Carnicería Coalcoman in Boise ...soooooo good!!!! Salsas they have were also delicious. This spot is a meat market and restaurant. Worth trying it out. You won't regret it. Birria was 10/10. Came with home made Tortillas. Carne Asada Torta 10/10. Super huge torta. Super delicious too. Carne Asada tacos 10/10. Meat was excellent.

Menudo. I add a bunch of heat and fixin's from their salsa bar. $9.99 deal $2 beer

Looking for authenic Mexican food in the Treasure Valley? Look no further than Carniceria Coalcoman. Great menu of recipes handed down thru the family. Everything you would ever want to eat in a Mexican restaurant. Speedy service and great prices - what more would anyone ask for? The location really has no street presence. It is tucked away in a run down strip shopping area. You may be able to spot the El Rico Pan Panaderia on Fairview. The panaderia and the carniceria are owned by the same brothers. It is just east of M.A.S.S. auto sales and across Fairview from KTVB Channel 7. I have tried a number of their soups and tacos. Their tamales at $16 per dozen are great deal. Check out their website and scan the menu. If you don't know what the items are, then you don't know authenic Mexican food when you see it. Problem? You should stick to something more familiar like Taco Bell. Try my favorite, Menudo - with 4 handmade tortillas $9.99. Grab a $2 beer from the cooler and away you go. Adios

Looks the par, but the flavor was missing!

I wanted authentic Mexican food, tacos with head and tongue meat, burritos with beans, the real deal. I ordered tongue and head meat tacos, they were bland, the burrito was full of tasteless rice and melted american cheese. Disappointing!

Next door is the market where you get your piñata.

Yelpers looking for "vibe" (whatever the hell that is) stay away. This is where locals come for real Mexican food. See photos of the naked tacos. All people are welcome at common tables. I struck up a conversation with a local who has lived here for 45 years since coming from Durango, MX as a young boy. Extensive menu will be explored on revisits.

It was just ok. I liked the tortillas that it all came on. It was a build your taco type of deal. So you get the meat only and they have a station to add whatever you want on them.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, you've landed on the right business. I stumbled upon this Mexican food restaurant after I was looking for a Panaderia (which is in the same shopping center), and WOW was this a FIND! It's not only a Carniceria but it's a restaurant and a Mexican goods store too. I had lunch there, ordered carne asada tacos, burrito and purchased their ceviche and home made salsa to-go. After my lunch, I thought if the food was this good then I have to buy their carne asada (arrachera preparada) to grill at home it's already seasoned for you. AHHHHH a touch of Southern California right here in Boise. If you're missing the authentic flavors of authentic Mexican Restaurant from Cali or Mexico, you gotta try this place! Trust.

Tuesday when several if us from work go to lunch... today, tacos! But where to go? Someone…read morementioned the one place I'd never been, what the heck, why not! A decent Selection of lunch menu offerings, I went with Chili Verde, pork in green sauce, eithucorn tortillas. We ordered chips and salsa, interesting because it's not complimentary as in so many Mexican places, is one hotter yellow sauce with pineapple, a typical medium sauce, and a mild, plus beans were ordered. The chips were gold, house made, the yellow sauce was definitely good, would probably be great on fish tacos, but the medium red was what I preferred with chips. Lunch arrived with the obligatory "hot plate" warning meaning it had bern in the oven. As always, I started by trying the rice and beans, v both were good enough I nearly finished them before even trying the Chili Verde. What was interesting here was I wanted to use the larger than average sized corn tortillas to get every bit of the verde sauce off the plate! Something, we were too busy talking to tell, was different. I don't ever remember wanting to sop all the sauce up with the tortillas before! Would I come back, yes, there is enough that looked interesting to return.

The menu has a few things you can order from burritos, tacos, tortas and other fun items. We ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and it has rice, beans, meat of choice & lettuce and avocado it was pretty good. We got some tacos as well and not sure if she mixed up another ordered but we were short 3 tacos on our order and that was a bummer.. I was really looking forward to them. Their asada, carnitas, el pastor were all really good and authentic flavor and loved that the pastor had the pineapple chunks as well. One thing I did dislike was I asked about chips order and it said $5 when I asked her if I can just have a couple, she was a bit confused and asked the lead there. Apparently they didn't have chips in their truck and had to go find them. That should have been my no thank you but I figured ohh let's give them a try. Once we got to our house and saw the $5 chips I was honestly a bit upset they were store bought nacho chips. Tacos are $2.50 I don't understand why chips are $5 and they aren't even like your traditional Mexican chips or something along those lines. That was my only downfall to this place but those are just chips. Their food was honestly good no doubt about it when we were ordering they had a few people eating there and a few to go orders. Maybe take them off the menu or make little baggies and purchase chips from a Mexican store or make your own tostadas..
