I had a 5pm appointment for a full set and a pedicure. When I Arrived for my appointment I was seated right away at station four if I'm not mistaken. The gentleman was eating and his station with a mess. He quickly tried to tidy up. I showed him the design I wanted which was a very simple French tip acrylic almond shape design. Everything started off OK and then in the middle of the acrylic application a woman came up to me to offer me the pedicure. Which I found very odd considering the fact that typical pedicures are done and a pedicure chair not while you're getting your nails done. I found it very uncomfortable given the fact that I am seven months pregnant and was struggling to stay still while they were trying to do my nails and my feet at the same time I found the application rough and uncomfortable and I was very unhappy with the service. I would have liked to have a traditional pedicure with a massage which I saw several people getting while I was there. The woman doing the pedicure did not have very good customer service. On top of that the gentleman gave me one design on one hand and one design on the other hand similar to what I asked for but still very different and was surprised I wanted both of my hands to be the same. He did try to make the other hand look close to what it was supposed to look like but I was still pretty unhappy all the same. I paid my bill. I did not leave a tip because I was very unhappy with the service and I will not be returning nor will I be recommending the salon in the future. I am very disappointed because these nails were supposed to be for my baby shower which is on Saturday. I feel like one star is still too generous. I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get my nails redone because they look pretty awful. read more

Please do yourself a favor by not going to this place and save your time and money! I got my nails done here after 24 hours it chipped so I called them they said they will fix it! I waste another 1 hr of my time by going there the lady is telling me it's just 7 dollars lets do a polish change! I said no way it's been 24 hrs only I won't pay again! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! This place is the most horrible and disgusting nail salon I've ever experienced. The staff are absolutely rude and have no work ethics. I took my mother, a CANCER patient to this place to get her nails done to cheer her up and they DESTROYED her nails!! The only reason I gave this place a 2 star is because at the very least at least the pedicures are decent. I called Saturday morning for a gel manicure and a regular spa pedicure. When I got there I decided to do gel dip powder instead of a gel manicure. They only have 3 people available to do this service. A nice lady did my pedicure and it was okay, not the best but I wasn't completely disappointed. A gentleman started off doing my nails, he removed my current gel dip polish and started applying the new powder. He dipped my fingers in so much powder that it was all over me and my stuff and I could already tell at this point that he was applying too many layers. He then stopped my manicure right in the middle and said his wife would complete it. I sat in the pedicure spa chair for about 20 minutes before I mentioned to her that I am waiting to get my nails done. She then asked her client to sit in the waiting area and called me to finish my nails. She was not paying attention at all while doing my nails, she was taking calls, greeting customers and continuously pausing to write something down in her notebook. I think because she was so distracted she applied way too many layers of clear gel polish on my nails. She also continued to go on and on about how next time i should be clear that I want get dip and not a regular gel manicure, I completely understand this but I do not think that was a valid reason to give me such bad service. My nails are thick and very ugly, that same day and Sunday my fingers hurt so bad it was unbearable. I had to take pain medication to soothe the pain an bit but it did not really help. Their were so many layers of polish on my nails that it dripped down to the sides of my nail beds and was pushing down on my skin. I will never come back here again. I went for the purpose of getting an acrylic on my left toe. I use an acrylic on it. I walked in with an old, dirty broken one. Not sure if this woman's name, but she has always been extremely unprofessional and rude.. I believe she is the men's wife. Sits on the left when you come in. Anyhow she saw the mail and told me no I can't do that for you..although she saw it was broken. She added powder, barely touched it after. I have only half of my own nail.. and it grows up instead of straight. She needed to add a new mail and file everything. She said she could not do it, and the woman assigned to do my pedicure had no idea what she was doing, just washed, barely file, and added the color which looked horrible. The toes you could tell something was wrong. She had the audacity to charge $35 as if I had gotten a new and gel. I had stopped going to this place because of her. Long story short after one day of wear I realized that the "lash extensions" were in fact incredibly itchy, uncomfortable and heavy so I painfully removed them myself. I asked for a refund but of course didn't receive it back in full. I mistakenly made an appointment here thinking it was the salon in Tampa on Ventura (of which I love the results) under the same name. Once I realized it was the wrong salon I figured I would give them a try and I lived to regret it. The service is NOT eyelash extensions. They are individuals and clusters that you can buy from the beauty supply store and glue on yourself. The lash tech glues them all over your lid to make them appear fuller but in actuality only makes them heavy, noticeably fake and uncomfortable (you shouldn't feel extensions). When the service was over you could CLEARLY see the lashes glued on my lid as well as the thick black glue she used. When I expressed my concern about it she responded by saying put eyeliner and mascara on it to cover her mistakes which clearly defeats the purpose of getting extensions! She then notified me that they only take cash (although we spoke twice on the phone prior to appointment and I was never giving the heads up so I could be prepared) so I had to pay an extra fee at the bank next door to get cash since I don't bank with them. CASH ONLY! This place is a hidden a gem, I got a mani/pedi in less than hour. It wasn't the most relaxing but it was pretty fast. I got gel nails and regular polished toes for $40. The only bad thing was they are kind of rough. I don't mine my nails are not that sensitive but they also cut my cuticle and kept on rubbing it. So that's the only thing that sucked. Paid for a callus removal and she did a terrible job. The eyebrow girl was good but the pedicures have always been rushed and you leave there with basically a color change. They are by far the best! They have been there a long time and know what they are doing. They were legit sandals to walk around in not the regular salon sandals so I wasn't too mad. Carnation Nails took care of my nails for at least 15 years before I relocated to the bay area. Everyone there does good work, but I took a liking to Paul. He doesn't just give you an ordinary full set or a fill. If you go to him regularly, he learns how your nails grow and adapts accordingly. He is a nail surgeon! I never had fungus in all of the years that I have been going to him. You may go in for a fill and he may tell you that you need a new full set. Go with the flow! He can tell if there are too many pockets in your current set that could invite fungus. By the way, Nia does amazing pedicures! Since I have lived in the bay area, I have yet to find anyone that comes close to Paul. I have tried at least 4 places. Every set, just "lifts". I have had fungus too. This was my second time coming here, and I won't be coming again. They were nice, at first. I don't know if the lady I got assigned to was in a hurry, but she did a poor job. She was talking bad about the guys previous job, and asking rhetorical questions, "why did the guy do them like this", "why did he ___"; as if it were a bad job. When she was doing my nails, she wanted to do everything with dipping powder and kept adding more powder than she should have (probably to cover up the previous French tip), which is probably why they came out so thick. I originally came for a fill because I loved how they came out the first time. I'm usually never the person to complain. But I was sitting in my car really upset since my nails look so bulgy, uneven in color and shape (not straight at all). They looked as if they didn't try to file them. So I went back and I told them "I felt bad for coming back but I didn't like them". I initially thought this would be no problem, BOY I WAS WRONG! I didn't even try to cause a scene or come with the intention of one. But the lady who did my nails started yelling in her first language and was basically gaslighting me by saying it was my fault to make an appointment next time. She could have and should have never accepted me in if they were overbooked, that's why I had asked first. I request the person who first did them because I loved the previous set I had. I said I can come back any day. The lady said she was never gonna do my nails again, as if I were in the wrong for not liking a service Im paying for. I'm more upset about the way they reacted after I said something, I feel like I got insulted. Truly showed this places true colors. Please don't waste your time or money. I am so happy I stumbled along this nail salon! I've been coming now for about 2 months and I've always left extremely satisfied. They have such a wide selection of colors to choose from in both regular and gel polish. They also do dip nail which is organic, better than acrylics! The prices are unbeatable and the service is great.
