I've been here twice. Both times I was disappointed because of something being off on my order. The first time, they got my order wrong - I ordered a triple western bacon cheeseburger and they gave me a double. The second time I ordered my burger was burnt and lacking bbq sauce. Carl's Jr has always played a roller coaster role in my life, sometimes good and sometimes bad. Their concept of charbroiled burgers has always been a plus, but the quality and quantity of food has changed a lot. This location is on Freeport Blvd near Fruitridge with a drive thru and limited parking shared with Walgreens. Gone are the racy commercials with half naked women and dripping ketchup. The focus is now a bit more muted, however it seems the chain is cutting back on serving size to keep prices down. My California Classic burger was supposed to be a competitor to the In-N-Out Double Double, but the Carl's version pales in comparison. The tiny patties had a nice grilled taste, but were buried underneath cold cheese and too many toppings. The fries were basic and also undersized. I recommend sticking with the classics and large burgers. You do get what you pay for, and Carl's Jr has many great options including fried zucchini and their Western Star. This location has funky access, but it has been remodeled. Unfortunately, the quality has suffered and is hard to justify in the neighborhood. read more

This Carls Jrs restaurant is currently promoting a new burger called the "PRIME RIB & CHEDDAR ANGUS THICKBURGER." My expectations were probably too high after having to pull over for "fresh" meat to be cooked and spending about $8 for just the burger. High point of the burger is the meat because its juicy and has an after taste of A1 sauce. The "freshly toasted" artisan buns turn soggy quick due to the high amount of saturated fats leaking from the burger meat. The added processed cheese and sautéed onions don't help with the burger being soggy. What the burger needs is a piece of lettuce wrapped around the meat. The idea is that the lettuce will prevent the bun from getting soggy by encasing the meat and the sat fats. Worst Carl's Jr ever! I eat at Carl's all the time. I like their food and have eaten at franchises from San Diego to Redding. This one stinks! Here is my experience from the last time I was there. The mumbling ghetto-mouthed girl at the counter rang me up, then mumbled something as I went to pay. I barley heard her speaking, then noticed I was charged an extra dollar for using my debit card. I asked her about it and she said that's what she was explaining. Debit charges are an extra dollar. I went to get a root beer and it didn't work. I went to get a strawberry Fanta instead and that didn't work either. I asked another girl about the root beer she she said it's probably broken. After she stared blankly at me for a while. I said "Well, could you fix it?" She said she would. A half hour later it was still broken. She hadn't even bothered. Thanks for the great customer service. The WiFi wasn't working so I asked about that as well. Ghetto mouth girl said their manager has been trying to fix it for months. Months? Hello, change computer companies you idiot. I asked her to reset the WiFi. She said she doesn't know how. Apparently it takes years of training and genius level IQ to turn a computer off, then back on again. When I got my burger it was cold. At first I thought it was just the patty. Then I checked and realized the patty was cold, the bacon was cold and the bun was cold. It's like they put the lunch leftovers in the fridge and save them for the dinner crowd. At least microwave it for 30 seconds please. Not sure what is going on at this location. Earlier this week during lunch I went through the drive through and ordered a famous star no onion. Instead I received a Carl's Classic. I just left the drive thru tonight, Friday at 9:00pm. Ordered a famous star with cheese no onion. I repeated it twice with cheese to a disinterested order taker. When I pulled up to the window I asked what appeared to be the manager again... does this have cheese. She said yes and of course I get home and it doesn't. Service is usually very cordial and I've never had an employee not be pleasant. My only complaint is that they're stingy with their condiments. I love Carl's Jr. and that they offer a great low carb lettuce wrap instead of a bun. However this Carl's Jr is beyond bad. I keep giving them a chance over and over even though my husband vowed to not eat at this location after his last meal had a couple hairs in it and my jalapeno turkey burger had a HUGE hard stem from a jalapeno in the burger. I decided tonight to give them another chance because I kept seeing the new cod sandwich on TV. I ordered the new Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich in a low carb wrap (lettuce). After leaving the drive-thru I opened it immediately to enjoy it as I went through a different drive thru for my husband (since he refuses this location). To my surprise and huge disappointment it was cold! I took a bite but just could not do it. I ended up only having 2 bites and ordering something from Taco Bell while ordering my husbands food. I called the Carl's Jr to let them know the situation because I honestly was that cold. She informed me that the lettuce made it cold because she watched them make it fresh. I literally opened it after rolling up my window from taking it from her hands and know it is not possible if it was freshly made to cool to that cold of a temperature from touching lettuce. In originally from N.C. they have Hardee's which is owned and operated by the folks at Carl Jr's. The menu is practically the same but a Slight variations. The food was good for fast food , service was standard ,resturaunt was clean . My only complaint was the soda machine want working right. Too much carbonation to syrup ratio was off . Hate when that happens. But overall this location is good. Will return. Jus hope the Coke machine is working up to par. read more
