The incredibly sweet woman behind the counter who helped us with a dessert order for a family dinner for twelve, the sheer beauty and variety of the baked goods in her store, or the 20 amazing cookies we ended up buying. The Carlsbad Bakery has been around for 40+ years specializing in Danish and French pastries, quiche, cupcakes, cakes, and too many eye-popping things to list. We walked over on a Friday and after talking to the proprietor decided that a variety of cookies would be the way to go. What wasn't easy was deciding what type of cookie, because their big chocolate chip, pistachio, almond, cherry, and peanut butter cookies all looked beyond amazing. We decided on a box of 20 mixed cookies ($52.90) and returned the next day to pick them up. My Sweet Lord, the box was as heavy as a bowling ball and was warm with freshly baked cookies. The intoxicating aroma penetrated the carton and filled our hotel room. When they were served at dinner, people's eyes popped out of their heads because they were so gorgeous. I managed to restrain myself and limited my dessert to one pistachio cookie that was fantastic. Of course, all of my cousins wanted to know where we found these amazing cookies. Awesome little bakery located amidst an unsuspecting strip mall in carlsbad village. I go here quite often and pretty much always get the artichoke quiche, it's delicious! I love their pastries. We visited Carlsbad for avoid fireworks around July 4th. The place only does fireworks around there is Legoland so we had nice and quiet holiday with our two dogs. We walked to this bakery and got some pastries for breakfast. The lady at store was very nice and I enjoyed their breads. We will be back to Carlsbad and I will definitely come back here. read more

UPDATE on my review: I wrote the below review and the owner Pierre, wrote to make things right. I guess there are two sizes and by mistake, I was charged for the large slice. Wow, what a truly good businessman. He insisted on refunding me since they were out of more rainbow cakes for today. I wanted more to take home to Phoenix but next time. It is an amazing bakery. So delicious! Thank you Pierre!!! I swear I've left a review before and can't find it. I gave it a 5 star rating in the past even the last time I was here 4 months ago. Unfortunately, I give it 4 stars. Why? Same amazing flavors. Very friendly engaging staff. Same fantastic rainbow cake,,,,but,,,,HALF the size for same price! Of course I still got two slices but disappointed about the size. Will I be back next visit? Likely. It's an addiction I have with that almond flavored rainbow cake. Okay Carlsbad Danish Bakery is a small little place in the Arcade in Carlsbad Village. It's right there but in a corner you wouldn't notice it. The service is very European. I've had many of the items. The cupcakes admittedly are huge but not my favorite. Everything else is perfection. I have even ordered a custom cake (as a congrats/prank) here with a photo and writing and it came out cute. They let me pick fillings and colors. There is a cute little patio. I've been wanting to try this bakery for awhile. Finally stopped in around 10am on a Saturday morning. Everything looked delicious and beautiful, so it was difficult to decide on what to get. We ended up with an Almond Croissant (huge, the taste was unbelievable, and one of the best I've ever had). I can't wait to try them other croissants. Chocolate dipped coconut Macaroon - We got this because my boyfriend loves them: I'm not even a huge fan of coconut and I loved this. So much so that I would get it again. Chef Pierre is an absolute angel. He made my little guy's birthday dream of a Minecraft TNT cake come true! Let me tell you about this cake. The inside was a moist chocolate delicious dream and the vanilla buttercream inside was absolutely scrumptious. I was a little nervous getting a fondant cake for the first time, as we usually order buttercream but knew it was the better choice so thank you Chef for telling me the options and walking me through the choices. I give Carlsbad Danish Bakery 5-Stars for their customer service and the 2, 1/2-sheet cakes they made for Carlsbad High's end-of-season marching band celebration. FIRST CAKE: Chocolate cake with Bavarian creme filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. SECOND CAKE: Vanilla cake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Both were wonderfully moist and tasty! The filling really makes these cakes. Both were devoured - quick! I emailed the bakery 2 images for them to print and place on top of each. Since moving to North County, this has been my go to place for my birthday cake. Every year, I get a Swedish Princess cake for my birthday, and Carlsbad Danish has it down to perfection. This year, they weren't available for pick up on Dec 31st, but I picked up on the 30th and it still kept well. There's something about the classiness of the presentation, the combination of whipped cream, pound cake and the raspberry that does it for me. Although I've never really been a fan of the marzipan since it's usually too sweet for my taste, the rest of the cake is simply delicious.
