Older gentleman on drive-thru Wednesday and Friday nights should not be working on the window or headset, 0 customer service skills and extreme lack of patience, to the point where he messed up my order not once, but twice. On the same burger. I ordered a spicy double western, no onion rings, no jalapeños (just cheese replacement) I didn't get to finish saying my customization before he said, "does that complete the order??" like he had after each of the other items i ordered. I replied, "and i need no onion ring, no jalapeño on that." He said "ok pull forward" and I was given the spicy burger with 0 customizations. Tonight, Friday, i ordered the same burger and was met with a regular double western. ?? He rushed me again, and i believe this is the reason i did not get the correct order either time. Saying "does that complete your order" after each item makes me feel uncomfortable and rushed, i will obviously let the employee know when i am finished with my order. Disappointingly, it was too late to go back to carl's jr. and correct the mistake because i was already home, & when i had ordered they were closing in 40 minutes. It's no one's fault that he has to work this job, he should have respect and kindness while doing it, or work somewhere that doesn't involve interacting with customers. read more

Well I guess I should have looked at yelp before I came here... I went inside to order because the Drive-through was long... I came inside got my order in right away all good at this point... Then the person running the Drive Through was pulling the person who was getting my order ready... Then they almost messed up by putting my hamburger in someone else's bag... Came home and was missing the cross cut fries completely, there's a weird blue line across the top of my bun, the chicken filet is the size of a large nugget, and there is nothing but pickles for the topping...... read more

If you are walking there it's a 50/50 chance that it's drive-thru only (SOL). If walking there and they do happen to be open for carryout don't get your hopes up for biscuits & gravy as they don't serve that anymore. My boyfriend and I went to this location earlier this week for breakfast; the skinny Hispanic lady working the drive thru was very courteous and friendly. I'm always happy to see her at the window. That morning, the food was hot, hash browns crisp and biscuits weren't too greasy. Plus she gave us quite a bit of ketchup, like we asked for. Tonight, we went for dinner because my boyfriend wanted to try the Bacon 3 Ways burger. I wanted the Big Carl Combo but my conscience kicked in so I ordered the Santa Fe turkey burger.. My boyfriend's burger looked like it was dunked into a vat of grease...not quite sure if it was supposed to be that way. I was weary to take a bite, fearing it would taste how it looked- I should've stuck to my instincts. Very greasy, and my boyfriend didn't like it, which says a lot because he loves the Double Del Cheeseburger from Del Taco...The burger was also luke warm. He ordered a Beef, Bean and Cheese Burrito as well, and added sour cream. The burrito was at a fair temperature... but we're appalled at how it was rolled/wrapped. Worst slop job I've seen! The burrito guts leaked on all the other food in the back. My turkey burger was cold in the middle, way too much sauce, the chili was small and I received a tiny piece of lettuce. I guess i should just be happy to have gotten turkey instead of their common mistake of giving me chicken...the turkey burger was almost inedible. The guy at the drive thru was mediocre but towards the unfriendly side, and apparently giving is straws wasn't high on his priority list...didn't even have one in the bag! We asked for ketchup...was given 3 packages... I guess we will continue to come for breakfast, only, until we have a situation like tonight's. ...for dinner we will have to head to the Navajo Rd Carl's Jr because customer service and execution of their job seems to be intangible. read more

Wow Carls Jr has really gone down hill and I thought maybe it was just this location but I looked up all the Carl's Jr.'s in San Diego pretty much every location has 2 stars or less. I ordered a western bacon combo with zucchini instead of fries ... The zucchini portion has gotten ridiculously small and they weren't even fresh... Luke warm and mushy outer layer that should be crispy...but the worst was the burger...such a tiny thin layer of bbq sauce that I couldn't even taste the bbq sauce...I had to go up and ask for more bbq sauce...luckily the employee gave me two because I tried one at first and it still wasn't enough sauce,,, And considering it was almost $14 for this combo I was blown away by how cheap Carl's Jr. has become with their sauces and portion size... I looked around the store to see the cleanliness level...it was clear they tried to clean most of the tables except they must just be using water or cheap cleaner because the grease was still on all of the tables... And finally I made the long way out to the front door...3 employees up front including the supervisor chatting away with themselves totally oblivious that I was leaving or just didn't care as they didn't acknowledge me at all, they had no other guests in the interior of the restaurant the whole time I was there and minimal drive thru guests... I used to be a General Manager for Carl's Jr. many years ago so I know when something is off in a restaurant... Stay away! Hubby tried to order a veggie patty burger at the drive thru and the employee told him to just get a burger with only lettuce. When he explained that they actually sell a veggie burger option she finally agreed and then wanted to total out his order. She would not stop talking so we waited. He said that we had another meal to order and she said well why didn't you tell me? When he told her that we tried to, she said my husband had never shut up! OMG what a nightmare. Got charged $4.60 to make my double cheeseburger($2.49) into a combo. Total wasnt given to me at the time of order and the girl took my card before giving me the total. When I inquired about why the combo was so much she said that was just the way it is. When I had looked at the other combos on the menu they were less than $2 more. When I asked for clarification she left the window and called a manager in training over. Said something like can you explain how combos work to this dumb bitch. My husband, daughter and I visited today for lunch. We had coupons but they are only good if you both want to order the same thing 2 for $... So that kinda sucked... I ordered the Six Dollar Burger, my husband ordered the Famous Star and my daughter had the chicken strips and fries. My six dollar burger was very tasty and huge. They are very generous with their portion sizes in comparison to how much it cost. It's a very good value. I didn't get my husbands opinion on his famous star but he didn't complain either and I had a few bites of my daughters chicken strips.. They were delicious! The fries were good too. I think the Carls Jr staff has undergone the same training as the Chick-Fil-A staff. They were overly polite and ever thing ended with "My pleasure" :) I like this location. Ordinarily, I wouldn't do a review on a drive-thru restaurant, but stopping into the Carl's in LA Mesa, this evening, left a bad taste in my mouth, pun intended. My daughter had the chicken strips, which are usually good in other Carl's, were grease soaked as were the fries. I had the "new" beer battered fish filet sandwich. Also greasy, slimey, not crispy, yuk!! My daughter spoke to the manager, who generously gave her $6 back for my sandwich, and certainly not the $16 we payed for two combos. We also got the pink lemonade, which was the icing on the cake: no refills! I think these people need to stick to making burgers, and leave the more complicated things to experienced people, that know the correct preparation of food, before and after cooking. read more

I went here for a quick lunch before i went out for the day, and the food came quick and hot and is delicious as always, but whoever they had working the drive thru really hated her job. I understand no one loves working fast food or on a Saturday but she was literally so rude and acted like we were such a bother on her relaxing day at work on her cellphone. Worst Carl's Jr. I've ever been to. They aren't open 24/7 as it states on Yelp, on their official website it says open until 11pm, at the restaurant on a small tiny sign it says 10pm. Apart from that I was ridiculously overcharged for the food I ordered. Called corporate and emailed them as well and now awaiting a response, this location, the people who work there, and the manager are all a joke. This place needs to be shut down. Save your money and time and just go to the McDonald's across the street or The Habit burger up the street from them. Will not be going to this or any Carl's Jr., I'll make sure to let all my family and friends know to do the same. I really appreciate great service from young folks in fast food places (gosh, I'm getting old). I stopped at this location the other night and the gentleman that helped me was very polite and personable (I believe his name was Ray but his tag was a bit faded), and was hustling to do his job. The young woman that was working the drive thru seemed to have the same attitude. The food was good (if Carl's Jr could figure out how to get their bacon crispy, I'd be in trouble) and the restaurant was clean. The service is what prompted the review. It's not the most amazing of places to get a burger, but by far not the worst. The food is ok, with little mistakes made if you happen to get your order's made special. The food is generally cooked as well as you can expect for a fast food burger and the sides are tasty. The main issue I have with this particular Carl's Jr., and why I gave it such a low score, is their drive-thru is awful. It's always exceedingly slow, they make you drive to the front 80% of the time to help their times and three times I've tried to go through the drive-thru with them not answering the headset tone that someone was waiting at the box to order. Those days I just drove through and went somewhere else. I enjoy Carl's Jr., but I would avoid this one if you're in any kind of a rush or want decent customer service. read more

We all know that Carl's Jr. doesn't have the most fancy fare and really, it's only good for late nights that turn into early mornings. Orrr just a place that provides a vessel for your ketchup cravings (I know, that's weird, don't judge me). Anyways, the food here is okay, blah blah blah. What I'm really reviewing is the service... it blows. I opt for the drive thru when I'm lazy or don't have makeup on or don't have makeup on because I'm lazy... either way, I use the drive thru for convenience and so I can wear sunglasses without looking like a weirdo. Soo, after ordering extra ranch and ketchup, I pull up to the window to get my food and ask for it again. I'm asked to pull over and then I have my bag delivered. Friggen finally! I look into the bag and there's noooo ranch or ketchup! What's the point of asking so many times/using the drive thru if I eventually have to park and go inside to ask for it. Annoying. The other questionable service I received was inside the dining room this time. My husband and I walked in on what was apparently a more important conversation between two employees. The chick is leaning up on the cash register while she talks to her friend about how she's in pain and how she should do yoga or walk... I'm assuming this was because she was pregnant or chunky. Either way, I DGAF what your new exercise regime is going to be. She realized we were standing there and turned to look at us with the most fake and cheesy smile. At that point, I was already frustrated with her lack of concern so I was hoping she would make this easy on us. Nope. She didn't even know that the fries were changed back to their original style... not that BS natural cut stuff they were doing. Because she didn't understand my question, she listed off all the kinds of fried sides they offered. Wow. I don't make my way over to Carl's often, but I have had their Memphis BBQ Burger. It was yummy the first time and just ok the second time. It was gigantic and filled me up for a while, but also got me sick for a couple of days. =( I'm not gonna lie. I'm pretty stubborn, and might try it once more. Don't judge me! I just love bbq sauce. Pulled pork on top of a patty and an onion ring sounds ridiculous, I know, but the sauce might reel me back in. I've recently tried their sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. I don't think that I've ever been anywhere so messy, overpriced, and overrated. My husband I decided to go through the drive thru late last night.... they were not busy at all! I decided to order a 'protein style,' lettuce wrapped burger and after 2 attempts to get it right I left hungry and dissatisfied. The first time I got my burger it wasn't cooked at all and the cheese was not melted. So, my husband and I drove back through to get a replacement burger. The second attempt was no better- the burger was cooked but the cheese was unmelted and the toppings had been thrown on. It was so sloppy and messy, and the toppings were all over the wrapper. I couldn't have even tried to eat it, nor did I want to...It didn't even look appetizing. You'd think with drive thrus being the only thing convenient and open during the Corona Virus pandemic that they'd be bringing their A game... that is not that case for this Carl's. read more

The manager at this Carl's is the rudest person. The staff doesn't know what they are doing. I waited in the drive thru for 15 minutes before even getting to the speaker- there were 3 cars in front of me waiting to get to the speaker. After finally getting to the speaker after 15 minutes, I ordered a vanilla shake. After another 12 minutes finally getting to the window, the person at the window took another minute before telling me how much my order was- then turned away and was trying to figure out what she was doing as the manager was talking to her. I asked where my vanilla shake was and after I gave her the money she told me it would be ANOTHER 4 minutes for me to get my shake. I said give me my money back and the manager said here's your freaking money. Why did it take over 30 minutes for a vanilla shake? read more
