I am beyond disgusted by the service her I came in after driving 2 hours to San Diego and I went inside to use the bathroom While my daughter ordered in the drive through and the cashier working the shift 4/18/19 around 8:30 told me when I couldn't find the bathroom "it's right there can't u see it" with an annoying attitude. Hadn't eaten at this location for about a year. Awful food experience. I ordered biscuits and gravy at 9 am on a Sunday. The biscuit could have substituted for a hockey puck, the bottom half was that hard. How do you over-bake only the bottom of a biscuit? (Maybe sitting for an extended period of time under a heat lamp or in a warming tray?) The gravy was thin and tasted like water. How do you eliminate ALL the flavor from sausage gravy? Literally, was like thick gray water with sausage lumps floating in it. Yuck! This is my second bad experience here. Right after they started serving Beyond burgers I tried them out. There was a "weird" taste to the patty, very reminiscent of back in the 70s/80s when Greek burger joints were a craze. Something about the spices added by Carl's. Didn't taste like a "normal" burger. (I eat Beyond regularly at home, so I know how they SHOULD taste.) So in my area, I have a Burger King serving Impossible Whoppers to choose from. Always fresh and tasty so they're my go-to option for a plant based burger on the run. Sorry Carl's but I won't be back to this location! This Carl's Jr. needs English lessons. After a very long and tiring day, we needed to get some food. We pull up to the drive thru and place our orders. My dad: "Hi, I'd like the famous star combo with a diet coke." Carl's Jr. employee: "Ok, a western combo. Anything else?" Dad: "No, a FAMOUS STAR combo." Employee: "Ok. Famous star. Anything else?" Dad: "Yes, two of the fish taco combo # 21 and the enchilada combo # 25" Employee: "Ok, combo #2 and 25. Anything else?" Dad: "No, two combo 21 and 25." Employee: "Ok, combo #2 and 25. Anything else?" Dad: "No, two COMBO VEINTE UNOS y VEINTE CINCO" Employee:" Ok, combo 21 and 25. So a famous star, two fish tacos, and a cheese enchilada." So we pull up to pay, and another employee hands us our drinks and asks us to pull over into a parking spot to wait for our food. What?? This is a drive thru!!!! So we pull into a parking spot and my dad and I go inside to get our food. Then the drive thru lady comes in through the front door with our food. We head out to the car to check, and they forgot my mom's fish combo. We head back inside, and my dad explains first in English, then in Spanish that they forgot one of the fish combos. When I was a kid after soccer games it was always straight to Carl's Jr. My dad loved Carl's a lot for some reason. I remember it being very good. Today, Carl's has loss it's touch and I usually only go when I need a bite to eat and I don't have much time, and close to home. That being said. They have a pretty good 99 cent menu, which I think is very important when reviewing fast food. A Big Burger and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich are decent in size for a buck. Tasty enough too. TIP: Put some soracho sauce on a spicy chicken. Improves the sandwich ten fold. My one major gripe with Carls is this: THEY PUT WAY TOO MUCH ICE IN YOUR DRINK IN THE DRIVE THRU! Every single time. Got an awesome Jalapeno Turkey Burger Tonight~! It was made really well, and had all the ingredients on the burger. (Sometimes you literally get one or two jalapeno one or two small slice of onion etc.) Lots of jalapeno, onion, sauce, lettuce, everthying thats supposed to be on it~! I get you don't have to pass an IQ to work here, but put in the minimal amount of effort. I just tried Carl's junior for the first time in my 30 year life... I don't typically do fast food because I am allergic to beef (I know, it's a very weird allergy), but my dog hadn't eaten all day and I occasionally spoil her with an occasional meat patty. Got a craving for Carl's after passing this location on the freeway. I checked if there was another location on my way home. There wasn't, so I got got off the freeway and headed back toward this one. I'm so glad I did. The service I received was awesome. The clerk helped me find the cheapest way to order my burger just how I like it. He was very kind and accommodating, and my burger ended up being perfect; very fresh with super crisp lettuce and a yummy soft bun. More than I could expect for dinner under $4 at 8:30pm. I'm not sure what warrants all the negative reviews. Even the positive reviews resist giving five stars "because it's Carl's Jr". I say that if the service is great and the food is good for the price, why not give some praise? read more

This is the worst Carl's Jr. I've ever been to anywhere. I've never waited in the drive-thru line less than 10 minutes, which is WAY too long, even when there was only one car ahead of me! This place is right on my way home from work and from the beach where I walk my dogs every night. So conveniently located, right? Doesn't matter. I'm never going there again because the service is just so bad. Please, can someone tell me why this American hamburger joint doesn't have a single employee who knows what a chocolate MALT is? Seriously, I like a MALT, not just a shake. After trying about 10 times, and every time having to explain the person talking through the box what a malt even is, I gave up. I have never seen more than a few cars in the parking lot, even at peak lunch and dinner hour, which should have been enough to tell me not to patronize this location. Business is so slow here that they have one person working both the drive-thru and the main counter inside. Understandably, with that set-up, customers on both sides receive the same crappy service. The service isn't the rudest I've ever experienced, but it is shockingly uninformed, slow and poorly managed. Someone needs to train these people what a freakin' malt is! And WHY, at 7 PM on a weekend evening, would a burger joint ever have to say, "We don't have any shakes right now." Why? It's like they had already shut down the shake machine or something. The managers here need to be retrained so that they can train their staff properly. It's like a punishment to try to do business with this establishment. I don't care if they have the greatest, right-off-the-freeway location in town, they are in a SERVICE business, and they need to start acting like it. The food is good but the attitude behind the counter sure leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Don't know her name (short with dark hair) but you'll know by the sound of her groans while she's having to go out of her way to push the bag of food within arms reach of the customer. And God forbid if you request ALL the sauces with your fried snacks. Oh man if looks could kill... My 2 sons can not stand her. They were creeped out and even embarrassed by her behavior and I don't think they ever want to experience that again. They're not the only fast food in town. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service went through the drive-thru at the night shift 915 pm. We had a debit card so the manager made us park and go inside to pay because the manager was to lazy to go to the cash register due to debit card. She gave my girlfriend and i total bad attitude. While waiting for our food they continued to help one of the employees that was ordering for her break they spoke in Spanish. I was concerned they would do something to our order. So i looked at the cook and she is handling our food with no gloves on. When she seen i was looking she attempted to put on gloves. Btw she didn't have a Hair net either. The only guy that was helpfull was a Spanish man that looked like he was new but at least he was polite. He had seen we were wait for our food that was sitting there for seemed like an hour. Friendly staff, my complicated order is mostly right most of the time so decent service but be warned, this place is just plain creepy at night. Lots of seemingly homeless people coming in and yelling at staff.
