Fast, honest, and reliable! NorCal Smog does most of my smog check in the last many years. The two gentlemen there are always doing the work very high efficiency even sometimes they have many customers in there. The longer I have waited is less than 45 minutes. I have the smog check done in 15 minutes in most of the cases. The store is a little dated, but very clean and comfortable. The parking log in front of the store is shared with the shop next to them. It is a little too tiny and the customer turnaround is fast. I don't have much problem getting parking at all. read more

This SMOG shop came highly recommended by my Volvo repair shop SVS. They bring all their cars to be smogged here and I bring my 1992 and 2008 Volvos to be smogged. I have been coming to NorCal smog for the better part of a decade and have never been disappointed. This is a no-nonsense smog shop that gets you in-and-out with zero hassle. Pricing is upfront and clearly shown. No surprises. Their superpower is Consistency. This is -not- the kind of place you should go to if you are expecting a lot of hand-holding, free lavender water or perhaps a foot massage while you wait. The waiting room is rustic and the parking lot is tight. But what you -will- receive is prompt and efficient service with zero BS at a reasonable cost. I admit that a few times in the past I have ventured to other smog shops due to tempting coupons that I've received in the mail. (All were disappointing. Came back to see if the catalytic converter reset from the first failed test. The guy checked in the parking lot and said it reset. I went back inside, then noticed he was pulling in the car of a customer who arrived after me and he snapped saying 'because I'm f*cking done with you!' That was extremely unprofessional. I will never bring another car here. read more

Great service! Good price. We have a few older cars, pre 1999, and are now taking them all here. My Jeep failed, the owner told me it "might" be a sensor, and it was! Had it fixed and the $10 retest happened without a hitch. Definitely will be recommending them and taking all our cars here for smog from now on. read more

The best smog station I have been to. Chris, runs a clean efficient shop. Service is prompt - I was in and out in 15 minutes, and that was after Chris and I chewed the fat for 5 mins. In and out baby!! They had me in and out. This place is right next to SS Auto where I had work done, this is where they sent me for a smog. I was out in I think 10 mins. They were really nice, and they are priced well. Other places I talked to were like oh u have an SUV? IT'S $65. Here $50 (as of 11/1/2021) And they had me done. I checked my DMV account about an hour later and it showed my registration was complete and not due until 2022. read more

If I could leave zero starts I would. Took it to get smoged. They said everything looks great and that my info work be sent to DMV and I wouldn't have to do anything else. Turns out it FAILED and they didn't even tell me. Only realized it when I went to see why it was taking so long for my registration to arrive. These guys cost me 2 weeks in which I could have been getting it fixed or figuring out something. Just absolutely negligible. read more

Honestly never had a bad experience taking my cars here to get smogged. Even the one time I had a car fail they offer a free retest which a lot of bigger smog places do not. Reasonable price and always in and out pretty quick. You might wait a little while if they are busy but I've never spent longer than 45 minutes in and out. It's rare to find good honestly people, in the auto industry especially. I had a great experience here! The guys at Hal's Auto Care (which I also recommend) gave me a coupon and suggested that I should go to NorCal Smog. The prices are fair even without the coupon, so I went. I only had to wait a few minutes. They seem to be taking COVID precautions seriously with signage all around the waiting area, a required mask policy, and a plexiglass guard at the counter. Everyone I saw working on the cars was wearing a mask properly too :) Unfortunately, My Prius failed the first time because someone had cut my O2 wires (trying to steal my catalytic converter). The man at the counter gave me everything I needed to know to pass next time and gave me a stamp for a free retest within twenty days. I came back a couple weeks later with a new O2, and I was in and out in about ten minutes. The same guy helped me both times, and he was awesome! Clear, friendly, helpful, and quick. Besides the fact that DMV has set certain emission standards for older vehicles aka: No Smog requirements and higher standards for newer more environmentally friendly vehicles which requires an owner of a newer vehicle to adhere to such State standards which also includes footing the bill for smog checks every couple of years I have been able to and on my maiden voyage to this shop none the less been able to fulfill my tax payer duty and was back on the road having "passed" with my 05 Tahoe smogged in under 15 minutes. I also want to note that I located a $10 off the cost of the smog coupon on their website thanks to a fellow reviewers tip which brought my out the door total; including the certificate of completion to $48 and they electronically transmit your pass cert directly to the State of California too which may be common these days but I don't know as I don't keep up with such things. Located off of Fulton Avenue in the Arden Arcade area I was really pleasantly surprised with the great speedy service I received and the minimal amount of time invested especially since I did not have an appointment. In my books that's worthy of my business. read more

Horrible service. Have never failed smog since new and never had any work done to change factory parts. Ten years later fails because of hoses from the factory are the wrong type. Change hoses out to meet their needs and take in for retest and won't pass because had to reset codes. Now they want me to drive 100 miles and come in again to pay. Any other smog place would honor their free retest. Goodluck if you go here. read more
