This has been a nightmare of an experience. I paid to have a car transferred and rather than being able to drive it out of the lot the same day - I was late for work and am now stuck dealing with a whole bunch of incompetent people defending each other. This place is a prime example of why car dealerships and car salesmen have such a bad reputation. The bad reviews are right. I didn't want the back and forth of going to a "dealership,"but that's exactly what I got times a hundred. I'm not going to name names - because I'm not about destroying lives, but avoid at all costs. Not worth the trouble. Just pay more for better service. You won't get your car when promised and you'll get lost in the shuffle. The reception and phone staff are the only decent people, everyone else is a condescending or incompetent a-hole! I still haven't gotten my car, it's been sitting in the lot for a week. I get messages daily - "are you still interested?" I was interested a week ago, when I was trying to give you thousands and thousands of dollars, but you didn't know how to take it! Pure chaos! It's a hot mess and literally a hell-scape! Also, these people have no charm! The jokes aren't funny - they're condescending, irritating, and insulting! I now understand why this place has so many mixed reviews. Sold my car to them yesterday, which took the whole day due to long wait times (I expected this, so no big deal). However their customer service is a hit or miss. Majority of the staff here are warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful. And then there's a group of guys who look like they got lost on the way to their frat house. 45 minutes after I sold my car to them, I was still on the lot waiting for my ride home and I realized that I left my garage clickers in the vehicle. So I headed back inside, walked over to the front desk where I apparently interrupted a frat meeting. I explained the situation to one of the young gentleman and he said to me "someone will go check the car". He doesn't inform any other colleagues and walks out of the building. Didn't ask for any kind of paperwork, nothing, just leaves. After about 5 mins I realized that nobody is trying to locate the vehicle. I find another employee, finally someone who cares! He asks for my registration to confirm that I am who I say I am. Took my paperwork to the back lot, searched for the car (which was literally 300ft from the entrance) and brought back my garage clickers. So to the Brads and Chads who seem to forget that you're there to do a job and provide at the very least acceptable customer service, if you guys don't give a fuck about your jobs go do something else. read more

Hello, I wanted to share my first experience with Carmax. I've been in the market for a new vehicle so I decided to check out CarMax since their suppose to be convenient way of purchasing a vehicle online. This past Sunday from 10AM to 12PM I searched CarMax's website for a vehicle and finally found one that I wanted. I then applied for financing on the vehicle and received an email that I was pre-approved and a CarMax representative will contact me soon. The email gave me the option to "hold the vehicle" for 7 days. I decided to hold the vehicle and scheduled a delivery to my home while waiting for a call from CarMax. I then received an email saying my Vehicle delivery was scheduled and a representative would contact me soon. I checked the website for a status on my application and it said they were "evaluating my information and would have options for me ASAP". This was all completed by 1PM on Sunday. I waited patiently from 1PM to 7PM for a phone call from carmax and never received it. I went back to the website to check status and the page refreshed saying that the "vehicle was NO LONGER available & was sold to another buyer"!!! I tried to call CarMax but they literally just closed. I tried contacting online support through messages to be told they would get back to me during normal business hours. So that said, I spent all day Sunday looking for vehicle, applying, reserving and patiently waiting for a response from a CarMax only to completely waste my time & efforts. I then Received a voicemail & email this morning from CarMax representative "Anca Brown" telling me that my qualification options were available and wanted to go over them with me but she never addresses what happened Sunday as if it never happened. I then responded through email to CarMax representative "Anca Brown" and explained the issue I had Sunday only to have her never respond back to me, once again. I followed up in email with Anca Brown & Thank her for not responding back to me because it's likely for the best that I don't move forward with buying from Carmax So in a nutshell, My first experience with CarMax has been terrible. It would of took a easy 2 hours & 4 employees maybe to get a appraisal on my car only for them to do all types of weird s%^* to my car trying it trying to make something out of nothing to offer a lower value of course on my vehicle. I left after a hour after being there when the 4th person said wait another 20-30 minutes for the next person. I can't believe they have 4 people looking at your car at once. There's way more that happened I can say! I purchased my car from Carmax so naturally I thought it would be a good idea to schedule an appointment for a check up and oil change. I booked an appointment 2 weeks in advance at 8am and showed 15 mins early, as they had advised. Waited an hour just for a rep to tell me that it would take another 1hr to 1hr and a half before they see me. They don't schedule weekends so I had to ask for time off. I kindly told her I couldn't wait that long and left. I would think twice before asking for any other service from them aside from getting a vehicle financed. read more

My experience buying the car was good, not great, good. The one star is for the problems after the car was purchased...days after. 100 degrees and no air conditioner working and I called over and over and over. No one could pick up or return any of my many, many messages. They just don't care. Customer service does not exist here. I should've just gone to Honda to buy a car. read more

Long wait time, poor customer service. I felt like I was wrong for even asking why my appointment was taking significantly longer than they explicitly told me it would. They also gave me conflicting information between setting my appointment and arriving which meant that after waiting for over an hour longer than they said, they weren't able to process my vehicle. When Maria did finally show up to apprais my vehicle she did a great job and was the only expedient and friendly staff member I interacted with. Maybe if Maria was in charge of the other bums my experience would not have been so poor. Improve your workflow so people do not wait so long. Its an easy fix for a significant problem. read more

I bought a car in April and have STILL not received my license plates. I called on 10/6 asking what the issue was and was told that I needed to speak to a manager who was gone for the night. I called late, that's fine. She said I would receive a call by 11:00am on 10/7. At 3:00pm I still had not heard anything so I called them back myself. She told me that there is an issue with the PREVIOUS lien holder and now that somehow means I cannot get license plates for a car I purchased. She said "well you have paper plates." I told her those expired in July. She did not care. How do you even sell a car if you don't have the proper paperwork?? I asked her how long until this is resolved. She said "I don't know." So now I am expected to drive around with expired license plates and risk getting a ticket because they can't get it together. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. Will not buy a car here again. read more

I came in today to pick up my car and when I walked it I was greeted by a nice man at the counter. He asked if I had an appointment and I said yes. He quickly checked me and and told me I was next in line. As I went to sit and wait I noticed it was really busy. I waited about 20 minutes before I met the manager Jose. He greeted me and told me that all of the other reps were busy but he would gladly be able to help me. Ye was very nice, kind, funny and respectful. He made the experience so smooth! I was honestly in and out with my new car in half an hour!!! He also didn't pressure me to buy any extras either! The vibes were amazing throughout the whole building. Everyone there was so polite!!! My sister purchased a car from a CarMax in her area and was very happy with her experience. I was thrilled to learn that there was a CarMax 3 miles from my home. I started checking there website for the car I was looking for. I was also checking the Dealer website. I found that CarMax had a much better selection and prices. I just happened to be checking the Carmax website when I say my car. I was sure it would be gone by the time I arrived at CarMax. Guess what it wasn't. As soon as I looked at the car I knew it was mine. I had the luck of dealing with Jim Griffin. He was absolutely the most wonderful person I've had the pleasure of working with. The experience was all very positive. I was in and out in 2 hours with the car of my dreams. The last time I purchased a car it took 5 to 6 hours and it was a very painful experience. Jim and the staff who processed the sale were all very professional and kind. Thank you. The only negative comment is the the phone system. It is more than difficult to reach a person. So i got off a bit early from work to make my 3:00 appointment I called beforehand to have the application ready so when I arrived I didn't have to jump through hoops. The agents on the phone were great as well as Jim the sales associate and the gentleman who appraised my vehicle, so after being there for a bit Jim came out to meet me very professional we looked at all the vehicles I figured I could maybe qualify for all was going great until I gave my pay check stubs and the finance department could not figure out the situation with the industry I work in, the hours, the hourly wage all was clear unfortunately they do not understand that working on a television show or rather shows is not going to compute in their system as a 9 to 5 job appears. Needless to say I wasted 2 hours of my day only for the finance person to tell me to take my paperwork to the nearest credit union so that they can approve my loan, wrong again! Went to CarMax in Canoga Park with money in my purse, ready to buy a car. It was about an hour and a half before closing time and I selected two I was interested in test driving. I added my name to the waitlist and told the customer service representative I was interested in going home in a car. There were four or five people in front of me. I waited about 45 minutes before the sales manager - who looked like a teenager - rushed up to me and asked me to sit down at a cubicle. He hurriedly asked me how my credit was and asked much money I had to put down. He punched in some numbers and spun the computer screen around to show me what range my car note would be in. By this time, it was about 30 minutes until closing time. I told him I wanted to test drive both cars. He looked at his watch and said I didn't have time. I objected and told him I was interested in buying a car and had to test drive it in order to see if I wanted it. (DUH!) He said no can do and I can just buy it and if I didn't like it, I could bring it back. I have been buying cars a LONG time and have never heard of someone, especially the sales manager, not allowing someone to test drive a car and suggesting they just buy it on the spot. Needless to say, I left. The next day, I went to a Honda dealership and bought a car. Buyer beware. read more

Thieves and liars. I got their appraisal quote for my leased car 7 days ago, I came in today to turn my car in, the salesperson knew that I would come back on the 7th day to do so, their appraisal is advertised valid for 7 days. Carmax told me that they needed a new payoff quote from VW even though the payoff quote they got was valid until 9/19 (10 days) but carmax explains that it is too short of time from today to until VW receives their check and " had " to request another payoff quote. Which of course changed and added another $600. Mind you, VW issues different payoff quotes to dealerships than their lessees. My payoff quote is $18,175, carmax was (the first one a week ago) was $19,900 and again today the rip off amount of $20,556. Carmax offers is nowhere near my payoff. My car is two years old, impeccable and only has 12,500 miles. Pandemic or not, shortage of cars and chips and what not or not, carmax is in total breach of contract for an offer they made to me and served me the incredible BS of " it's VW's fault " only to get their payoff quote higher and for me to have to pay more out of pocket to them. 0 stars// This company is HORRIBLE Horrible. I was shopping for a car several years ago. And I went in saw a car I liked. Test drove it. First they dont let you drive on a freeway, or main streets. They make you drive in a circle around the dealership. That may have changed since I test drove maybe the same. I found a car I liked so we started the paperwork. But I was leary hesitant even though Im not a mechanic, I have been driving for years. The car didnt seem to drive smooth, I though it might be cause Im used to my own car. So I said I need to think about it. And I went home they had given me a car fax (details on the car, mileage, owner history, if it had been in a wreck, totalled etc). Car Maxs car fax said the car was fine. IT WAS NOT. According to the car fax online, you just go online and type in car details vin. etc. The car had been in a wreck before. Something Car Max FAILED to tell me about. So I contacted Car Max spoke with another person manager I insisted he tell me the truth. He said the car indeed had been in an accident which was NOT on their car fax. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE of car dealerships that dont tell the truth. So I didnt get the car. Trust me. I went to another dealership once and i took a toyota truck on a test drive and he let me floor it and it didnt pick up speed i said is it broken. The toyota dealership salesperson said no this truck is 4 cylinder it wont pick up speed. You Have to test drive cars on freeway or streets where you can really see if the car runs good. Doesnt mean to go over speed limit just make sure car runs right. Always bring a family member NO not youre baby sister or little brother but a parent or someone who knows about cars. Have a mechanic your mechanic check out the car. I did that on the car i own now and he said not to get the car/ But I loved the car. Yes its had some many problems but i love my car I got it at Enterprise Car Sales. Its more money than a dealership or car max. Yes no haggling its a set price like car max unless they changed their policies. But its worth it. Or buy from the dealership for good warranties, and authorized parts. I service my car at an authorized Hyundai dealership. More money but worth it except sometimes i get tires or oil change at smaller place. Enterprise Car Sales they are good. When I bought my car they gave me the exact car i wanted specs and all except inside seat material only because that material was only for a car made in a certain year everything else was perfect, color, wood grain, interior color, v6 zoom zoom . I love my car thank you Wendy from Van Nuys Enterprise Car Sales I think she doesnt work there anymore its been years and they moved they have many locations. Nice friendly. I just need money now to get new car. Everyone should check them out. This not a review pointed at the Canoga Park location, but the whole internet car buying process offered by this operation. I found a truck via the internet on Saturday, and called the Canoga Park location only to find out that the car was being looked at for purchased where it was located in Sacramento. Sunday, the truck reappears on their website. I call at 7:30am Monday morning. Phone is answered by a rep in Georgia( time difference). She proceeds to send the link to get a trade in value which their "Experts" proceed to lowball at the lowest possible trade in value. She states she is going to put the truck on hold for 7 days. When I call back in the afternoon, a different rep tells me that the truck is on hold, but not for me. Apparently, the rep in Georgia totally fumble the process, now this vehicle is supposedly not available...again. This type of failure has completely soured me on the whole virtual car buying process. Not only will I not use Car Max. I will now look at places where you can actually do transactions in real time with real humans that can successfully do their jobs. If I could give them and their podunk virtual process a 0 star rating, I would. I will happily take my 40 grand elsewhere. read more
