This was a decent place to sleep. Was here for a big conference and roomed with a friend. Conference hotels were way too expensive. This was affordable. It wasn't too noisy (I live in Boston so I'm used to noise). Beds were decently comfortable. The shampoo/ conditioner/ body wash / soap dispensers weren't filled before our stay so that was annoying. We didn't get to enjoy the Bfast since our meetings were so early at McCormick place. It was very easy to get Ubers. Call the hotel when you arrive - they don't have a shuttle that goes around and around. It's a van. Drivers are super nice. If you are driving , the lot is very narrow so beware. Convenient but not cozy. You save a lot by staying here. If I flew through midway I Wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

My family and I were traveling out of Midway and were looking for a place to park at or near the airport. We found Carlton Inn and saved $50 in not taking a Lyft round trip. You make the reservation, self-park, and their shuttle takes you to the airport. The parking lot is outside and it's rather tight, but for our weekend trip it was fine. On our way home we called and were picked up in 10 minutes! Very convenient. It's good to know that you can also stay here if needed as well. I'm glad we found this place. read more

Stayed here at the last minute. It appeared to be a motel that people live in as the lot was completely full no matter what time of day it was. We had to park in a business lot next door. The room was not clean but I could deal with that as long as I didn't see living things in the room which I didn't. The reason I give it one star is because shortly after leaving and driving a few hours toward home I realized that I had left a pajama shirt there. I called right away knowing that they probably hadn't even been to the room yet. I left my name number and kept calling everyday for a week just to keep getting brushed off like it's nothing. I know it was still there when I called. So frustrating that you can't check or get it out of the room. I would have paid the shipping to mail it back to me. Just wanted my shirt. And IF this business reads this and calls me about my solid black long sleeve pajama shirt then I will remove that from my post. read more

Back in town and found same ol' same ol', only worse. The manager, Abdul, had Cat lady, Miss Lynn, moved from unit #125 to unit #104 after city inspectors began looking for her. She still has her dozen or so cats with her that continue to tear up walls while she continues to smoke like a chimney. Miss "congeniality", the snotty Latina girl is back working the front desk working her little magic. She continues to abandon the desk, overcharges for a night stay when she is there, gives everybody dirty looks and now keeps her big dogs at the front desk with her! The issue is, while they are not aggressive, they do shed hair and the eating area is wide open right next to her desk where breakfast is openly served every day. Cat lady who is typically covered with cat hair, also hangs around this breakfast area most likely further contaminating the food! I of course, avoid the food especially when I was told that because of improper food handling, there were guests sickened due to spoiled milk and undercooked eggs and sausage links. Also, for you lonely out of towners, management offers "special" companionship services for a fee! They're easy to find, they frolic around the breakfast table half naked! Doesn't the Department of Health ever stop by? They seem to harass all other local food businesses, why not this one? Time to find a new motel! read more

The staff is very friendly. The airport shuttle runs 24/7 at Midway which worked out great for us. The parking lot is small and a tight squeeze & open(not locked) but it's manageable. They are working on updating the rooms. We would stay here again. read more

I give them ZERO stars! First of all, I should have known something was off when I was told the shuttle to the airport was broken and they were sending a driver. I requested a non smoking room and the room reeked of cigarettes and there was a cigarette burn in the blanket. The linens looked dirty, the carpet in the room was soaking wet and the bathroom was disgusting. I requested a different room and it was no better. The bathroom was completely flooded. The office person was no help when I told him I was canceling my reservation and was not going to allow me to call another hotel from their lobby ( it was snowing outside) I did anyway and found a much better room at a different location. Worst part is this hotel is sponsored by Expedia and I was refused a refund since I had prepaid online, even though I paid the cancellation insurance. Please do not give this hotel your business. We booked this hotel for the weekend of September 27th for our anniversary trip to Chicago. We went with an affordable option close to public transportation thinking that we only needed a safe, clean place to sleep at night. Unfortunately that is not what we got. We were a little put off by the outside appearance of the hotel, but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt, because again safe, clean place to sleep. However, we walked into the room and it was anything but. The blinds were broken in a place that made privacy difficult, AC cover was broken, there was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, the shower floor was dirty, and the sink faucet was not properly secured. But the two most concerning issues was that the smoke detector in the room had been removed and there were just wires hanging out from the wall and the wiring in the bathroom was faulty and the light would just randomly turn off and back on. The room felt very unsafe. So we quickly changed our clothes, so we could make our evening plans, and then checked out. Now we can't get a refund - we did book through hotels.com and they said they would reach out to the management at the hotel to initiate a refund and we found out today, over a week later, that they not only didn't approve our refund, they never even replied to hotels.com request. This place was amazing! After my husband and I missed our flight. We needed a nice, comfortable place to stay. We were exhausted, didn't have our luggage, nothing but the clothes on our backs. Our next flight was 24 hours later! So finding this place was a relief. It's 9 minutes away from the airport. As soon as we arrived, they were very helpful. We stayed the night and instead of charging us for a whole other night, they worked with us and simply charged us for a later checkout time. Check out is at 11AM and we paid extra to stay until 6PM. It was such a relief to not have to pay for another night! Loved the room, the service, and overall the convenience! It brought peace to our hectic situation. In addition, they provide breakfast, free coffee and water all day, there's a vending machine for drinks and snacks. *PLUS* They set up a shuttle to the airport for us so we won't have to deal/struggle to get there. Last but not least, after expressing that we do not have our luggage - they kindly offered to give us a toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant. I don't know about you, but when we literally have nothing, getting these hygiene items was a big deal. I can honestly say, they did all they could to make our stay comfortable. Dean (shuttle driver) is most definitely one of the kindest people we have encountered on our travels. He was very friendly, upbeat, and he genuinely wanted to help. My first shout out goes to him! The next is EVERYONE else that works for Carlton Inn. In all my travels, and all my reviews, Carlton Inn Midway has given me the VERY BEST customer service. The staff is always and constantly willing to give the best customer experience, often going way above the call of duty and even going out of their way to help. It is mind boggling how helpful everyone is especially since the nightly rate was quite cheap. We had a small room, on a weekend, for only $103 a night (pre tax). The area is the first stop from the orange line from the airport. However, you can request for a shuttle pickup from the airport, and it was fast! You can also request for their shuttle to drop you off or pick you up from the orange line, which is an easy two blocks walk away. The hotel is about 30-45 minutes away from downtown/loop. However, you will not even feel that it is that long since there are so many sights to see along the way, and it truly goes by pretty fast. The area is fairly safe - it is right across a middle or high school and just a regular town. Nothing too vegas-like, but just a regular old town. Free breakfast - orange juice, coffee, donuts, bagel, fruits, and white castle biscuits that comes in sausage and egg with cheese, egg and cheese, and egg with cheese and bacon. Nothing too fancy, but I totally dig it. They have a small inside area to sit, but they have a much bigger space outside ... this may be very useful during the warmer months. The entire complex has two floors. This is also the first time that I ever had a non-smoking room that actually smells nice and definitely smelled non smoking. It smelled clean and not one of those rooms that has clearly been drowned with Lysol and air fresheners. The bathroom was also clean that came with a shampoo and body wash dispenser. Small room came with a mini-fridge, microwave, hair dryer, coffee maker, flat screen tv with HBO and Star channels, iron/ironing board. Bed and pillows were comfy, and I was actually comfortable using their sheets and towels. Carpet was also clean. read more

I stayed here to park and fly out of Midway Airport. When we returned we called to get a fuse back to our car. No one answered the number we were given. We tried all three numbers for nearly one hour still no response. We finally contacted an Uber and got a ride back to our car. The woman at the desk of the Carlton Inn could not have been less helpful. When I asked to be reimbursed for my Uber she said I would have to talk to the owner who was gone. She would not give me the owner's number. She said she would take my information and he would call me. Two weeks later still no call. This place has no customer service and no follow through. I called back and the owner is not in and they said he would call me back. We shall see. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. it was such an embarrassing situation. My family flew in from Puerto Rico and in wanting them to stay close to my house, we booked 3 rooms at the Carlton Inn Midway. What a HUGE mistake. This place is horrible. The rooms were filthy, the bathrooms were not stacked, no towels, no toilet paper, no soap, no shampoo, no NOTHING at $127.00 per night for 3 nights that we booked. When we asked the front desk for some shampoo, they poured some soap into a plastic cup, that looked more like dish soap. The tubs were clogged, the showers in 2 of the 3 rooms were not working, only the tub faucet worked. Least to say that I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, and for a reasonable price! It's not wildly out of the city proper, it was clean and safe, and they offered economically friendly items and a continental breakfast. I stayed here during the beginning of Lollapalooza and was not bothered by the crowd of the city. I had a rental car that I felt safe parking in the hotel lot (it's a compact lot, but seemingly plenty of spaces), and the hotel is near a Target and other corporate stores and fast food joints if needed. The hotel room was clean and offered the most unique execution of amenities I've seen in a room, but it was cool and economically friendly. Even though pets are allowed to stay, I wasn't bothered by any barking nor did the smell of previous pets' stay linger in my room. The lobby service was friendly and knowledgeable, and the free breakfast served daily was good and offered variety. I'd stay here again and recommend this place in a heartbeat. read more

I am giving this hotel a 2 out of 5 star review due to multiple things. When we arrived early (about a hour) we were told our room wasn't ready so he was going to go check, he was gone for over 15 minutes so we decided to leave and go grab a bite to eat. When we came back our room was ready. Our room was located in this sketchy alley that had old carpeting in it. The room itself was updated with newer flooring and a newer bathroom, however the floor was disgusting, we had to wear shoes the entire time in our room, as we had extremely dirty feet after walking around for 5 minutes. The parking lot was also extremely tight, and not very many spots for how many rooms there are. Overall for $130 I didn't expect much, and it was what we paid for. The free breakfast was sparse, the pictures show a pancake maker; there was no pancake maker. There was some hash browns and sausage and then cereal and bagels. Very limited. If you're just looking to rest your head, and save some money then I'd book here but I personally would not stay again even to save a few dollars. read more

The room we got was surprisingly spacious with a small dining table, an armoire, and a couch. Laminate floors too! I always appreciate laminate "wood" floors because they seem cleaner and more airy. The bathroom was tiny with only a small shelf to sub in for counter space, but it was definitely functional enough for our one night stay. Beds were okay. Not the most comfortable, but again-- adequate for a short stay. Breakfast was a standard buffet with eggs, sausage, pancakes, and an assortment of bagels, donuts and other bread-based fare. There's a free shuttle that will take you to the train. Although we didn't utilize this, it's good to know it's available. It was my first time in Chicago and traveling via train & miscalculations brought us to this hidden find tucked away by the Midway Airport. Although close to the airport, one barely notices the planes flying overhead. Catch the Orange line into downtown and no ubers needed. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant! They provided walking directions to famous spots to see in the city and kept our luggage all day while we explored the city. Breakfast is a plus, pancakes, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, juice, yogurt, coffee and pluthera of baked goods. The only complaint and why I didn't give them a 5 star rating is due to the water pressure in the bathroom and the toilet would run, off and on. They responded very prompted when brought to their attention, which is appreciated. I called Carlton Inn (Midway) to make a 4 night reservation. After looking at the information from the website, the Inn was close to my relatives which made it easy for everyone. It is also close to the Trains. We checked in late night and was given room 204, upstairs next to the office. The room was ok. The price is cheap, please don't expect a high end place. The AC worked great, the beds were comfortable. The bathtub had some wear and tear and the sink had some patched cracks. They only gave us 2 sets of towels, so I had to call and get more. Most of the bath towels were worn out and thin. Didn't use their shampoo or soap (dispenser), was glad I brought my own. The negative is that the room and the carpet were damp. So damp, you couldn't wear your socks in the room. I had to get extra towels so that I can lay it on the floor. Another issue that I didn't know about is that they only clean the room once (check in). The washer and dryer was broken too. For me it was about location and cost. The staff were friendly which was nice. read more

For me it brought back bad memories of visiting my dad's smoky, dirty, gross apartments when he lived alone. The shuttle service was excellent. We didn't try or even go to see the breakfast. Oh! The room had windows that opened, and wide! Two of them. That was nice too since the a/c smelled so bad and was really dirty and had mold all over it. The room wreaked of smoke, large black hairs in the blankets, broken soap dispensers in the shower and sink- no bars of soap. As we were leaving the inside handle broke off. We booked this hotel on accident, it was almost an hour away - we made a mistake. We got off the plane today at 5am to book a hotel nearby, but for some reason we clicked the wrong one and booked. We then called many people in regards to mistakenly booking this hotel, and to cancel and refund within the first minute of booking, however people kept telling us they are strict, even when we could never make it that far. They denied our cancelation. This is extreme greed and carelessness for people. They stole our money. Stay away from this hotel, we got robbed from them the first 5 minutes of our trip unfortunately. I would certainly stay at the Carlton Inn Midway again. They have 24 hour shuttle service from Midway and the hotel is only a five minute walk from the Pulaski L Train Station (orange line). The check-in staff were helpful, accommodating and genuinely friendly. They have on-site parking--along with additional spaces next door. The room was clean and quiet. The TV was easy to operate and they had more channels than one could possibly watch. There were plenty of outlets for charging phones, computers, etc--including two outlets next to the bed. The room included a coffee maker, microwave and small refrigerator. They offer a complimentary breakfast until 9 am on weekdays and 10 am on weekends. There is a grocery store about a five minute walk away and there are also many restaurants in the area--including some that stay open late. read more

I arrived at Midway airport, late at night with two young children. The free shuttle was waiting for us outside, as it runs 24 hours a day. Very nice! The room was surprisingly large, and very clean. Front desk staff , "Connie" was very much on top of things, considering it was late at night. She runs a tight ship, and it shows. :) They had a security guard nearby, since things can be a bit scary near Midway airport in the middle of the night. I felt safe staying there, and we slept well in the comfy beds. Surprisingly, the internet wi-fi was FREE. The breakfast served in the lobby was FREE and there is even a small workout room on the 2nd floor. If you are in the Midway area, you don't have to pay a fortune to stay at one of the hotel chains. The Carlton Inn is a great alternative, and we'd stay there again for sure. Excellent value for the money. Definitely not a luxury place, but this was perfect for a cheap weekend trip with my boyfriend. Got a deal through Expedia to make it even better! The local train is just a couple blocks away and it takes just about 15-20 minutes to get downtown. Super easy for newbies to Chicago like us. The room was small but clean, great for just a place to rest our feet at night. Bathrooms are tiny but not a big deal. Breakfast was decent and the front desk is holding our bags since checkout was several hours before our flight-- free shuttle to train and Midway, by the way! Best part was the upfront customer service as soon as we checked in. Stephen was great and gave us tons of resources/foolproof directions for sightseeing in the city! Great place to stay!!! In Archer Heights towards the south side, it was a great room (a smoking room once again and it didn't smell). The bed was super comfortable, and the A/C was just fine, and shower water in the morning was SUPER HOT!!! the entertainment center had a HDTV on top, a single cup coffee maker, and a refrigerator below, with an open area to hang clothes as well as keep the iron and ironing board. Did I stay in the same hotel as the other reviewers???? 1. they charged about 150 for a single room because a huge trade show was in town. 2. I stayed in a back room that was blocked from the parking lot and from common view. Very dark and suspicious, it needs to be redesigned as a woman I don't think that's safe. 3. My room did not look like the pic that's posted. It was very dim and had a mildewy smell. There was the presence of water in my room because the night stand light was rusted. 4. Instead of travel sized complimentary soaps or shampoos, they have dispensers mounted on the walls. I have never seen that before. read more

This hotel is a very convenient place to stay if flying out of Midway. It is clean and appointed enough for a night. There is nothing fancy about this place but what it lacks in amenities it makes up for in customer care and convenience. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They explained how to take the El train downtown, the station is very close to the hotel, and gave us a map of the train lines. The shuttle drivers are available quickly and are efficient. We left our car with the hotel and they moved it to a private lot. When we returned from our trip,we called the hotel, the shuttle was there in 10 mins and took us back to the hotel where the car was started, heat on (cold evening) with 2 cold bottled waters were waiting for us. Really excellent service, affordable, clean rooms, delicious Dunkin' Donuts breakfast, and within a safe walking distance to the Orange Line - about a 25 minute ride to downtown. The 62 bus also stops within a few feet of the hotel. The most commendable part is the service - we had a problem with our room, and everyone was very accommodating, understanding, and took care of the issue immediately and gave us a reduced rate for the inconvenience. We also learned that they have a pest inspector come every other week to check for bed bugs (since that's a huge problem in Chicago) and they have many systems in place for preventing the spread of bed bugs. A very excellent place to stay, and I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Chicago! read more

Wow! What can I say? Thank you Yelpers for the reviews of this place! What a gem! The price is right and the location is a block and a half away from the Orange Line to downtown and minutes from Midway airport. There is a free shuttle that will take you to and from the airport (Midway), restaurants, the Orange Line, the store...basically anywhere within a few miles. We never had to wait more than a couple minutes for a ride and when we told them in advance what time we were going somewhere, they were ready and waiting. The shuttle runs 24 hours/day. Upon check in, I verified the shuttle would take us to the Orange Line as my aunt does not walk well. They said yes, and they mentioned they had us on the second floor of the hotel, but would move us downstairs to accommodate my aunt. AWESOME! They provided us a list with local restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. and highlighted staff favorites. The staff have good taste - we tried a couple of their favorite restaurants! The free breakfast consisted of Dunkin Donut sandwiches, donuts, coffee, fruit, milk, bagels, etc. Free wifi. Plenty of cable channels and movie channels. Rooms were very clean and well kept. Sufficient plugs for devices. Dispensers for toiletries. Microwave. Refrigerator. Plenty of space. We stayed during a cold spell and the heater worked great. All staff we encountered were extremely friendly and accommodating. Will be returning to Chicago and will be staying at Carlton Inn Midway! Felt very safe leaving our vehicle with them as they keep a close eye on their lot (at half the cost of long term parking at Midway)! The Carlton Inn Midway is a fantastic "sleep and park" for Chicago MDW airport. It's not much to look at from the outside, but the positives are many: spotless room, very helpful and friendly staff, basic exercise facility, breakfast that included hot eggs and sausage, and prompt shuttle rides with friendly drivers. When my wife and I returned from a two-week trip, our car was waiting for us in front of the hotel office with two bottles of water and four chocolate chip cookies. Nice touch!...... Just a note to first timers users of Midway, like us, for the return: the "Upper Level Door 2" that the shuttle drivers are required to use is two levels above baggage claim (the exit one level above baggage claim goes to a train stop). read more

We were able to get a comfortable nights sleep and they kept the car for the week. Staff is wonderful and shuttle to airport is great.
