This is an American thing and I am surprised that it is still around. There are so many choices on the menu that it is very overwhelming. The shakes have a variety as well. It took me a good 20 minutes to decide. These aren't gourmet burgers, they're fast food burgers. They taste kind of like Wendy's Burgers. Price margin is at par. Customer service was decent. For fast food burgers these are actually good. I just wish that their hours of operation were a little more user friendly for the late night. read more

When I heard that Carl's Jr was coming to Vancouver I was really excited and couldn't wait. I had it in SoCal years back and remembered it to be great, especially the angus burgers and the Mexican chain it was linked together with. However after having a guac bacon angus at this location, I found it to be dry, overcooked, thin patty and overpriced. I'll try it again sometime but I was disappointed. I would say In-N-Out is tops for fast food burgers followed by Five Guys and Vera's. Red Robin is still the best in the gourmet category. read more

If you combined all the bad things about McDonald's, A&W and Harvey's, you would get Carl's Jr. The burgers were horrendous; drenched entirely in grease and the beef is questionable at best. The fries were cold and soggy, and the cookies were stale. I almost broke a nail trying to break it apart. The onion rings were good so this one star goes out to that. read more

This was my first time I visited one of the chain's restaurants. Despite it being middle of the lunch hour the place was not packed, only two people in line in front of me. The cashier was efficient though not very courteous. I ordered the Classic 1/3 pound Thick Burger (which similar to McDonalds' 1/3 pounder is also made of Angus beef), small fries and a small drink. I got a plastic number tag to place on my table. The washroom was not very dirty or stinky but it could have used a flush and a scrub. My food arrived at my table after less than 5 minutes (it's nice that you don't have to wait by the cashier for your name or number to be called), but without my drink, so I had to go and get a cup from the cashier. The tray was clean but it had a bump which made it wobbly. It was also a bit too small. The hamburger was in a paper wrapper inside a thick paper box. The order of fries was of decent size even though it's called 'small'. Each table has a napkin dispenser which is convenient. The burger was good size, fresh veggies and just a little bit too much sauce. The patty was not too greasy although it could use a small boost of extra flavour or maybe some pickle slices. The fries were nice, crispy outside and moist inside, and not too salty. All in all satisfying meal. The place looks like a typical fast food restaurant but it has a special plaque to commemorate its founder. I did not see tables with dirty trays on them left uncleared. There is a long bar-like table at the street level floor plus tables for 2 and 4 people. At the other floor there is another long table, tables for 2 people and 4 booth tables. The front door is a bit heavy and difficult to open, and to get to the cashier you have to climb about 6-7 stairs. This location might not be accessible to handicapped people. read more

Great burger ( for fast food ) but its not cheap , they want to charge an extra 3.50 for fries and a drink so your average bill is over 10 bucks per person ...I'd rather just spend the five extra dollars and hit up a sit down. read more

Fast food and upscale. I NEVER thought I could ever put these two terms together. In terms of atmosphere. They really fancied their establishment with new modern furnishings, granite 'looking' wall tiling, chic bar stools, and washrooms. And only selling slightly better than Burger King flame-broiled menu burgers. Their cheapest burger is probably BK's best burger (the King?). I don't know what that says in terms of fast food chain hierarchy, but it definitely doesn't reach any gourmet burger joints like Veras' or other gourmet joints. Food experience - My regular burger toppings somewhat came apart on me. Lots of large sized toppings that don't seem to fit properly. Maybe next time I should be less swayed by fancy decor and snazzy advertising posters. read more

I WAITED OVER AN HOUR FOR MY FOOD TO ARRIVE AND IT WASNT EVEN THAT GOOD. absolutely the WORST service i have ever experienced dont come to this location. not only was the service atrocious but they messed up my smoothie order. i ordered a freckled lemonade smoothie and after OVER AN HOUR i get a STRAWBERRY tasting smoothie. Wednesday afternoon, around 8 o'clock. We had a Western and a Charbroiled bbq chicken with their new Bacon ranch fries. Service was great though it could have been faster. They served us our food which is the first time we experienced that in a fast food place. Very clean, including the restrooms. Definitely worth a visit again! read more

The burgers are good but are on the expensive side. The milkshakes are pretty good too. It is just OK, there are better options out there.

What can i say? This my new favourite fast food burger joint. My entire family liked the food on both visits. We ate during slow periods and we were among a small handfull of customers in the place. (on both occasions) -So the food was given full attention by the staff in the back. After ordering, it takes about ten minutes to get our food delivered to our table. ( a service not found in most fast food chains) I found that my thick burger was comparable to any homemade burger downtown. Everything on the burger was fresh, the lettuce/tomato etc. The fries were of the shoestring variety, and looked like they were fresh cut, with the skin on. I drowned them in a good amount of salt n vinegar, so honestly, i cannot really be certain of how fresh they are...but i liked em! The staff was friendly enough and the place was clean. So recently we decided to give "Carl's Jr." another try, so I guess the question of will I go back has been answered with a yes. This time around we wanted to try the beef burgers that are advertised as being made with better cuts of meat. With first bite they were comparable to the beef patties at Harvey's. I got the Memphis BBQ burger. Along with my all beef patty, in it had deep fried onions, cheddar cheese, pulled pork, and a sweet BBQ sauce, all on your standard bun. Towards the end the taste got boring and I regretting taking my last two bites. Maybe it was the realization that this meal was not good for me. My guest got a regular charboiled beef burger with cheese, ketchup, and mayo. They made it with way too much Ketchup and mayo, he ended up dissecting the burger in order to scrape the excess off. Both our burgers got soggy fast so you had to eat bite after bite nonstop, in order to maintain a dry bun. And after each bite you needed a new napkin to mop up the mess on your face, good thing they thought of that and put a napkin dispenser at each table. I do think their beef burger are better than any other fast food burger place. However for the price you can go to "Red Robins" and enjoy a cleaner eating area and fill up on bottomless drinks and fries. All this while enjoying a unique burger experience with a great patty. But I still plan to go back to "Carl's Jr.", had I been more hungry I would have liked to try the "thick burger" patty in my bun. read more

I can't believe how good this place is! The service is like a fine dining experience, they bring you your food, complimentary water, even free dipping sauces! Went for lunch to try it out. Asked for the cheeseburger combo and the woman asked "Will that be medium or large?" As it seemed those were my only choices, I said "medium", thinking to myself, "what happened to small?" I don't know what made it "medium" as the only thing that seemed too big was the cup for the drink. The burger itself was not very good. Meat was tasteless and there was a HUGE chunk of lettuce that overpowered everything else. And while I was eating I overheard the other cashier asking other customers if they wanted their combos "SMALL, medium or large". Hmm, so why did my cashier leave out the SMALL?? Also, I left a comment card with my contact details and got no response whatsoever, and my experience there was about 4 weeks ago. Not impressed. read more

Disappointed in my first meal at Carl's Jr in Vancouver. After having frequented this chain in the US, I had high hopes for their first Vancouver restaurant, but came away underwhelmed. While the prices here are generally steep considering it is a fast food burger joint, the quality of the food and service make up for it. For about $12, you get a quality burger, a drink, and a side that will fill the mightiest hunger. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is very clean, and they're open until pretty late. read more

Great Food, horrible service. I've been twice on a Sat am. Both times, it was a painful experience on the service side. I'm not talking slow, I fully understand it takes time to prep the orders, I'm talking irrational. Coffee not ready, coffee not made properly, staff not understanding English, missed items in a Togo order, etc... As a man of business it's actually frustrating watching them operate when you can tell there is no system in place, no opening procedure, etc. The management needs to get it together so that when the business opens in the am, it's ready to go. If I were involved in Carl's Jr management, I'd be all over this franchisee.... read more
