So far I've been respecting suggestions for burgers, even when I've previously been to said burger establishment and have a pretty good idea as to the quality of the burger. Carl's Jr has seriously made me second guess that rule. I've actually been to Carl's Jr a few times in the past and had a pretty good idea of what I was going to get. What I was surprised by was how easily this burger surpassed Short Stop for the worst burger on my gauntlet. This burger was so bad it was near torturous to finish (yeah I know, first world problems). What made the situation worse was that the good folks at CJ slopped about 3 times too much in the way of mayo and ketchup on my burger making it not only gross, but messy as hell. With all that said, their fries were not good, but they by far were not the worst. They reminded me a lot of the fries from Burger King in texture and taste. The team here is always prompt and polite. They recently started selling the Beyond Burger which is fantastic for anyone who is vegetarian or vegan. They almost always send out mailers with coupons to help make it an even better deal. Why I keep coming here? I don't know. But whatever the case, I almost always have a messed up order here. And because of Covid, the inside is closed so when I call back to complain about the mistake no one answers and the voicemail box is either full or not set up. She ordered her lettuce wrapped burger (that's the only reason we come to Carl's Jr. in the first place), and after repeating "lettuce wrapped burger" as she hands the bag to me, it contained a burger on a bun. Day 2 - "I'm allergic to dairy, so no cheese". Got it with lettuce, but also with cheese. When I explained dairy will kill her, the guy at the window who took her order smirked. My recommendation- take your jobs seriously people before you kill someone. read more

Ambience - Walk in around 3:00 and see that there is only one other couple here. The lobby is kinda of small but there is pretty much only booths seats which is great because everyone loves booth seats. The lobby was really clean which is plus when coming in on mid. The kitchen is an open kitchen so you can see right down the assembly lines and everything looked pretty clean an organized for the most part. The decor is mostly red and black and has a nice homey feeling to. The menus are bright and colorful but lack descriptions but then again they all have pictures, since most people cant or dont read them anyways. The vibe here was pretty calm and chill, clean restrooms and clean lobby Menu - They have a nice wide menu that ranges from the traditional one or two patties with cheese and the fixin's (ketchup, mayo, onions, lettuce, tomato and pickles) Then they have a nice variety of "California" or "Western" burgers. Some have BBQ theme and others guacamole. Their claim to fame is the charbroiled burgers instead of a normal flat top range grill. Similar to what Burger King used to do. I didnt see any side options aside from fries which i guess is ok seeing that this is a fast food joint. They also have Black Angus beef burgers which is nice touch for a place. Overall the menu is pretty decent for a chain. Service - Well the service was pretty lackluster. As soon as i came in i was greeted by the manager but the tone of her voice when asking "Hello, how are you today" was very similar to that of automated phone operator. It was all mono and no meaning. Her face was also devoid of any emotion or life. It was almost like she was a robot or a soulless mind controlled Uruk from Lord of the Rings. When she brought me my food she was just the same, no emotion, no life. If you have ever seen the movie Idiocracy, she was just like the hospital receptionist trying to pick a button to find out whats wrong with Luke Wilson. I also observed the rest of the crew and i never saw them communicate with each other. They all mostly kept their head down and just did their job. Strange.... i dont know if they hate their job or just extremely shy but it was kinda sad. So the service was just not there. No one was rude or anything but there was just no life in this place..... it was eerie. Food - So i ordered the their main "star" burger which is a double patty with cheese and all the fixins. After i placed my order i got me a drink sat down and less than a minute after paying i had my food. That made me slightly worried for a minute. I know it is fast food but that was to fast more like pre-ordered pre-made Chef Mic fast. Chef Microwave Fast. I ate a few of my fries first but was surprised to find out they were piping hot. Whew! Thats a good sign. The fries were good, they are your traditional shot to medium cut straw fries. They were hot and fresh(?) and seasoned well with only salt. No complaints on the fries they were good. So i opened up the burger from the wrapper and then watched as the burger slide apart like a bunch of oiled up people trying to climb a staircase. LOL, it wasnt assembled very well. I put it back together into a smaller wrapper for the picture. The assembly wasnt very good, most the veggies were on one side of the bottom bun which caused the patties to be at a tilt and the amount of mayo on top bun caused it to slip right off. I know us Caucasian people like our mayo, but d**n there was so much mayo that it made it very difficult to hold the burger together. Slip 'n Slide burger all the way. SO the burger was definitely playing on hard mode. The second thing was i took a bite of my burger as soon as i got it since i was suspicious of the time. And yeah, the burger was cold, the bun and patty were cold. Not good. But i know that fast food places have holding bins for food but the fact that it was dead when i got there and i was the only person for a bit, come on, i dont mind waiting 5+ minutes for the patty to go thru the Salamander. The redeeming factor of the burger was that the beef was really good. You can always taste the difference in charbroiled over flat top. And charbroiled is always really good. After i scrapped off quite a bit of mayo, reassembled the burger in a more proportional fashion, it actually was a pretty good burger. The main reason i say good, is that the beef (which is why anyone gets a burger) was good for a fast food place. But at the same time i get it, you have teenagers (for the majority) making your food, so you always roll that dice when you go to fast food. Overall - I actually give a 3.5 star but only for the 2 main factors of that the store was really clean and the product (when assembled correctly) is pretty good. But the service was like mindless drones. All of these factors are of course situational so there could be crew that speak, talk, and have fun at work. Growing up in OC, the Carl's Jr. near our home was the spot to go to before and after football games, on the way home after work, just cause we were driving by or whatev... Since it started opening locations around the Austin area, I have tried to go to both south and way south locations, and every so often hit up the location on 1481(university blvd). So this day I was running errands with kids, and realized that I would be driving close to that one. I told the kids, Lunch at the Carl's... with my daughter's friend in tow, we looked forward to our lunch. What can I say... the flavor is the same, the service with a smile, the same... and the overall experience... totally worth it. I have to say that when this location sprouted up it was one of a few options for food in the area, but the last time I went, OMG Food choices galore... and I even saw a DEL TACO across the street, I will be sure to go there as well... anyway, if you havent been, then go, they have great burgers and such.... read more

The food is easily 4-5 stars, especially considering it's fast food. The "6 Dollar Western Cheeseburger" may well be the best fast food burger out there. The well done patty combined with bacon, BBQ sauce, cheese, and 2 fried onion rings is the stuff of fast food nirvana -- and most likely continued employment for cardiologists as well. My mom wanted to tag along to try the low-carb burger, which replaces the bun with a lettuce wrap. She loved it. Also, I've got to commend them for being one of the few fast food joints that serves lemon with their tea (although the lemons are smaller than slivers). Now for the negatives. When we showed up last night, the restaurant was only staffed by two teenaged guys, which kept making me think of Beavis and Butthead. Alas, their devotion to keeping the restaurant clean was about the same as the duo from MTV. We had to work to find a clean table. In fact, when we saw either Beavis or Butthead cleaning a table, they never did wipe the seats down. In short, the food is great (albeit a slight hike up the toll road from my Northwest Hills environs), but the cleanliness keeps this from being a close-to-perfect fast food joint. My recommendation is that you suspend your sense of fastidiousness while getting a burger there, at least until Carl's Jr. decides to have some adult supervision around anytime the restaurant is open. read more

I've only been here once and that was back when I was still preggers.... I had a craving for BEEF which is a very rare occasion so after one of my OB appointments, my husband and I decided to stop here. I had never heard anything about this place so there was no hype to my expectations. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly staffer. The place was clean after all it was BRAND NEW! The service was fast and the burger was way better then both Whataburger and BK! I loved the vibe of the place and the fresh cut fries! So mmm....mm..good! This review is mainly for their $2.50 deal on the Double, California, and Jalapeno burgers.... The Jalapeno one has the oldschool Santa Fe sauce which kicksass! This is such a good deal for a double with their best suace and fresh jalapenos that are actually spicy. Not a fan of the California though; the sauce is TOO-thousand-islandy; I will not order this one again. The Double is the standard burg (no fancy sauce, Step Brothers) that anyone would like because Carl's Jr beef patties have a unique flame grilled taste. After eating these cheeseburgers, my brother said it was just as good as Five Guys... and you know what... he was right. And at $2.50!!!! OK I love me some Carl's Jr. I had the Double Jalapeno Burger .... man that's some good eats. The service was good, and fast. When the soccer team showed up they got a little behind .... go figure, 20 teenagers and their parents bogged down the joint. There isn't a lot of seating but somehow everyone that came in found a seat, that could have just been with the timing of people coming and going. We come here for weekday breakfast every so often. Good biscuits, good bacon, and I like that they put pico de gallo instead of crappy salsa on 2 of their breakfast burritos. The service is the best in the morning too. Wish they had bigger orange juices (they only have the tiny minute maid cartons) but I guess a soda's just as good if you're having a big greasy breakfast anyway. When I get a burger here, I usually get the teriyaki burger since its somewhat unique. I would recommend just about any other burger with bacon on it though. read more

OMG! I've never been to one of these places before and I will never visit one again! My mom ate her whole chicken sandwich and kept telling me it was fish. She couldn't even tell it was chicken until the end. Dad and I got the chicken club and I don't know what made it taste like it had BBQ sauce on it but it was really terrible. The onion rings were all breading, and that was tough and chewy; you couldn't even taste the onion in them. The only decent thing was the criss cut fries. I don't know how this place stays in business. I blame this trip on Chick Fil A because they're closed in Sunday's. read more

First off I want to say that Carl's Jr. is my all time favorite fast food place ever! This place has burgers that look like they just came off a commercial shoot every time i go and eat here. I tend to order the super star with chilli cheese fries every time i go and im never disappointed. The food always comes out well made and its not greasy unlike most other fast food joints. Remember that scene from Ratatouille where Ego takes a bite of the titular dish and is suddenly transported to a fond memory from his childhood? The Famous Star (no cheese, please) is my ratatouille. Most of the rest of the menu I could take or leave. Particular of the Six Dollar Burgers are pretty decent, especially the one with guacamole and bacon, which, consequently, I believe is called the Guacamole Bacon Six Dollar Burger. This place is near my work so I go here quite often. It's pretty good, they have a variety of burgers, their fries are delicious (no thin fries, huzzah!), and their service is pretty good. However, they put WAY too much of their special sauce on the burger. First time I tried it I had sauce all over my hands, so make sure you ask for less sauce unless you like eating that way. Also, their burger patties aren't quite as good as, say, Whataburger. read more

I wasn't sure what to order so I looked at their online menu and decided I would get their nachos. We get to the drive thru and I asked for the nachos and they say they no longer carry nachos. So I ordered my 2nd choice that I saw online: taco salad. They don't have that either. If you're not going to offer a menu item, don't put include it in your on-line menu!!! I sent in a complaint and they responded saying they were sorry and they had asked that this particular location's management contact me and follow up. The management at this location never contacted me. Very disappointed.
