The manager at this Carl's is the rudest person. The staff doesn't know what they are doing. I waited in the drive thru for 15 minutes before even getting to the speaker- there were 3 cars in front of me waiting to get to the speaker. After finally getting to the speaker after 15 minutes, I ordered a vanilla shake. After another 12 minutes finally getting to the window, the person at the window took another minute before telling me how much my order was- then turned away and was trying to figure out what she was doing as the manager was talking to her. I asked where my vanilla shake was and after I gave her the money she told me it would be ANOTHER 4 minutes for me to get my shake. This drive thru is the worst! My daughter loves Carl's JR so we go about 1-2 times a month as a treat, but I think today was the last time. Over the last few months it has gotten worse. I order her chicken stars with fries, once it came with onion rings and fries, once with no stars, only fries and another time no fries. So I always check and they are offended when I hand the bad back and ask for the right thing. They never get my order right either. I've been a semi-regular to this location for the last three years. But no more. The cleanliness of this location has always been a bit dicey. But with the COVID 19 concerns at hand, this location seems to not care at all. Visited their drive through twice in the last couple of weeks (always went inside before) and they are breaking cross contamination rules right and left. And we all know what they are, and supposed to be following. After my order I pulled up to pay. Went to give the lady my money and noticed immediately she was not wearing her mask properly, which I pointed out (cross contamination). BTW: as a customer I was wearing a mask, even though I was in my vehicle. After I got me change, I was able to see the activity through the drive-up window. This young lady was handling money, filling drinks, handling food, all without changing her gloves once (cross contamination). AND all the while not wearing her mask properly. It remained around her neck, but NOT properly covering her mouth and nose (cross contamination). I also noticed through the window a young man inside handling the food of several orders without a mask nor gloves (more cross contamination inside). When the young lady returned to hand me my food, her mask STILL was not in place. This time I was very direct and said: "Miss, your face mask is supposed to cover your mouth and nose." Keep in mind I still had my mask on. She said, "Oh" and then proceeded to put it on, still in the same gloves, touching her face and nose, and THEN picking up order bag and handed it to me (Seriously? CROSS CONTAMINATION!). Once getting home, I called the location and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to a lady named Brook who identified herself as a manager. I really wish I got the name of the lady working the window, but her name tag was not visible. But I had only been there about 15 minutes before, so I described her to Brook and said she knew who it was. After I told her this story, she apologized and informed me there was very little she could do but would be reporting this to her manager Louie. I asked for clarification, since she had just ID'ed herself as a manager. She then said that she was just a shift supervisor, but not actually a manager. So, on top everything else, she lied about being a manager. In any case, this will be my last visit to this Carl's Jr. location. And will be reporting this to the local health authorities. read more

Carls Jr has to be the worst place on earth to eat! We placed our order 02-13-2018 at 19:57 according to the receipt. That is 7:57 pm. We left out of there it was 8:20pm. Mind you we were the first to order our food. two others/orders came in after us. They got their orders before we did. We ordered $21.92 worth of crap. I live 4 minutes away from the La Mesa Carls Jr. I asked for fries no salt to insure that they were hot. NOT! My burger was dry had no flavor, my onion rings were so crunchy and dry that the onions on the inside of the crust was brown. I normally don't eat at Carls Jr. but I thought it was on the way home why not? WTF! Never again! Someone please explain to me how our food was cold as if it was made yesterday. Too bad there isn't a Minus Grade as a choice on this review. I'd give it Minus 10 Points! I have been eating at Carl's Jr's off and on for several years and routinely cause of the Chicken Club sandwich, or the "Chicken tenders" and Jalapeno Poppers. I finally ended up getting "sick" with some sort of food poisoning and had to go to the hospital. They took tests and I had to do follow ups as it was not clearly Salmonella etc...even though I had symptoms. There was even a possibility of "Girardia" which can be transmitted by NOT washing your hands or contaminated water. I started treatment right away and was still sick for 45-60 days. I spoke to the Carl's Jr.'s claims and filed a claim which was a total waste of time. They basically claim that unless the medical blood tests prove there was some sort of Salmonella contamination, they will not pay out. A food poisoning case attorney advised me to ask for $5,000 but that never happened. I was out the whole time and all I did was took homeopathic treatments, like Ginger root, Vitamin supplements, ProBiotic Yogurt etc...to replace my flora and liquids to keep my electrolytes up. Sometimes you can let it run it's course, but not when you dehydrate as it can kill you. Long story short is Carl's representatives didn't do anything to help me out or even keep me as a customer. Therefore, I never go to Carl's Jr.s in La Mesa. It appears their "Food Handlers" were NOT fully cooking the Chicken products well done enough on several occasions. I complained and nothing was done.(Under cooked) IT was such a hassle to have to go to the Doctor's office and give all those tests, but when you are in constant pain and cramping, you will do anything to get better. I strongly recommend you all avoid Carl's Jr.'s in the future and avoid the one in La Mesa like the Plague. I have inspected their restrooms and they are NOT the cleanest ones around. All it takes is a contaminated "Food Handler" to touch himself and then your food without Gloves. and you will most assuredly get sick. read more

I ordered the number 17 $5 box, which is supposed to be three chicken tenders, french fries, a cookie, and a drink. I knew the dumbass at the register would screw my order up, because he kept forgetting everything. I got home, ready to Chow Down on my chicken tenders, and what do I see? Instead of chicken tenders in my $5 box, I have a six piece of jalapeno poppers. No wonder Carl's Junior is broke, and the competitors are kicking your ass. The quality of employees you hire are a bunch of imbeciles. Also, instead of providing me with a normal barbecue sauce with a sealed packet, I have received, on two occasions, from two different Carl's jr. Locations, ghetto ass plastic cups with removable Lids of some off-brand type of barbecue sauce. When I asked the drive-thru employee what the deal was, she says Carl's jr. As fast food goes, it doesn't get better than this, nowadays. The atmosphere was so cool and pleasant on such a hot and stressful day, and Amelia gave me FIVE STAR service! -- very, very sweet and conscientious. I had the opportunity to speak with the gracious manager Suryon as well. I was able to obtain a reasonably healthy choice of a beef burrito with lots of salsa from the salsa bar. Spent $24.48 for 2 Bacon Truffle 1/2 pound hamburgers today at the Carl's Jr in La Mesa. TWICE I specified that I wanted both of them lettuce wrapped style. When I got home and opened the bag and the boxes they were in THEY WERE IN BUNS. We can't eat food that is in any sort of bread that has gluten and we can't eat any food that has touched the gluten product because we have celiac. Touching gluten causes contamination. Had to throw out the food. I'd be very careful what you get. I won't be buying anything there again because this is the second time this has happened. I don't give them a 3rd chance. read more

Went to this location a while back and had the worst experience with the lady at the window. Unfortunately didn't catch her name...how could I? She shut the window as I was asking for ranch. She basically threw my food at me and moved on to something else. Didn't get my ranch or a straw for that matter. With that being said I came here again and was pleasantly surprised by Brooke. We've been going to this location for probably ten years and the food has been good and reliable, until tonight. What we got was a burger with a dry cold patty, like a high school hamburger that had been sitting for an hour. I threw it in the microwave just so it would be somewhat edible. My wife got a grilled chicken sandwich, which she was unable to eat since it was undercooked and had a strange texture. She also said there was a piece of skin on it which we had never seen on the grilled chicken sandwich before. She's probably had this same sandwich dozens of times and always liked it previously. They gave us about half an order of zucchini, then threw in a bag of cold french fries to make up the rest? I'd follow up but the staff, who I hadn't seen before, didn't give me a receipt. I have been dining at this particular Carl's Jr. every since they first opened some five or so years ago. Lately when I go there (recent visit was last week), there are flies inside the restaurant!! There's absolutely nothing more annoying about dining out than trying to enjoy your meal amid damn, pesky, not to mention germy and diseased-ridden flies buzzing around your food, your head, or as was the case last week, literally dive-bombing me while I was trying to take a bite!! There's an open salad bar inside the restaurant, and I know those flies must have buzzed over the toppings and the salsa at the bar!! There's NOOOOOO WAAAAAAAY I'm ever going back to this place again!!! I work just across the street and going here was very convenient on my lunch breaks. Do not waste your precious calories here. We get it it's fast food it's probably not going to be amazing but it's just nasty! We went around 8 pm and I ordered a chicken sandwich. It was so hard and tasted like it had been sitting there for hours. On top of the food being less than amazing, the service was just plain rude. I clearly asked for a sandwich just bun, lettuce, and chicken and got just chicken and bun. When I asked if I could get lettuce the man with a very feminine voice at the drive thru gave me attitude and said, "You said plain." I repeated no I asked for chicken, bun, and lettuce.
