I live just a few blocks from Carmella's, and after more than a year, I finally made it in. I only wish I had gone sooner because the food is that good. My mother-in-law ordered the South Loop Double Burger, and I got the Chicken Parm Panouzzo. Both sandwiches were huge and could easily be shared if you wanted to. I put a quick stop to that, though, when her fork and knife came back for another bite of my sandwich. I had to say, "No, no!" It was just that delicious. The restaurant has a great neighborhood feel, the portions are generous, and the food is packed with flavor. Watching all of the pizzas coming out of the kitchen made me realize why they do such a busy takeout pizza business. I can't wait to order one to go. They not only serve pizza but they have delicious other options as well! The buffalo wings were surprisingly really good, a decent sized wing and good sauce! Bonus was the extra ranch! I finally made it back to Carmella's & Pearl Market to try the new menu, and I honestly can't believe how much they've elevated the experience. First, the pizza. If you're looking for authentic East Coast-style pizza in Denver, this is it. The crust has that perfect balance of crispy on the outside and chewy inside, the The Money Ball is sooooo good. It's one of those pizzas where you immediately start planning your next visit before you've even finished your first slice. The biggest surprise, though, was the South Loop Double Burger. I've had burgers all over Denver, and I genuinely think this one belongs at the top of the list. The beef was incredibly flavorful, the cheese was perfectly melted, the toppings were balanced, and the bun held everything together without getting soggy. It was simple in all the right ways and absolutely packed with flavor. Should I boldy say, the best burger I've had in Denver recently. The new menu feels thoughtful from top to bottom. It's obvious that a lot of care went into creating dishes that aren't just trendy but are genuinely delicious. Whether you're stopping in for pizza, burgers, coffee, or browsing the market afterward, there's something that makes you want to stay a little longer. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly without being overbearing, and the whole place has that neighborhood feel that keeps you coming back. Every time we visit Carmella's (and it's often) we're happy campers. We have purchased items at the market but more often than not we actually get pizza or pasta or the sandwiches, but not tonight. Tonight we embarked on the focaccia with marinara and ricotta followed by their short rib. Just wow. The bread was so fresh with chunks of roasted garlic, the marinara is homemade, and top it off with ricotta. Be still my heart. I had a terrible experience. It took a ridiculous amount of time to get a coffee. There were four employees in the kitchen and only one was working. Three other employees just sat around acting like toddlers doing nothing to contribute to work load. Only one person was handling the barista work, table service, and clearing. It was disgraceful. As much as I love their moneyball pizza, the last time we ordered, they really messed up the timing. My husband placed the order at 3:45 pm for pickup at 5:00pm and we he got there, after waiting for 10 minutes they realized they hadn't started his order and somehow had the time for pickup wrong. It took another 20 ish minutes to make the pizza at that point, all with a hungry toddler fussing. My husband did call in the order instead of ordering online. They gave us a complimentary dessert for waiting which was a nice gesture (the miso caramel banana pudding) but we weren't fans unfortunately. The banana pudding itself was great but the miso gave it a very bitter taste. I also have yet to have the pizza as crunchy as the first time we got it, even after asking for it extra cooked (we've had it 3 times since). It's been a solid 8/10 everytime but the first time we had it was a 10/10 and I'm sad I can't experience that again. read more

Had an event on this side of town, so my friend and I decided to beat traffic and check this place out before. There's a high-end specialty food market with a well-curated offering high quality items and a nice selection of beer and wine. On the other side there's an eatery with app, pizza, and sandwiches. I was pleasantly surprised to find a variety of lambic and enjoyed a new to me grape varietal Tilquin. We also have the meatball appetizer and the margarita pizza, both were quite delicious! I really liked the addition of giardinera in the red sauce that came with the meatballs, it added a nice kick of Chicago flair. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pizza! One of the better ones I've had in Denver. Both were very flavorful with quality fresh ingredients. I would recommend this spot for a casual lunch or dinner! I'm so happy Carmella's opened up in our neighborhood! Despite being a small shop, the carefully curated selection of food is great for picking up last minute dinner items, putting together a picnic or throwing together snacks for book club. The kiddos love grabbing a slice of pizza and having dinner on the patio outside and I've gotten a lot of helpful input on the wine side of the shop. Such a gem! read more

Great neighborhood restaurant and store. Literally right down the street from me so it's very convenient. It's got good pizza to eat and good selection of drinks food and wine to buy off the shelf. Their ice cream is pretty good too. During the day at lunch, it's packed with high school children. But the times that I go for dinner and weekends it's never packed and I can always get my food pretty fast. Prices are a little bit more expensive, but not bad. Service is always friendly. read more

This locally owned joint is a welcome gem to the north central park neighborhood. We are addicted to their pizza (my husband is a New Yorker and they have his approval) - I especially love the moneyball with meatballs and ricotta.
