This is a casual place with friendly, efficient service. The food was wonderful! My Green Chile and Jack Burger was cooked correctly to order (medium rare). It was very juicy. The pickles, lettuce and onion were all crispy and fresh. Tomato slice was good too. The onion rings were perfect. Good idea to use the big cups for dipping ranch dressing. I feel so bad because I was a little grumpy when I first got there as I had been sitting for like an hour at a nearby restaurant who ignored us for a drink order or even a kids menus. We ordered several Burgers, Our Server diligently asked how each burger should be cooked. We all wanted "Medium". After waiting for our food for way too long, (35 minutes - with only 3 other tables occupied), and several complaints at the table, our food finally arrived. Severely burnt tasteless Hockey Pucks... Obviously not cool, but we were in a hurry and really had no choice but to eat the horrible over-cooked husks (Most of us only took a bite or two and couldn't eat the rest, it was really bad). Sadly, it was the absolute Worst Burger I've ever had... It might have been good? if it were actually cooked and not burnt to a crisp first. Sadly I will never know... Great burgers and cold beer! Perfect! I was in between appointments and hungry, so I stopped for a burger to go. I stepped up to the bar right inside the door and was immediately greeted by a young lady who was polite and very attentive. I ordered my burger and was told it would be 10-15 minutes, so I decided to have a beer. While they didn't have a huge selection of draft beer, what they had was good, frosty cold, and mostly local. We love Carmen's!!! My whole family !!! My parent come to Carmens on a weekly basis at least. Me and my husband come maybe once a month. The food is always delicious and consistent and the service is always great and they're always very accommodating. I know my parents really liked the appetizers of the fried green beans so every time for a while they went , they would get the fried green beans as an appetizer before their entrée but the green beans are so good they would eat them all and get full. Well eventually Carmen let them use the fried green beans on their entrée instead of the french fries. I think that is really cool that she is super accommodating to them! I always have a hard time deciding what burger to get because they are literally all delicious and amazing. And maybe someday I would like to try the little Mexican food section that they have but their burgers are so good that it's hard to pick something else! This is just our go to place for really good delicious burgers and great service!!my only complain is that it's too small and they need more seating because they are always full and busy ;) but that's a good complaint to have! read more

My mom lives across the street so Carmen's is our go to for drinks or a quick meal. They have a great adult grilled cheese. They are also very close to the Luther Burbank center so I go to Carmen's before and or after going to events at the LBC. I always get great service here. I am ashamed to say I did not get a burger. I went in there with the intent to do so and got lost in the menu and my 2 month of crying. I WILL be back for the burgers. my 10/10 review goes to the charm of this place and Carmen herself. I left feeling like I walked out of my moms restaurant. Within the short 15 mins max of waiting for my Togo order I saw two very difficult to see things happen. Especially in one Sitting. One: a couple complements Carmen and her food praising how much they love coming here as they walked out and were waiting for her to give them a Togo cup for their drink. She even offered to fill it up. and two: a woman walks in and sits down, greeting Carmen like they were well acquainted and Carmen asks " usual Chardonnay?" The woman replied with a certain "yes". I didn't know Carmen when I walked Into this place and had no idea I'd get tue pleasure of meeting her but by the time I walked out I did. We were craving for burger and that place served that just fine - we were a party of 4 and tried the chili burger , the impossible burger the avocado burger and he bacon burger . They were all descent size (probably 150-180 gram patty ) fairly coarse grain (which I personally prefer ) and had a bit of a tummy Smokey taste to them . the accompanying French fries felt pretty fresh and yummy - we asked for sweet potato fries which were also good . I don't know what made adult exactly. I also ordered the onion rings and the fried pickles both of which were good. I don't know if it was the grease but it didn't end up settling well in my stomach.
