Poor scheduling and communication, although the service tech was very nice. We scheduled for an 8a-12p window and I stayed home from work to wait for it. Tried to call at 12pm to find out where they were and it went to voicemail. At 2pm the tech finally arrived and explained the understandable delay. However, I said that someone should be contacting me to tell me they are running late and allowing me to understand, rather than sit and wonder if and when they will show. We rescheduled the appointment for a few days later and was promised we would be the first customer of the day, with a tech arriving between 8a-9a. I stayed home again for this and at 9:15am called and spoke to someone who said he was running late and is on his way. Once again I expressed that delays happen but the lack of communication is not acceptable when others have professional things to do as well. I wasn't met with an apology, just a "he says he's on his way" sort of response. I feel this is inconsiderate business practice to state a customer service time window and not only fail to arrive during that window of time, but to also not communicate when you are failing at something you have promised to deliver. Terrible company. Has lied to our face and never did their job. Going on 3 weeks with no AC. 6 pm on a Friday was approaching and the guy ironically couldn't do anything more at 5:55. Left all the vents open, didn't put a single thing back. never put in an order. read more

Could not be happier with Carlton Heating + Air. We highly recommend them for your HVAC maintenance. We had a service agreement with another HVAC company for 6+ years. They installed our new HVAC system. They serviced it, per our yearly service agreement, at the beginning of July 2024 and packed up their tools, saying our freon was a little low. We had to talk them into looking for a leak. Found a leak in the coil. Fast forward 3 weeks and no word about coming to replace it. We called Abby at Carlton and Adam showed up within a couple days to check out our system. He could have come sooner, but we were unavailable. He found that our freon was down 40%+. They ordered the coil and came in a couple days later to fix our system. They also found a switch that was going bad on the outside unit and soldered a couple solder joints and were still able to beat the other company's quote for just the coil replacement. We felt their services were a great value. We now have a service agreement with Carlton Heating + Air. read more

I'm generally a pretty patient person and I put careful consideration into reviews before they're written, especially negative ones and I certainly don't write them on a whim. My issues with Carlton Heating & Air started back in early May when our AC went out and our home warranty assigned us to Carlton Heating & Air. Visit #1: I took the day off work. A technician came and he stated that the coils were likely leaking, but he was going to put Freon into the leaking system and I would probably need to call back in 3 months to have it refilled (which means I'd be without AC again in August). According to the technician, my home warranty would only allow him to put Freon into the leaking system, but not fix the system itself. This didn't exactly sit well with me since I have the highest level of home warranty that is in place to cover replacement/repair of the system, not temporarily fill it with leaking Freon. I called the home warranty company to double check and they informed me that a diagnostic was never submitted to them and if it had been, my coverage would have included any needed repairs. The home warranty put through another service order with Carlton Heating & Air. Visit #2: I took another day off work. This time, a diagnostic was run (leaking coils) and magically, my home warranty covered the replacement of the coils once the diagnostic was submitted. The coils had to be ordered and replaced at a later time. Visit #3: I took a third day off work. Two technicians came and replaced the coils in our attic unit. They decided they would leave the old coils in the attic and come back to get them at a later date so they wouldn't have to carry them over the carpet on the 2nd floor. At the time, I appreciated their consideration for keeping my carpet clean. As soon as they left, the outdoor unit started making a horrible screeching noise that could be heard from down the street. We happened to have a monster storm that night. The next day, I went up to the attic to find that they'd left an attic window wide open and the rain poured in, drenching the subfloor. Also, the attic unit itself was leaking water into the drain pan. I called back to have them come check the outdoor unit, fix the leak in the indoor unit, and to remove those old coils that had been left in the attic. Visit #4 (missed): I took a 4th day off work. The service order was for 9am - 12:00pm. I called at 12:45pm when they hadn't arrived and I was told they were at another service call and they would call when they were on their way. I never received another call from them and they never showed. I thought maybe they'd follow up the next day, but they never did follow up. I had our home warranty switch companies and a technician promptly came from another company (I'd taken 5 days off work at this point). The technician from the other company was able to fix the outdoor unit, stating the Freon pressure was off and causing the unit to screech. He also quickly fixed the leak in the indoor attic unit. However, he was unable to take those old coils out of the attic because his company would be charged a fee for disposing of them. Visit #5 (missed): I called Carlton Heating & Air to come pick up the old coils that they'd left in the attic. When I was asked to make yet another appointment, instead of taking a 6th day off work with little faith that they'd actually show up for an appointment after their last missed appointment, I opted to instead carry the old coils down two flights of stairs and down a set of deck steps outside by myself so they could pick it up from the backyard and I wouldn't need to be there for it. Mind you, I'm 5'0 and 110lbs. The lady over the phone stated she'd make a note that it would be in the backyard and they would set an appointment for Tuesday (6/19) to pick it up. Today is Thursday (6/21) and the old coils are still sitting in my backyard. I'll figure out a way to dispose of the old coils myself. I feel as though I should be paid at this point for missed days off work and disposing of the old coils. read more

Not a good experience! Purchased a new system and the maintenance package. A/C did not work last summer and it has stopped working this season too! Called the owner and he said his director of operations would take care of me. He didn't show up and the next day told me "he didn't do after hours work! I had John Carlton come out to give me a quote on hanging up my AC system, or moving it over a few feet in my attic onto a platform I was building. My appointment was supposed to be between 8am and noon. No show, no courtesy call. I called twice in the afternoon to ask when he was arriving. He showed up at 5pm. Apparently I had got a quote from them for installing a new System the year prior, and he was a bit bitter over the fact that I didn't use them. John Carlton complained that I didn't use them, quoted me $3600 to move the thing over. I said "but, that's how much the whole system cost.." He said "why don't you get the people you bought it from to move it. Give those boys a call." And then he left, and I said goodbye. I stood there in utter disbelief. What I SHOULD have said in my most sarcastic tone was "Well gee, can't believe I didn't use you.. when you have such reasonable pricing and you act so nice and professional." Just purchased a new gas pack from Carlton Heating and Cooling. I did have to wait a couple days for them to come check on the unit that stopped giving off heat. It was still chilly, but we survived. Once they checked on the 27 year old unit they determined right away that it was not worth fixing. I totally get that. We were kind of waiting for it to "die". I did not have to wait long for them to install a brand new unit. We had a slight hiccup getting the installation done correctly, but once Felix came out, the unit installation is absolutely perfect. It looks so good. It is a Goodman. Felix promised to make it perfect and he DID!!! Thank you to Crews for keeping everything moving along behind the scenes too. And Misty had so many calls from me and always answered the phone so sweetly and helped me with anything I needed. We have purchased a warranty package from them for year 2 so we shall see how that all goes for the next 2 years. I am confident they will be here to expertly care for this new unit. I know there are a lot of places to call for service. I feel good about our choice for this new unit. I will update this review if anything changes. read more

I did however walk past their van recently while they were on a job site and WOW I could not believe the pot smell coming from the van. They are very easy to work with and very prompt in coming out to fix our heating or air conditioning problems. As a mechanically challenged individual, I feel they could easily take advantage of me recommending a new unit, but have been able to perform quick fixes for a lot less money. We had an appointment for them to come out between 1 and 3. At 3:20, I called to find out what time they would arrive. The person told me that they were not going to bother coming out today and he did not have time for us. I have never had a company just not show up for an appointment and not tell the customer.
