixed or something. It just sprays the blue powder and water the last two times i've been there. read more

For the third time I was over charged. The price charge is not the same price as posted on the sign outside. I have brought it to management attention 3 times. Never offered the price posted or make and adjustment, only attitude. Today, again sign not fixed. After the manager Steve, said price is posted inside and IS CORRECT ON SIGN OUTSIDE. This is the worst restaurant imaginable. Their supplier parked his Semi in front of the store blocking our exit for 45 minutes. The Manager Robert didn't care and the staff laughed at the fact we and another lady parked in Handicapped could not exit. The drive through line was quite long and moved very slowly. Aside from that, my burger surpassed my expectations for freshness and quality, it ACTUALLY looked pretty close to their pictures they use for advertising- they did not skimp on anything! Everyone knows the "expectation VS reality" experience when ordering fast food: The picture looks amazing and what you get is nothing close! Not here, it was a nice big fat burger with all the fresh toppings. The fries were fine, could've been in the fryer for another 30sec because they were pale and limp, but they were hot and salty so I ate them up.
