    Ford we purchased from Carmax
    Anne E.

Absolutely recommend! We found a car for my daughter on their website and had it shipped from Oregon. Drove it and bought it, which was an easy process. After driving it home/car warming up more, I noticed a very obvious 'shimmy' and an intermittent reduction of power. I called Carmax (I was within my 10 days to return car, but didn't want to unless it was the only option), and explained concerns. They scheduled me with a local Ford dealership, who diagnosed a clutch/transmission problem that was no longer under warranty from Ford. Carmax paid the $2900 for the repair, as well as the fee to have Ford do a total dx. Yes, Carmax probably should have noticed the problem before selling the car, but they 100% covered the issue under their 90 day warranty without batting an eye. Very, very impressed! My teen driver is so happy!

I know I'm going to sound like the old guy that says, 'Get off my lawn' but in my days if you were looking for a used car there were places with guys in big Stetson hats and very bad suits. The other option was the 'Pennysaver'. It was a printed newspaper/magazine that had all the used car deals within a 60-mile radius. Those pictures were often times blurry and the descriptions were just the headlines to grab your attention. Fast forward to today and there's CarMax. I've been to the one Meridian several times for our kids and brother-in-law. ProTip 1: Go online and check the available inventory for Meridian. There will be other vehicles available from California, Oregon, and Utah but there will be a delivery charge for them to be transported to Meridian ProTip 2: if possible make an appointment instead of just showing up. Please note you can just show up though but it's recommended to make an appointment ProTip 3: Keep your expectations low. You may not come home with a vehicle. It happens for a variety of reasons ProTip 4: Manage your time. Expect to be at CarMax for three to four hours. The last time we visited we worked with Emily. Emily perfectly encapsulates the service you'll find a CarMax. She's not here to make a sale au contraire, she's there to help you fall in love with your car. Emily was straight honest and transparent. I really truly felt her genuineness for our son and our family. We live in a metropolitan area that requires you to need a car. Not having a car is extremely difficult but not impossible. Our son needed a car since his previous car is beyond repair. In the end, cooler heads prevailed, and our son made a grown-up decision to wait until he had some more leverage to bargain with. I hope that Emily will still be there in a couple of months for our son's ribbon-cutting ceremony with his dream car. CarMax we'll be back and that's a guarantee or else my name isn't Cal Worthington. Just kidding

12th reviewer of Meridians CarMax. This is my 361st review. Wow... seriously! EASY!! I started looking online at cars, looking at safety ratings, fuel mileage and so on. I needed a second car, just something small. I stumbled upon the car that I was interested in through Carmax website at a very good price, low mileage, and a great condition for being a 2-year-old car. I applied online, and within 30 minutes I was called with a "pre-approval". After discussing the car in more detail, I applied for it. Was approved in minutes with a fair monthly payment and nothing down. I made an appointment for later that afternoon and went down. When I got there, I noticed many people buying or selling their cars. I was immediately shown "my car" and suggested to test drive and inspect the vehicle before making any decisions (yes of course). I went for a ride with the salesman George, who made a good conversion with "dad talk" about our kids and the good they're doing in the world. I was sold on the vehicle. We went inside and the car was taken to be filled with fuel, washed, and cleaned. I told George that it was clean enough, but he said that's the Carmax way... so, I just smiled. Within minutes I was at the finance person's desk. The paperwork was already printed, no need for those long forms that take forever to print on and you feel as though you're back in the 80's. As we signed he placed the papers, a different George this time (spelled Jorje), into a scanner/printer which printed my copes as we went-- so much time savings. I literally bought a car in less than 30 minutes. It's taken hours in the past-- literally hours... Once the paperwork was signed we walked over to the televison waiting room. I then noticed my new car, all shiny, with a big bow on the hood. What a good experience. I, seriously, will never buy a car at another place. Thanks Carmax. WOW. Stress free and proud to be!

My daughter called me to tell me that she was going to see a car at Auto Star Motors and her appointment was with Steve. My "Spidey Sense" was tingling and I was on a Star Trek "Red Alert". I did a Google search, followed by some review of the model and make on Kelly Blue Book, then to Car Fax. I was prepared for the showdown. We arrived on time and let Steve finish with his previous appointment. The office is clean, neat, professional looking. We didn't get that sleazy used car dealer feeling which was a positive first impression. The car, a Subaru Crosstrek looked good and we took it for a drive in the chilly December evening. I talked to my daughter and asked what type of down payment was she going to propose. She had a plan but I was still on the defense. So many stories of customers getting screwed from used cars dealers and I have had my own personal experiences with my brother in law right here in Boise. We get back and it's time for 'Let's make a deal' The good news is that the car looked and performed well. The car fax info matched what I saw online earlier and the price was good. My daughter's trade in was on its last two wheels but Steve wanted to check it out and after his test drive, I was thankful he was still alive. He was more than up front and generous with trade in value of her car and she had some cash to put down. While I was feeling a little better about Auto Star Motors and Steve, I wasn't completely convinced. I showed Steve some of the Yelp reviews and I wanted him to provide some context. He was very transparent throughout which I appreciated. It was at that point that I told my daughter that even though I was feeling better about this whole process that she would wait until she had some more money for a down payment. I explained to Steve why I felt that and my overall concern for my daughter. It was at this point that we talked like two Dads sitting at a coffee shop. He was open, genuine and reassuring. Not once did I feel that we were getting bamboozled. I relayed my concerns and trepidations and Steve was receptive and made the efforts to understand my concerns and assured me that my daughter would be taken care of. I went home to get to the title for her jalopy aka death trip and returned back at the office. The financing was done through Capital One and my daughter knows that if she has any issues she can bring the car back to Steve and his team at Auto Star I purposely waiting to do this review almost 30 days to see how the car performs and to make sure that there weren't any issues. I'm glad to report that there hasn't been a single issue with the car or with Auto Star Motors. The experience with Steve was not a battle that I prepared for but instead was two guys who had a common goal of making sure that my daughter was safe and not getting a bad deal. Thanks Steve for making my daughter's first car shopping experience a positive one. You earned the 5 Stars.

I'm now down to two potential vehicles I'm looking for. I decided to swing by my mechanic shop since it was only a few blocks down the road and check and see if anyone had advertised a used car for sale on their Bulletin board. Sadly, they no longer have that wonderful bulletin board! When I mentioned the type of car I was looking for one of the guy said he saw one on a car lot near Fairview and Mitchell but didn't know the name of the lot. Well, I rolled into a few lots before I found it! I was totally bummed the vehicle I was searching for it sold yesterday. I would've bought it in a hot second. So, this review does not include my experience with the actual purchase process but I'm giving them five stars because it was such a pleasant experience especially compared to a few other places I i've gone to. Jeremy was kind and attentive and for the first time in a long time was actually willing to keep an eye out for specific vehicles and call if one comes up for sale. I have asked at least five other sales people at other dealerships the same thing and never received a follow up call. They often only go through the motions of taking my number and clearly aren't listening to what I am looking for Jeremie was very familiar with the details of the two vehicles I'm looking for and understood exactly why I was looking for them. I loved feeling confident that if they could get their hands on one that I would get a call. I'm not in any rush unless my 30+ year old car breaks down and is unrepairable (I do love it but parts are hard to come by!) Extra bonus points: I actually got a straight answer on financing in advance of even having identified a car. Hopefully I can get my hands on a GX 470 since I've been lusting over them for 10 years now. first time I've ever left the car lot feeling happy and hopeful! I'm looking forward to riding a great review on the purchase process.
