I always come here to smog my car. The last few times I was sure my 2005 car would not pass but it has passed everytime! He takes the time to make sure the smog is done well and you don't need an appointment. Sometimes there is one person ahead but he makes sure to get you started on paperwork as you wait. This is a great place to get your smog test! This is my third time getting my cars smog tested. I have three cars. They take care of everything- even the processing and submission To the DMV. A one stop shop. That's fast easy and reasonably priced. I called ahead of time to see what the wait was to get it tested. He said no wait. I grabbed a coffee and was on my way. I arrived to see that there was now a wait. One car on the rack and one person ahead of me. But this guy really means business. In just a few minutes he finishes the car on the rack and gets the next one on. Surprisingly he got that one done and he was ready for me to put my car on the rack. On the newer cars they don't hook it up to the exhaust as they used to. He was finished in a few minutes, I paid and was on my way home. Last time I was there he gave me a $10 of coupon. I presented it to him, and I saved a ten spot. He gave the coupon back so I can use it next time I come in. Great place to get this taken care of. The gentleman who works here is incredibly kind and hard-working. I phoned earlier this week and Dong, a nice, soft-spoken man, answered my call. Hours M-F 8:30-6:00, Sat 9-5. He said it was ok to arrive by 15 minutes before closing. And he confirmed Carmichael Smog Test is a star-certified, test only location. I later learned, pass or retest free. I made it in this morning at 9:15 and was super thankful for being the first one there since I had a lot of driving and a lot to accomplish that required a focused mind. Dong was kind and gave me an even better deal than what he shared over the phone. And that deal was better than nearly all of the 7 or so shops I called. My nearly 30-year old 3/4 ton passed smog and Dong did the smog check within 30 minutes, not rushing. Comfortable seating in the shop. If it's a cold day, dress appropriately. I bought a 2007 Jeep Compass from a guy in Sacramento and I bought it with the smog cert. However a few days later a code showed up, then a few more days it will not drive. Now I am out $3000.00 + tags and insurance. I contacted the the guy I bought it from and he said he had never had an issue. My code discovered that the code was reset. The smog guy had to of reset the code and passed it knowing it was faulty. I called him and he yelled at me and said I have no business calling him. He then hung up on me. I was calm only seeking to understand how to fix the car, not hold him accountable, but after that I decided to call the BBB and I filed a report. The reason being, if that car would not pass smog I would not have purchased this vehicle. Next is small claims court unless he wants to fix my car. read more

Perfect smog experience. Drive up without appointment just after 12pm on a Saturday. I was ready to wait, but I was the only other customer at the time and the previous car was finishing up. The owner/operator came out to confirm I wanted a smog, I confirmed. He proceeded to finish up and then promptly gave me a form and clipboard to provide my info. I've come to this gentleman for three years now and he's pulled the same BS on me the last 2 years. It's an older asian gentleman Dong, and his price is very reasonable at $50, however he hands out a "10 Off" coupon after your SMOG test to entice you to come back to him and does not honor this coupon. He refuses to honor the $10 coupon when you come in with it and attempted to make up some BS reason why he won't honor it, but when I explained how I caught him in his lie he started stuttering and finally says "If I charged you $40 we wouldn't survive". He will try to make up some story about how he "already applied the coupon" even though he wrote the price of $50 prior to me handing him the $10 off... I told him that's fine! I get that! But don't sit here trying to make up a lie in front of my face, that's completely disrespectful and a very dishonorable way to run a business. I will not be going back to him now that I'm aware he hands out this fake $10 off to get you back in and then will NOT honor it. read more

So I have been going to this particular smog station for my cars for awhile and always get good service. I'm always in and out with my cars within 30-45 minutes. This particular time I am in need of this car getting snigger asap. I go in and discover that I need the failed test paper/receipt before he can start the retest. Mind you, it is 440pm (retest are NOT taken after 4pm). I asked him "can I please come back to retest if I can make it in 20 minutes?" Without hesitation he agrees and says "we can also do it first thing tomorrow!" So I was off to get my paperwork! Came back in 15 minutes, 455pm. And he takes me in!
