My daughter had bought and vehicle way back around Halloween time for certain reasons she opted not to get the extended warranty life happens and boy did it :-( her vehicle through a valve and popped a hole in the engine block and we were really concerned :-( but with a prayer and the truth we went to CarMax and explain what happened and they really stepped up and stepped out they said even though there was no extended warranty they wanted all their customers to be happy they paid for half the motor took care of the labor and took real good care of us :-) they didn't have to do that but they did :-) I thank God for his blessings through the people at Carmax :-) Arnold and Ignacio we're awesome and showed that they truly had heart and cared for my daughter and you can understand that meant a lot to me I am and will continue to be a CarMax fan client and refer family and friends to them God bless CarMax in Palmdale and thanks again to you all be blessed read more

My husband has a Mercedes transferred from another CarMax to this one, and they called us to let us know it was in. Even though it was the Fourth of July, they were open til 7pm. The facility is clean, and you can get coffee and water. There are even vending machines for snacks. Erik helped us from start to finish that day, and I cannot express how kind he was, and how comfortable he made us both feel. He left no question unanswered, and was so personable. He even showed me pictures of his cute dog when I mentioned ours! He stayed past closing for us, which I really appreciated- as did a lot of other employees for other customers! I had an appointment for 3:00 and checked in on time. I was told it would be about 10-15 minutes before someone would be with me. I was directed outside to the area where the vehicle I was looking at was located. After 35 minutes of waiting in the heat, I went back inside to find out how much longer it was going to be. I was told I was next in line but there was no way of telling how much longer it would be. The lady said maybe another 10-15 minutes. At this point I just left. I can understand having to wait for a small amount of time but not 30+ minutes when you have an appointment. read more

i had to leave my car there for three weeks and i'm already having problems with it a week later, not to mention they didn't even fix one of the problems i had listed. they also shaved down my calipers (maybe you could've just changed? the same way you did my rims) to then also change the rims of my car as if i wouldn't notice. if you get a car from carmax and it has problems just take it to your local mechanic, i'm sure they'll fix your car in half that time, as well as, make sure they ACTUALLY give you good parts. don't use their warranty unless you really need to. read more

Lillian was the service representative assigned to me and was a pleasure to deal with. The technician that worked on my vehicle did a great job fixing what I brought it in for AND fixed an additional problem that the Costa Mesa location refused to acknowledge was a problem and I didn't even mention it to the technician or Lillian! I wasn't going to buy another vehicle from CarMax after my experience in the Costa Mesa location but I've changed my mind after the service I've received from Palmdale CarMax. read more

I traded in a car and they kind of low balled me so I had to roll over more into a new loan than I wanted, but they financed it better than my own bank so it worked out in the end. I bought my first car from Carmax. I was hesitant at first but found a really good deal on a truck I wanted and gave it a shot. I bought the truck in Sacramento and drove it back down here. It was rainy so I didn't notice several issues with the truck until the next day. I called carmax and they directed me to carmax Palmdale to get it looked at. The windshield had several decent sized chips. Carmax replaced the windshield without any hassle. Very good service. In the following week I noticed the truck was getting hot commuting home from work. Again I called carmax. They didn't hesitate. Thats when I met Vanessa, the service advisor lead. She took in my truck and set me up with a loaner vehicle. She was very nice and polite. During the process she kept me posted on the progress and kept checking to make sure I was informed on the repair. She was a very kind person that was also a pro at her job. I could tell she was busy every day and still took the time to take care of her customers. She is one of those employees every buisness would be lucky to have. I just can't say enough about how amazing Vanessa is at her job. It's not very often you come across someone that takes that much pride in customer service. As of now I'm a fan of Carmax. read more

PISS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Initially the car we purchased was quoted 2k lower online than it was on the lot. The Sales Manager Scott Campbell said that they don't negotiate sticker prices, so to apologize for the company's mess up the sales manager gives us 2 oil change vouchers that cover $25 each. First of all their standard oil change price is $30. Secondly seeing how the sales manager seen all the car info, he was aware that the car we purchased took synthetic oil which costs $53 per visit. Not only did they screw up the price of the sticker we seen online, but then Scott Campbell blatantly low-balled us with these worthless vouchers! Needless to say for any future service needs, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Three bad reviews frankly shocked me, as my experience was the antithesis. I am a retired Service Manager, (30 years on the job), so I'm fortunate I know what I'm doing. I checked out 5-6 cars, looking under the hood, in the trunks, under the cars, finding no damage, bent core supports, over spray, orange peeling, or missing skid plates plastic or otherwise under the cars. I settled on a Lexus 350. Carmax told me I had 5 days to try the car out, and If for any reason I didn't like it, I could bring it back, no questions asked. I was suspicious of that being true to the letter, but I do know other dealers who will give you a 2-3 day trial on used cars. The car was flawless inside, and out, everything worked. I Loved the no dicker sticker, especially as the price of the car was actually 400 dollars under blue book, and had Very little mileage on it. I drove it home, than took it on a little trip, and you know, I didn't like it. It wasn't crap, far from it, I just wasn't comfortable in it, and expected the electronics to be more up to date, so I brought it back, expecting a Major hassle. I could have even received a refund, but the cars on their lot were in showroom condition, so I wanted an exchange. I saw my sales person, who couldn't have been nicer, and she said, "Oh, I'm sorry it didn't meet your needs." Please go look at anything out on our lot, and I'll start the exchange paperwork; just like that. No bs, no essay on why I didn't like the car, just, "We're sorry, grab anything else on the lot!" I was...well, really kind of shocked! I found a Gorgeous, Loaded 14 Altima, drove it, and Loved it! It has 28,000, the interior looked showroom, and didn't have a scratch on it. The oil was clear, tires perfect, no rattles, and everything worked. The paperwork took about 45 minutes, with NO hassles, or questions asked! They detailed it, filled it with gas, and off I went. I've had the car a month now, and LOVE it! 39 mpg on the highway, drives like a brand new car. I will be buying my next used car there when my daughter graduates. There was Never pressure on me. I took my time looking at everything, no pressure to purchase detail packages, extended warranties, (Thought they do offer them), just a Very nice young lady, beautiful cars, pay for the car, and walk out stress free. I Highly recommend Car max to anyone who is looking for a Quality used car. Check the tires, bring or take the car to a mechanic, or whatever you feel you need to do, but you won't find more quality used cars at any dealership, or Certainly some independent mom and pop used car lot, who buy their cars at auctions, or get dealership rejects. I had been in this business a long time, and the Palmdale location was a class act. No, she didn't know Everything about the Altima, but as a sales person, it's impossible to know Everything about Every make and model they carry, which is anything you could think of. Let me say Nicolle was very sweet and helped a lot. The cars are over priced I found the same cars with mileage in the same ballpark and for $3000 cheaper. Also they test drove and appraised my car and when I was leaving I noticed that they knocked over A FULL CUP OF SODA OVER and left it leaking in my car and all over and inside of my purse. First the guy that did it said he "didn't see the cup" which was a large cup on the driver side. Then he said that the cup empty instead of just apologizing for having my soda spill all over my passenger seat. The soda spilt all over my shoes the right door all over the passenger side floor so you can tell he was driving my car recklessly because I have never spilt nor has anything spilt in my car before let alone all over the passenger side. They offered to clean my car but was very rude about it we told them we don't have time anymore because my significant other has to get to work and you can clean the car but my shoes my moms purse and my purse along with important papers and items inside my purse have been damaged so cleaning my car doesn't solve the problem. Them manager was rude said "here's my card take it up with our legal team" and believe me I will. This was the best buying experience I have had in probably 25 years! No hassles,no aggravation,no cubicles or boiler rooms that force you to take everything they up sell you. This establishment simply wants the customer to be first from the minute you walk in the door until you leave. They even put a bow on your car and your car is presented on a big screen that shows it was sold. Our sales girl was a young lady that did such a good job and it's her first job as a sales Rep. Alexandra was terrific. I am over the moon with the whole experience and Carmax has us for life. I totally recommend this as your only stop in the Antelope Valley for your vehicle needs. I am extremely angry, so sorry if this rants a bit. Let me give some back story. I had come into this Carmax and test drove a car. I had some concerns about the air conditioning (not very cold) and the clutch (seemed a bit soft). The sales person told me she would have the car looked at by the shop and contact me when it was ready all the while she would put the vehicle on hold for me! Great, so far. I was called two days later and was excited to hear they recharged the AC and that the car was ready for me. I came down to the location after work and took the car out for a test drive. I was ready to buy (cash). My sales person should me what they were going to give me for my trade (very generous). Here is where things go bad. When the sales person pulled up the car to start the purchase, she found another sales person had the car "on hold". She thought this was just an old hold, but I did ask her how he could have it on hold if I already had it on hold? *crickets*....Sales person with hold on it said he was running a credit app against the car. SO I guess my name was never placed on the car? I still tried to keep upbeat saying to my sales associate, "Well, if they made the decision before me, I just missed out." I waited because there was a chance the financing would not go through. When it did, my associate had to hand over the keys and let me know that the car was being purchased by this other customer. Now, stay with me, if this was an outright purchase, that to me means the customer had looked at the car, test drove the car, agreed to purchase the car and was now going through the financing. So, I asked my sales associate, "when did they test drive this car?" *more crickets*. She mumbled something and then walked off to hand over the keys......This is where it went REALLY wrong in my opinion....The other sales associate, upon receiving the keys from my associate announces to his customer, "Would you like to take the car for a test drive?" WTF! So what you are telling me is I was ready to buy, they were not and yet I still lose the car! This is a HORRIBLE business policy and if you have a team of shyster, dishonest sales people, this a great way for them to "stack" their weekend, out holds on hot cars and run apps against them until the customers REALLY choose a car. I don't make scenes, I don't yell, and I don't demand......I just NEVER RETURN and tell ALL my contacts about the issue. From reading through the other reviews, it sounds like "used car" sales styles are still being used here....Note: I bought a car from the Hertz Rental Car sales in Pasadena. Got a 2018 Kia Soul+ with 15k miles for $13k. No Carmax location could even come close! Sorry, AV doesn't need this type of business... read more

We told him what we were looking for, we drove it, but didn't fit right in the car.so, we told him we would be back to try the other car we wanted to. He was cool about it. We went back a few days later, after finding another car on their site, and drove out with our new car. It went pretty smooth. The only thing was the car wasn't as clean as I would like, but no biggie. We love our car and our experience. Be cautious of being sold the CarCare warranty that sounds great when the sales person pitches it. Purchased the warranty when I purchased a vehicle from them a year and a half ago. I recall the sales rep telling me how excellent their service department is and any issues with the vehicle I could bring to them even if under warranty through manufacture. A few weeks back, the sunroof I rarely use failed. Did some research online and determined I could probably replace the failing parts myself thinking CarCare would not cover anything other than engine related issues. I looked through my paperwork and realIzed this might be covered. Contacted the insurance company that is actually CarCare or reimburses CarMax service department for parts and labor, they informed me that it would be something that would be covered. I contacted CarMax service department on 10/01 and asked if it would be covered, I was informed it would be but their service department was backed up and appointments were 2 weeks out. I made the appointment for 10/17 and was informed I had a $0 deductible. During that wait I was fortunate to see unforecasted rain late one night and was able to cover the open sunroof and avoid further problems. After missing work on 10/17 I was informed I would have to leave my vehicle with them and a loaner would be provided after diagnosis and approval from insurance company. Within 5 minutes of arriving home I got a call from CarMax service saying they needed approval for $600 in labor. The sunroof had to be disassembled, if it was determined it was an issue not covered I needed to approve I would be willing to pay $600 to cover their labor. I was referred to the manufacturer as the issue might be still under warranty to avoid the cost of labor from them. After paying for a ride share the service rep tried explaining in further detail their justifications but I calmly explained I was not personally upset at her, I just wanted my vehicle and did not want to deal with them any further. I will be cancelling CarCare. No knock on their customer service, Mariana and Joshua were great to deal with and CarMax's business model when selling vehicles is excellent. The cost of paying a little more for a used vehicle you can get somewhere else is worth it for the customer service. I would purchase a vehicle from them again for the same reason I did the first time, they had the exact year/make/model/trim/color/options I was looking for. But stay away from CarCare. Be nice and let the sales person make their quota, but cancel it shortly after. read more
