Ordered food a few years ago and was very underwhelmed so gave em another shot and ate in this time for lunch. Even more disappointing this time with food and service. My husband and I ordered stuffed shells, a small pizza and a couple of regular drinks. From start to finish it was not worth the time or money. Took a while for someone to offer to take our drink order and by the time she did we knew what we wanted anyways and just gave it all. Took 15 minutes to get our water and soda, an additional 25 minutes for our food. The shells were watery and tasted store bought and the pizza was a lot of bread, bland and a very sweet sauce. I placed a delivery order to my hotel and was very disappointed with the faux Italian food I received. The chicken parm was very overlooked, dry with very little sauce. I asked for balsamic dressing, but got only balsamic vinegar with my salad. The salad was covered with bland canned grated cheese. If I was in the resturant I wouldn't have sent the food back - it was that bad. My recommendation is find another spot that has a better value and better food. read more

Amazing! This is the 2nd night in a row we ordered from here. Yesterday we had meatball sub, chicken parm, ceasar salad and chicken fingers. It was fantastic so we ordered again tonight. Came in tonight to grab a quick dinner. Our server (I believe his name was Jose) was very short and to the point with us, and didn't make direct eye contact. I honestly got the feeling he didn't even want to be helping us to begin with. We noticed similar behavior and treatment between guests and servers at other tables around us. That aside, we got our order served to us very promptly and the food was very fresh and tasted excellent. Definitely would be willing to give this place a second chance based upon the food, but will definitely request a different server and hope for better service in the future. If I could give them a 0 I would I waited an hour and a half for a delivery that never came called three times within the last 30 mins and was given every excuse in the book that it would be there in a few minutes I demanded my money back and now I have to wait 5 days to get it back for there screw up they did not offer to replace my order for free or anything. I even went to confront them and got nothing except I can make your son new chicken tenders for free who has been waiting 2 hours to eat now I have to wait to get my money back and go by my 2 year old food with more money from somewhere else at 800 at night. This is my go to place for pizza. I usually order the New York Style pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and bacon. They are always very generous with the toppings! The pizza is always cooked nicely, no soggy crust! Their Hawaiian pizza is also pretty good with large chunks of pineapple. Their sub sandwiches are also pretty good and very large. I usually get the chicken parmesan sub and it's always loaded with cheese, chicken, and sauce. I find the fries to be disappointing, they're too soggy and undercooked for my liking. I've only tried one of their pasta dishes (but I've had it several times) and that is the Tortellini Tri Colore, and it's excellent!! The dinner portion is HUGE!! You can easily split it into two or three meals. I love the sauce and the combination of peas, prosciutto and mushrooms. Very yum!! Their garlic bread can be hit or miss, sometimes it is garlicy and awesome and some days not so much. I do love the added kick of the red pepper flakes on the garlic bread. read more

I stayed in Baltimore for a couple of days and the front desk recommended this place. I go online to order my food, after placing the order and paying I get a phone call from this place in which they told me they didn't have the Chicago style crust so i requested the Sicilian style crust. She relayed they didn't have that either, so i ask for the New York styel and since it was cheaper could they substitute for something else to make up the difference needless to say the asshole of a manager gets on the phone and say they cant substitute and i need to cancel my order online and resubmit. I told them to forget it because they don't have anything in which their online website stated. He hung up on me and was very rude. I would not recommend this place horrible customer service and if you order online please call to ensure they have it available and ready...it was only 3pm so not sure why nothing was ready. Very disappointed! I ordered a pizza for delivery and was told it would take 40 to 45 minutes. I was surprised when it took less than 20 minutes to arrive. I paid the driver and gave him a very nice tip. After he left I looked at the pizza and realized it was burned. I assume they just have premade pizzas and add your toppings and put it in the oven and burn it. read more

ORIGINAL REVIEW (8/2/13): A friend of my boyfriend stumbled upon this place a couple years ago, and they went quite frequently. My bf then took me, and I was hooked. I've never had a bad meal there - the chicken parm is good, as are the calzones, but our pizza of choice is the Chicken Popeye pizza. Loads of fresh vegetables, and chicken chunks, on a sweet, flavorful crust. We've dined in multiple times, but also go the extra 10 minutes out of the way for pickup. The service is always great as well, but last night, I had a terrible experience. Back in January 2013, www.bmorebargains.com was offering a Groupon-type deal for Carmelo's, and I bought 4 of them. They had a deal for $10 for $20, and then another deal for $15 for $30. I chose the first option, as we rarely spend more than $20 for the 2 of us. I had used 2 of the vouchers previously, both during dinner hours, and had no problems. We'd gone several times between now and then (usually at least once a month), but I just forgot to bring the vouchers with me. When my mom and I decided to go last night, I pulled out the 2 vouchers I had left, and realized they had expired a couple of weeks ago. The vouchers state that once the expiration date passes, the deal no longer applies, but you can use the voucher at face value (what you paid for them) towards your meal. I had 2 vouchers left, so I figured $10 for each voucher equaled $20, and that would cover our meal. But things didn't work out as planned. We ordered the Chicken Popeye as usual and waited for our food. When the waitress brought the pizza to the table, it was the wrong pizza. I informed her, she apologized, and went back to fix it. Shortly after, she came back and said they gave someone else our pizza by accident (there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied, and they already had their food, so it must've been a pickup). She said they'd rush the new pizza and it'd only take 10 minutes (turned out to be more like 20-25). However, she did offer a comp-ed appetizer in the meantime, so we had mozzarella sticks. The pizza arrived, we ate, and it was delicious as usual. However, she forgot our refills and had to be reminded during the course of the meal. When we were ready to cash out, I showed her the vouchers, and explained that they were expired, but I wanted to use the amount I paid to cover this meal. She refused to take them. She pointed out something I never noticed - the fine print showed "$10 for $20 - Lunch; $15 for $30 - Dinner". However, I explained that I had used my other 2 vouchers during dinner hours, and never had a problem. Additionally, the deal no longer applied, so the voucher was essentially voided - I simply was cashing in money I'd already paid, no discount applied - she still refused. Furthermore, she said the vouchers couldn't be used together. It says "cannot combine with other offers" - but I argued that this is not an "offer" any longer, as the discount doesn't apply. She still wouldn't budge. I asked to speak to her manager, and she challenged me and said she WAS the manager. Funny, because as frequently as I go, I've only ever seen her once before, and it was fairly recently. And that was a pretty crappy service experience for a "manager". I understand that there are certain stipulations with these deals, but I find it completely ridiculous that AFTER the deal was expired, I still couldn't use it toward my meal - not even ONE of them. I had to pay the entire bill out of pocket, despite having already paid $20 for these 2 vouchers in the past. And it's not even like there's a price difference between lunch and dinner items on the menu. They don't have a "Lunch" menu, and a "Dinner" menu - it's all in one, and the prices don't change based on the time of day. That pizza is still $16.99 for a Large, and $17.99 for an Extra Large, no matter what time of day you order it. So what's the purpose of the different price ranges for lunch versus dinner on the vouchers?? So basically, to get my money's worth, I have to come back TWICE, during lunch hours, and buy $10 worth of food. As a frequent, long-standing customer, I would think they'd have been more accommodating. IF I return, it will be at my bf's expense - they're not getting another cent of my money. And I may very well try to figure out a specific food combination from their menu that equals exactly $10, so they won't get a penny more out of me. Meh describes this place perfectly. I dined here once a while back and received food poisoning from their shrimp salad wrap, bleh. My boyfriend insisted that we give them another chance so we came for lunch. We were greeted quickly but other than that the service was very poor. Though the waitress was quite polite, the service was beyond unacceptable. I waited 45 minutes just to have the wrong pizza delivered to my table. Additionally I dropped my pizza multiple times due to inadequate pizza serving utensils. As I think about it, the waitress is actually quite rude. Moreover I mentioned noise complaints to the manager(twice might I say), and instead of telling the other guests to quite down, she told me that I needed to relax?!? I ordered a "Hawaiian chicken" wrap. The description online reads: "chicken, red grapes, pineapple & toasted almond." So I think I am going to get only those things, on a wrap. I pick it up, bring it back to my office and this is chicken SALAD with way too much mayo and cinnamon added! It was absolutely disgusting, not to mention I am slightly allergic to cinnamon (causes my lips and tongue to swell, but not anything very serious, thankfully). Our first visit. All 3 of us loved our entrees; veal, spaghetti w/ meat sauce and spaghetti carbonara. I would recommend going with angel hair pasta instead of spaghetti as spaghetti did not stay on fork too well as it was shorter pieces. If going for Cesar salad go for dressing on the side. I only ever take the time to write a review for exceptional service. What a nice find! Had to kill a few hours before a flight and wanted to catch up with someone. Wasn't much in the area around the airport until we stumbled upon this. The waiter (wish I could remember his name) was awesome and had a great personality. I was honestly expecting run of the mill food but my linguini with littlenecks was very very tasty. Low price for very good quality food!! So we still had a few hours before our flight so we were those people that stayed talking long after we paid the check. It was 3 in the afternoon so not a very busy time. But our waiter was so kind and brought us some water and a piece of cake to share and welcomed us to stay. It was so very kind and went above and beyond! Highly recommend! read more

Went on a Friday nite @ about 7:30 pm. Not crowded but a nice casual crowd which appeared to contain some "regulars." The bad to warrant 4 stars & not five? Mediocre off tasting coffee & the restroom needs better maintenance. And don't sit in the back due to cold air hitting you, unless the day is hot. Otherwise, the service was good as was all our food. We enjoyed pasta fagioli that was steaming hot as we liked, salad w/ baked salmon, & a large meat lovers pie half no cheese. Good portion sizes for the value. Went here for first time because we had a groupon. The place was kind of empty but filled up quickly. Onion rings were great. French fries not very hot. Guess I should have asked for well done fries. Pizza can get pretty boring after a while. Red sauce and cheese, maybe some pepperoni or something. Still boring. Break out of the mold and try one of Carmelo's specialty pizzas, they're fantastic! We got the Chicken al Pesto pizza last week and t was absolutely delicious. Artichoke hearts, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, olive oil, garlic and pesto. Such a welcome and delicious break from the usual boring old pizza. Many others to choose from on their gourmet pizza menu. We also got an order of calamari and it was perfect, not chewy or overcooked, spiced just right. In the past I've gotten a crabmeat pizza from there, but it doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore. I want to try more of their Italian dishes soon, but we did get just a basic cheesesteak recently too and it was better than any others I've had from local delivery places. Definitely worth a try and definitely go for the uniqueness they offer. Update: We've been here several times now for dine-in food other than the pizza. Every time has been excellent. The pasta dishes are delicious and many nice unique variations of sauces and meats/seafoods added in. read more

Something pretty weird recently happened at this place. I stopped in for carryout pizza and noticed a sign in the window: 'Buy any pizza and get the 2nd at 50%'. I asked the young server for the Saturday special and she said she didn't know if there was one. I referred to the sign in the window. Although she saw it, she seemed somewhat sceptical and said she had to check with the manager. The manager was 4 feet away counting money in the second register while 2 - 3 other waitresses watched. 3 - 4 minutes went by as the manager leisurely counted each bill denomination and my server made no attempt to ask her about the special. I finally asked, "Is there someone else who can help you?" She asked one of the nearby waitresses and they quickly shook their head. So to paint the picture, there were 4 workers watching this woman counting money and no one made an attempt to ask her a question so I could place my order. Then she started counting the coins. Finally I said, "I don't have time to stand here and watch her count money." The server shrugged and said, "Sorry". The manager never looked up once and a couple of the waitresses watched in disbelief as my daughter and I walked out the door. I've been to this place before and never received a friendly reception. I used to LOVE eating here, as someone who eats out most days of the week with a family of 5, this is only one of two reviews I've ever taken the time to write in hopes it reaches management ears. Unfortunately this place has really gone downhill consistently, given 3 or 4 "maybe it was a bad day" re-tries. While the people are pleasant when eating in, the food, pride in cooking \ preparation that desires a return customer, is non-existent. A restaurant \ carry-out \ pizza place cannot survive on merely pleasant service. Orders are seldom plated correct, delivery even worse, food is always presented in a rushed "the customer is a bother" fashion, sauces are cooked WAY too far in advance and greasy \ separated on most days, the pizza's are either rushed burnt or severely undercooked with cheese not even melted through, Garlic bread is a kitchen oil, cardboard mess with hot peppers sprinkled (not Italian garlic bread, lol), salads seldom as documented & plain watery pure balsamic vinegar as a dressing (wth!), the fries are ALWAYS way undercooked or RE-fries which is simply dry, gross and a perfect example of the not wanting to bother with each customer's order \ advanced mass production. IF I wanted this quality I would order from the Linthicum Domino's. read more
